Chapter 188: Minister of Magic: I want to join the team too
Who has the final say in the wizarding world?
This is actually somewhat similar to Muggle society.
Wizards, like Muggles, run two teams at the same time.
In the Muggle world, many people believe that the government is omnipotent and supreme.
But in fact, if we use a metaphysical way to explain it, most governments are actually a "sect alliance" in essence.
The various forces united together, gave up some of their rights, and formed a new whole, making their forces more competitive and effective.
This new whole looks unified, but the voices inside are "very mixed". In fact, whoever has greater power in his hands will have a louder voice.
The same is true for the wizarding world, but there is a slight difference between the two.
That is the Muggle world, where power mostly exists in the form of 'resources' and is relatively dispersed, whereas on the wizarding side, power is violence and is often concentrated in individuals.
They are the uncrowned kings of the wizarding world!
Fudge certainly has opinions about this phenomenon, but he is powerless to change anything.
Now he is not facing Dumbledore, who has little attachment to this world, only wants to maintain stability, and is unwilling to overturn the table.
When facing powerful wizards who are willing to unleash their martial power, he can only smile like he does now.
After all, he didn't want to be sleeping soundly at home, only to be grabbed from a distance in his pajamas and thrown to the ground with a thud.
"..." Looking at Roger who was about to leave, Fudge had words on the tip of his tongue, not knowing whether he should say it out loud.
But after thinking for a moment, Fudge said, "Roger, please stay."
"Huh?" Roger, who was about to Apparate to a village near Hogwarts and then turn into Hogwarts, turned his head in confusion.
"I have something to talk to you about virtual reality," Fudge said.
"You said at the press conference that you would allow virtual reality technology to be distributed to the outside world."
Roger nodded: "Yes."
"I remember there was relevant content in the report I submitted to you, and you approved it." Roger continued.
This is true.
But the question is, as long as the proposal submitted by Roger is not too outrageous, would Fudge dare not approve it?
"Yes, I have read the report, but I estimate that someone from the German Ministry of Magic will contact us soon to seek relevant cooperation. What should we do then?" Fudge was a man who spoke strategically.
Of course, he would not start by talking about very sensitive issues. He planned to use an introduction to smoothly guide things to the direction he wanted.
"Just do what you have to do." Roger was a little confused by Fudge's question.
He looked at Fudge and continued, "The general direction has been decided, which is technological cooperation and sharing. As for how to cooperate specifically and how to protect our own interests, I think the Ministry of Magic should have much more experience than I do."
Fudge nodded without comment: "Then if there are conflicts with other countries due to virtual reality-related reasons..."
"I said it at the press conference, just do it that way."
"In other words, although you are fully responsible for matters related to virtual reality, there are some things that I can decide on my own?"
Roger raised his eyebrows, and when he heard this, he got a glimpse of the meaning.
Does Fuguita want to clarify responsibilities with himself?
Everything related to virtual reality is under his jurisdiction, but his way of doing things and the power he holds make Fudge, the minister and his nominal superior, confused about the importance of certain things.
At this moment, he should be trying to sort out some vague things. "It's like this, as long as it is not directly related to the spread, maintenance, technology and prosperity of virtual reality, other departments of the Ministry of Magic can make their own decisions."
Although Roger saw through some things, he chose not to speak them out.
For some things, it is enough for everyone to have a tacit understanding in their hearts. It is not good to say it out loud.
Human beings are emotional creatures, and speaking too bluntly can sometimes hurt others' reputation.
It's just like when Lu Bu saved Liu Bei in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It was originally a good thing that he got a favor from a great man, but when Lu Bu showed off in his mouth, it was like he made an enemy.
"So that's how it is. I understand." Fudge was born into a politician family and was very sensitive to the emotional changes between people.
Even though he got the position of minister somewhat unexpectedly, it was only obtained because of some dark secrets on his competitor.
But being able to join the competition, from a lousy minister who relied on Dumbledore for everything in his original destiny to one who later held great power, this in itself proves his ability.
He knew from the subtle change in Roger's eyes that Roger understood the underlying meaning of his words.
Roger's answer made him realize that he could talk about something more in-depth.
"Roger, can you tell me a little bit about virtual reality technology?" Fudge asked seriously.
But he then added: "Of course, I know you may have some concerns, just pick out the things you can tell me."
"I have some understanding of your relationship with Dumbledore. The spread of virtual reality technology to the entire world, which may have a huge impact on the entire wizarding society and even the Muggle society, started suddenly without any warning."
"This matter must have been unanimously agreed upon by both of you, but it is completely different from the way Dumbledore dealt with similar things in the past."
"What's going on here?"
"Or, what does virtual reality technology really mean? What special meaning does it have that I don't know about?"
Fudge's magical talent is very limited, and he doesn't understand many things about magic.
But as a politician, he understands people's hearts!
He knew that Dumbledore was originally a rather conservative person.
It was definitely not an easy task to get Dumbledore to agree to something that would bring about drastic changes to the world.
Things have come to this.
There are two branches.
Either something went wrong on Dumbledore's side, causing his position to shift.
Or...this so-called virtual reality technology is definitely not as simple as it appears to be!
The spread of virtual reality around the world may have other purposes!
Dumbledore is the greatest wizard in Britain in this century. Fudge firmly believes that with Dumbledore's strength, there will most likely be no problems with him.
Then there is only one answer.
As the Minister of Magic, if Fudge doesn't get to the bottom of this matter, he probably won't be able to sleep well!
