I'm in Conan, I'm not a gangster

Chapter 501 Conan: I Don't Want to Rely on My Dad

Chapter 501 Conan: I Don't Want to Rely on My Dad (1st Update)
The door to the cabin was suddenly pushed open, and Ran and Sonoko struggled to help Judy, who had an injured leg, into the cabin.

Judy's trouser legs were soaked in blood, and she winced in pain with every step she took.

Her appearance immediately attracted the attention of everyone in the room.

"Oh my god! What happened?" Kyoko Saegusa, one of the couple, exclaimed, nearly dropping her teacup.

Other hikers also gathered around, their faces filled with shock and worry.

Shiraishi E was the last to enter, casually tossing the two captured guns against the wall with a clatter. He dusted off his hands and said nonchalantly, "Nothing serious, just ran into an assassin. It's all taken care of now!"

The room erupted in chaos.

"Kill...assassin?" Novelist Shingo Nose's voice changed, his eyes behind his glasses widening: "You call this nothing serious?"

Takanashi frantically pulled out his phone to call the police, only to find that there were no signal bars.

"No, no signal!" he stammered, then rushed to the landline in the corner, only to find that the telephone line had been neatly cut.

"The telephone line has been cut!" he cried in terror, his voice echoing through the cabin.

Conan suddenly slapped his forehead, a flash of regret in his eyes: "Damn it! Why didn't I notice this one sooner?"

"If I had noticed the phone line was cut, I could have immediately confirmed that the building manager was the assassin Silver Fox!!"

At this point, he deeply regretted his carelessness!
Otherwise, he could have saved the other person's life.

Thinking of this, Conan sighed.

The fact that the phone line was cut caused panic among the crowd.

At that moment, Sonoko suddenly burst into laughter!
She clapped her hands, gesturing for everyone to look over, a confident smile on her face: "Don't panic, everyone! I brought a satellite phone with me, so I can contact the outside world!"

"Great!" Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, their tense expressions finally relaxing.

However, after rummaging through her bag for a while, Sonoko's expression gradually turned grim. "Huh? Where's my satellite phone?"

She emptied her bag of everything, but the satellite phone was nowhere to be found. Her face darkened, and she said, "Did I forget it at home? Or did I lose it on the way?"

The newly ignited hope was instantly extinguished, and panic once again gripped the room.

Takanashi clutched her hair, her voice trembling, "What do we do now? Aren't we trapped here?"

Kind-hearted Xiaolan stepped forward and said firmly, "Don't panic, everyone! Here's what we'll do: I'll go down the mountain to call the police first, you all wait here!"

She had just taken a step when Shiraishi E grabbed her arm.

"I'm afraid that won't work." Shiraishi pointed out the window.

Only then did everyone notice that the once clear sky had become covered with dark clouds: "I wonder when it will rain."

Xiaolan bit her lip, looked out the window at the increasingly dark sky, and had no choice but to give up.

Shiraishi E comforted him, "Let's wait until the rain stops before going down the mountain. It's too dangerous to go down now."

Conan looked around and suddenly realized someone was missing: "Where's Hirai-nii? Why didn't he come back? I'll go look for him!"

As he spoke, he started to run outside.

Shiraishi E reached out to stop him: "No need to look anymore, he's probably already dead."

"Huh?" Judy asked, her eyes pounding against her gunshot wound, "How can you be so sure?"

Shiraishi E slowly took out a water bottle from her backpack, took a sip, and said, "On the way here, didn't that college student say that he often comes here to climb mountains and is very familiar with the former administrator?"

He glanced at everyone and said, "Since the assassin Silver Fox is disguised as an administrator, of course we should eliminate anyone who might discover his identity."

The room was completely silent, save for the sound of the wind picking up outside the window.

Conan pondered for a moment, then decided to go out and see: "What if he's still alive?" He then walked out.

Ran wanted to follow, but Shiraishi E stopped her: "You stay and take care of Ms. Judy, I'll go." At that moment, the previously silent novelist Shingo Nose suddenly jumped up excitedly: "Wait for me! This is excellent writing material!"

He frantically pulled out his notebook and quickly followed after him.

After leaving the cabin, the three carefully searched along the mountain path.

The air before the rain was damp and heavy, and the distant thunder grew closer.

About ten minutes later, they found Hirai's body on a grassy area near a small cliff.

"Wow! You guessed it right!" Shingo Nose exclaimed, his pen flying across his notebook.

Conan rolled his eyes: "This isn't guessing, it's deduction. And you call yourself a novelist."

He carefully found a steep path and descended to the body.

Upon inspection, Hirai had obvious blow marks on the back of his head, and there were drag marks on the edge of the cliff—clearly he was knocked unconscious and pushed off.

"As expected, he was killed by Silver Fox." Conan sighed and climbed back up the cliff with a heavy heart.

The three returned to the cabin in silence, as raindrops began to fall sporadically.

When they pushed open the door of the cabin, everyone nervously crowded around them.

Seeing that only three people returned, their somber expressions spoke volumes.

The others in the room wisely kept quiet.

To break the silence, Kyoko Saegusa stood up and said, "I'll go to the kitchen to prepare lunch; there should be some ingredients ready there!"

Her boyfriend, Akira Kawabe, also stood up and said, "Let me help too!"

Xiaolan felt bad for letting them do the work, so she stood up and said, "Then I'll help too!"

As for Sonoko, she didn't go; instead, she stayed to take care of Ms. Judy.

Conan, standing to the side, kept asking Shiraishi E, "Did you know all along that the caretaker was Silver Fox?!"

"Otherwise, how could you have reacted to the sniper rifle?"

He remained skeptical of Emi Shiraishi's explanation!
Conan said, glancing at the pistol and sniper rifle that had been played with by someone, "Unless... you let me shoot them, I won't believe you!"

The bullets in the gun had already been removed by Shiraishi E, so he wasn't worried about anyone else causing trouble.

Shiraishi E rolled her eyes at Conan: "What business is it of mine whether you believe me or not? You think you can shoot me with a gun? I'd rather shoot you!!"

"And... don't go too far, kid. Haven't you noticed that Ms. Judy has been watching you the whole time?"

"Your reaction is nothing like a child's; she's already noticed you!"

Conan was startled by these words and subconsciously turned to look at Jodie, only to find their eyes meeting.

He shuddered, quickly forced a smile, and turned to Shiraishi E, saying, "Shiraishi, this is bad! I feel like she's starting to suspect me!!"

"No, you have to be my shield... I'll tell you it was you who made me do this!"

Shiraishi E shook her head and said, "This trick might fool an ordinary person, but you think you can fool an FBI agent? Dream on!"

"I can't help you anymore, good luck to you... By the way, doesn't your dad have a good relationship with the FBI? Ask him to help you out!"

"Sigh, always going to Dad for help... it makes me look so useless," Conan said dejectedly. He didn't want to rely on his dad; he wanted to rely on himself!

Shiraishi ignored him and looked out the window. Dark clouds filled the sky, and thunder rumbled.

It's going to rain soon.
