Chapter 723 Your dad definitely didn't teach you: Don't act tough when you're running for your life (2nd update)
Inside the cabin, the roar of the propellers continued, but an unspoken consensus had already formed between Shiraishi E and Vermouth.

They all knew very well that hijacking the police helicopter, which seemed like a brilliant move, actually made them the most conspicuous target in the night sky.

Its massive size, distinctive sound, and limited range and speed make it virtually impossible to hide from modern urban air defense networks and tracking methods.

This is not a way to escape, but merely a temporary stage to buy time and create chaos.

“We can’t stay in the sky any longer.” Vermouth spoke decisively, her gaze sweeping across the towering skyscrapers below, which stood like building blocks, and finally settling on a modern building with a wide, flat roof, which seemed to have a temporary platform for corporate helicopters to take off and land.

“Listen,” she turned to the pale-faced pilot, her tone commanding and leaving no room for argument, “See that building with the blue glass facade? Land on its rooftop helipad, now!”

If a pilot is granted a pardon, his chances of survival will greatly increase if he can land.

He nodded hurriedly, "Yes, I understand! I'll get right away..."

However, before he could finish speaking, a deeper and more threatening rotor roar, unlike that of a police helicopter, came from afar and violently tore through the tranquility of the night sky!
A sleek, black-painted attack helicopter emerged from the clouds behind it like a ghost. The cannon turret under the nose and the missiles hanging under the stub wings reflected a cold gleam in the city's neon lights. Most importantly, it had no police or military markings on it!

"Not good!" Vermouth's pupils contracted sharply. Years of dangerous life had given her a beast-like instinct for killing intent. "It's coming for us! Get out of the way!!"

Almost at the same time she issued the warning, the armed helicopter suddenly spewed out scorching flames from under its short wings!
An air-to-air missile, trailing a long plume of flame, hurtled toward them like the javelin of death!

"My God!" The pilot was terrified. His survival instincts drove him to slam the control stick to one side and pull up as fast as he could!
The helicopter groaned under its own weight, making an extremely dangerous, almost rollover maneuver, narrowly missing the deadly missile! The missile lost its target and crashed into the upper middle part of a nearby building!
"boom--!!!"

A deafening explosion rang out instantly, tempered glass poured down like rain, and flames and thick smoke surged out from the gaping hole, turning half the sky red!

"Go! Get out of here immediately! Full speed ahead!" Vermouth shouted sharply, her expression more serious than ever before.

This is no longer a police chase, but a ruthless operation to silence witnesses!
Desperate for his own life, the pilot unleashed all his potential, pushing the throttle to the floor and maneuvering the helicopter like a frightened bird, frantically fleeing in the opposite direction from the attackers!

But the black armed helicopter clearly wasn't going to let them go; its engine roared as it gave chase!
The rotary cannon in the nose of the aircraft began to spin wildly, spitting out tongues of fire several meters long!

“Boom boom boom boom!!!”

The dense hail of bullets, like the scythe of death, wove a deadly net of fire in the air!

The pilot strained with all his might, maneuvering the helicopter with various evasive maneuvers, sometimes diving into narrow gaps between buildings, sometimes climbing rapidly in an attempt to escape. Hot ammunition belts whistled past the fuselage, several times almost skimming the bulkhead!

They were temporarily unharmed, but the surrounding buildings suffered damage. The glass curtain walls were riddled with holes, and cement fragments were scattered everywhere, leaving behind shocking bullet marks!
"This can't go on!" Shinichi Kudo gripped the handrail tightly, his face pale as he looked out the window at the approaching Grim Reaper.

Misfortunes never come singly!

Just as they were trying to use the urban canyon to shake off their pursuers, a second, equally unmarked armed helicopter emerged from the gap between two tall buildings ahead!

Like a venomous snake lying in ambush, it blocked the way, and the machine guns spat out flames without hesitation!

"No—!" the pilot screamed in despair as he tried to make one last evasive maneuver, but the firepower from both sides was simply too dense!
"Puff puff--!"

A series of dull thuds rang out as several large-caliber machine gun shells accurately hit the cockpit!
The bulletproof glass shattered into a spiderweb pattern in an instant. The pilot's body trembled violently in his seat, and blood instantly stained his pilot suit. He didn't even have time to let out a complete scream before he died on the spot!

The helicopter, now out of control, immediately resembled a giant iron bird with broken wings. Its nose sank, and it began to spin and tumble violently in the air with a desperate howl, helplessly plummeting towards the abyss-like city streets below!
Just as the helicopter was plummeting out of control and the cockpit alarm was blaring, Shinichi Kudo, almost instinctively, lunged forward and grabbed the wildly shaking control stick with both hands!

He pulled back with all his might, veins bulging on the back of his hands, trying to bring the out-of-control steel behemoth back on track.

Under his desperate control, the fuselage emitted a teeth-grinding metallic twisting sound, and the downward momentum suddenly stopped. Although it was still swaying, it had finally escaped the fatal spin for the time being.

"Get rid of him!" Shiraishi's voice was calm and utterly emotionless. He quickly bent down, deftly unfastened the complicated seatbelt buckles on the deceased pilot, and without the slightest hesitation, pushed the still-warm body out of the open hatch.

The body, like a puppet with its strings cut, vanished instantly into the dizzying city lights below, giving the suddenly "lightened" helicopter a precious bit of maneuverability.

Shinichi's heart was pounding in his chest, and cold sweat had soaked his back.

He never imagined that one day he would actually be piloting a helicopter, especially while being chased by two armed helicopters.

Fear clung to him like cold vines, but he knew that retreating now would only lead to his death.

He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and plopped down in the driver's seat, which still bore traces of blood, gripping the control lever tightly once more.

"Hold on tight!" he growled, slamming the throttle. The helicopter engine roared, trailing black smoke, and wobbled as it accelerated again, trying to escape this deadly airspace.

However, the two Ghost attack helicopters behind them, like leeches, immediately latched on.

They worked in perfect coordination. One used tall buildings as cover to outflank the other, while the other continuously suppressed the helicopter with heavy machine gun fire. Bullets rained down like a storm, weaving a deadly net of fire around Shinichi's helicopter.

At the critical moment of life and death, Shinichi recalled the scene under the vast sky of Hawaii, where his father, Yusaku Kudo, taught him the principles of flight and acrobatic maneuvers.

Those skills that were once considered games and knowledge have now become his only lifeline.

His eyes narrowed, and his hands moved rapidly across the control panel and joystick. Under his control, the helicopter displayed astonishing agility!
He jerked the control stick, and the helicopter rapidly ascended at an almost vertical angle, narrowly avoiding a burst of shells.

It then quickly lowered its nose and, like a fish swimming nimbly, slipped into the narrow gap between two skyscrapers, using the massive bodies of the buildings as a temporary shield.

He would sometimes glide precariously close to the glass curtain wall, and at other times make a sharp turn to circle into the blind spot of his pursuers, turning the complex city buildings into his personal obstacle course.

This superb escape flight skill even amazed the well-traveled Vermouth, who exclaimed in admiration, her beautiful eyes sparkling with wonder: "Little detective, I never knew your piloting skills were so amazing!"

Hearing the praise, Shinichi's tense nerves relaxed slightly, and a smug smile crept onto his lips. Almost reflexively, he replied, "My dad taught me that in Hawaii!"

Just then, a muffled "boom" was heard, the fuselage shook violently again, and several warning lights on the instrument panel began to flash wildly.

Shiraishi E snorted coldly, mercilessly pouring cold water on the situation, "Then your father definitely didn't teach you that when you're being chased by missiles and machine guns, don't make any wild predictions or show off! Just focus on flying your plane!"

Shinichi's smile froze instantly, and he awkwardly tugged at the corners of his mouth.

"Damn it!" Shinichi quickly checked the instruments, his face growing even paler. "The tail fin and stabilization system are severely damaged! At this rate, we won't last more than a few minutes!"

Vermouth's sharp gaze immediately swept to a modern office building with a huge glass curtain wall to the side. Her voice was decisive and calm as she proposed a crazy plan: "There's no time! See that building over there? Forget about a forced landing, just crash into it! Crash into its upper-level office area! That's our only way out!"

"What?! Crash in?!" Shinichi's face turned deathly pale instantly; this was tantamount to suicide!

But as he looked at the pursuers getting closer and closer behind him and felt the increasingly uncontrollable vibrations of the helicopter beneath his feet, he immediately realized that Vermouth was right.

In the air, they were already trapped. Only by rushing into the relatively "soft" interior of the building could they have a chance of survival and temporarily block the enemy's line of sight and fire by using the building structure.

"I'll risk it all!" Shinichi gritted his teeth, a resolute glint in his eyes.

Without further hesitation, he slammed the control stick, adjusted the direction, and aimed the helicopter's nose at the massive, high-strength glass curtain wall that reflected the night sky and the firelight on the other side. The engine let out its final mournful cry, and the helicopter charged forward without looking back!
