I'm in Conan, I'm not a gangster
Chapter 716 Vermouth's Initiative to Make Contact
Chapter 716 Vermouth's Initiative to Make Contact (1st Update)
The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles was brightly lit under the night sky, as a lavish party had just come to an end.
Several black limousines slowly drove into the hotel's circular driveway, carrying the guests who were still enjoying themselves.
Yukiko was the first to gracefully jump out of the car, clutching a handful of exquisite business cards in her hand, a satisfied smile on her face.
"Look!" she excitedly showed to Eri behind her, "Spielberg's personal assistant, the contact information for Marvel producers, and the phone numbers of several A-list celebrities' agents!"
She carefully tucked the business cards into the innermost part of her handbag, as if they were rare treasures: "These resources are enough for my acting jobs for the next three years."
Eri adjusted her glasses. Although she appeared much more restrained than Yukiko, the light in her eyes revealed her good mood.
“I had a long talk with Professor Smith from Harvard Law School tonight,” she said softly. “The chain-of-evidence techniques he shared will definitely come in handy in the next financial lawsuit.”
She subconsciously touched the notebook she carried with her, which was filled with her notes about what she had learned that evening.
"We're the amazing ones!" Ran and Sonoko got out of another car hand in hand. Sonoko excitedly waved her phone: "Look who we took pictures with! They're all A-list celebrities!!"
Xiao Lan nodded with a smile, her cheeks flushed with excitement: "I never expected to meet so many celebrities. Tonight feels like a dream."
Shiraishi E and Conan, who were walking at the back, exchanged a smile.
Their record tonight was quite impressive, but they just can't say it!
As the group entered the hotel lobby and took the elevator back to their room, Yukiko was excitedly describing the details of her conversation with a producer, with Eri occasionally chiming in to add to the story. Meanwhile, Ran and Sonoko were busy posting photos of the evening on social media.
“But seriously,” Yukiko suddenly turned to Shiraishi E and Conan, “Where did you two go tonight? I didn’t see you for a while.”
Shiraishi replied without changing her expression, "I went to the terrace with Conan to see the night view. The lights of Los Angeles are indeed spectacular."
Conan immediately nodded in agreement: "From a high vantage point, the entire city looks like a starry sky."
Yukiko didn't pursue the matter too much. She excitedly began to talk about her next movie idea and even considered whether to invite Western stars to play the roles.
As the elevator slowly ascended, the excited conversations were gradually replaced by yawns.
Xiaolan was the first to cover her mouth, her eyes almost closed. Yuanzi leaned against the elevator wall, listlessly waving her phone: "I'm going to save these photos for tomorrow to edit."
After arriving at the guest room floor, everyone said goodnight to each other.
After taking a shower, Conan lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling for a long time.
Everything that happened today kept flashing through my mind—the deafening explosions, the towering flames, and Shiraishi E's figure moving with ease amidst the hail of bullets.
In the end, exhaustion overcame his thoughts, and he fell into a deep sleep.
----------
next morning.
The group enjoyed a hearty American breakfast—fluffy pancakes drizzled with maple syrup, crispy bacon with scrambled eggs, and freshly squeezed orange juice.
However, what attracted the ladies even more than the food was today's itinerary.
"Rodeo Boulevard!" Sonoko clapped her hands excitedly. "I checked last night, they have the latest limited edition Chanel handbags there!"
Xiao Lan rarely showed such anticipation: "I heard that the Tiffany flagship store there has three floors."
Yukiko elegantly wiped the corner of her mouth: "I happen to need to buy a few evening gowns for the film festival next month."
Even the usually composed Eri Kisaki nodded slightly: "I heard that it's a hub for luxury goods from all over the world. I should go and broaden my horizons."
Only Conan and Shiraishi E exchanged a helpless look.
While the ladies excitedly discussed their shopping plans, the two of them already foresaw how long the day was going to be. Rodeo Drive certainly lived up to its reputation.
The wide streets are lined with uniquely designed boutiques, each window display a work of art. Fashionably dressed customers carrying shopping bags of all sizes stroll among them, the air filled with the mingled aromas of perfume and coffee.
"Wow! Look at that shop window!" Xiaolan pointed to a starry sky dress displayed in the Dior store, her eyes sparkling.
Yukiko had already taken out her credit card: "Let's go, let's start here."
Watching the ladies quickly disappear into the various shops, Conan couldn't help but sigh: "Are we really going to stay here all day?"
Shiraishi looked around and pointed to an elegantly decorated coffee shop on the street corner: "Let's wait there, at least they have good coffee."
The café was filled with the rich aroma of coffee, and abstract paintings hung on the walls.
The two chose a window seat and ordered two lattes.
Outside the window, there are bustling crowds of shoppers, while inside, customers leisurely sip coffee, creating a stark contrast.
"How boring." Conan rested his chin on his hand and stirred the ice cubes in his glass with a straw.
Shiraishi E took a sip of her coffee, her gaze lingering thoughtfully into the distance: "It's really boring. I was thinking of going to Lemote Park to experience the passion and violence of the Black men!"
Conan immediately sat up straight, a glint of light flashing in his glasses: "You mean that area known for its gang activity?"
"I heard that you can see 'enthusiastic' Black uncles showcasing their 'talents' every day." A knowing smile played on Shiraishi's lips. "Like impromptu shooting demonstrations or something."
"This trip is much more interesting than being a clothes rack here!" Conan said excitedly in a low voice. "How about we go tell Ran and the others now that we can meet up again tonight?"
Shiraishi E pondered for a moment, then glanced at the security guards patrolling outside the window.
This is definitely a place where wealthy people congregate; the security here is exceptionally good.
The two immediately got up and found Yukiko and her group trying on bags in the Gucci store.
“We want to explore on our own,” Shiraishi explained, “to experience the local culture of Los Angeles.”
Yukiko was trying on a new bag in front of a mirror when she heard this and immediately turned around: "That's fine, but you must avoid those dangerous neighborhoods! This isn't Tokyo; the safety situation here is much worse."
Conan couldn't help but retort, "Tokyo isn't exactly safe, is it? The murder rate is consistently high."
"How can that be the same?" Yukiko put down her bag, her expression serious. "What happened in Tokyo was murder, but here shootings could happen at any moment! Did you know there was another gang fight in South Los Angeles yesterday? I heard several strongholds were taken down."
Eri pushed up her glasses and added, "Be careful, and leave immediately if you notice anything amiss. Remember, don't be reckless."
Ran and Sonoko exchanged a glance, and Sonoko muttered under her breath, "Telling E to be careful? Shouldn't the one who's causing trouble be the one who's being careful?"
Xiaolan suppressed a laugh and nodded gently: "But it's still better to be careful."
After repeatedly assuring each other that they would be careful, Shiraishi E and Conan were finally able to escape.
The moment they stepped out of the luxury store, they both took a deep breath, as if they had just been freed from a cage.
"So," Conan looked up at Shiraishi E, his eyes shining with anticipation, "are we really going to Lemote Park now?"
Shiraishi E took out her phone to check the map, a playful smile on her lips: "Since we're already here, of course we should experience the authentic 'local customs and culture'."
Just as the two were about to set off to experience the warmth of the Black man, a white convertible sports car pulled up and stopped in front of them.
Vermouth took off her sunglasses, winked at the two of them, and asked, "Where are you two going? I'll give you a ride."
