Chapter 349 Reasons

Chapter 349 Reasons
"You're not doing well in your studies? Why don't you look at your own problems?" Jack sneered, his voice filled with suppressed anger, like the prelude to a volcanic eruption: "What the hell is being taught in school? Look at your own problems too!"

"Without tutoring classes or private tutors, how can you learn anything? Without recommendation letters, you can't get into a prestigious university. You should also look for the problems within yourself."

He questioned Wayne!
His tone was full of sarcasm and anger, as if he wanted to unleash all the pent-up resentment he had accumulated over the years.

"You weren't born into a good family, you're not the son of a billionaire, take a look at your own problems!" Jack's voice was almost a roar, and the muscles in his face twitched slightly with anger.

He strode up to Wayne, looking down at the once-powerful richest man, his eyes burning with fury.

"You finally got into university, graduated, and became a proud firefighter. If there's a fire, aren't you going to go put it out?" Jack's voice trembled.

"When you finally manage to put out the fire, others become heroes, while your colleague is burned to death, your brother gets cancer from inhaling toxic fumes, and you don't receive the hero's honors or compensation. Your family even has to pay three times the insurance premium. Shouldn't you take a look at your own problems?"
"Why do others bully you? Why are you the only one who becomes a firefighter? You sweat all day long, but you risk your life in a critical moment?"
Jack's voice was almost a scream; he had completely lost control of his emotions. He grabbed Wayne by the collar and yanked him up from the ground.

He was referring to the disaster 24 years ago. After the disaster, Wayne became the hero who saved the city, while the firefighters were slowly forgotten!

“Answer me! How am I supposed to find my own problems?” Jack’s voice exploded in the room like thunder, making the air tremble.

Wayne was saying that not being born into a good family or having a good background is one's own problem. If it's not one's own problem, then is it someone else's?
But when he saw the veins throbbing on Jack's forehead, like a person's heart, he didn't say anything.

He heard Jack roar, "You son of a bitch, fuck your mother, always blaming yourself! Is this our problem?"

"That idiot from the city hall and the fire department embezzled our pensions. We risked our lives for the city, but nobody in the city remembers us! Why don't you look at your own problems too?"

"What are we firefighters? Are we just consumables? Answer me!"

Wayne opened his mouth to say "yes," but what was wrong with the firefighter?
Are firefighters really that honorable?

Firefighters are just trying to put out fires, so it's not unusual for them to get burned to death.
Don't other cities have firefighters who died in fires? Why are you all so dramatic?
You're in danger putting out fires, but he's not in danger saving the city?

These were his true feelings, and he said rationally, "I sympathize with you. You should go to the fire department, the city hall, and the insurance company!"

Hearing Wayne's words, Jack became even angrier. He said, "The fire department's compensation money has been embezzled, the city hall is passing the buck, and the insurance company is refusing to pay. What can I do?"

"How am I supposed to face so many people all by myself? Even if I'm right, I have no way to deal with them! Tell me, what's the point of going to them?!"

“You can try to expose them to the media and use public opinion to put pressure on them!” Wayne tried to calm Jack down, going along with his words.

“Heh…the media?” Jack let out a laugh that sounded like a wry smile, his voice filled with endless mockery and despair: “Do you know that Lauda Corporation’s parent company is Wayne Group? The media is Wayne Group too!”

"Do you know that most of the city hall officials are from the Wayne Group? Do you know that almost everything in Gough City belongs to the Wayne Group!"

"And you are Wayne of the Wayne Group!"

Wayne hadn't expected that this matter would ultimately involve him. Lauda Insurance? He seemed to vaguely remember it; it was a top-performing company with record-breaking profits year after year. The entire city of Golf was practically under Wayne's control, but he couldn't be blamed for everything in Golf. Didn't he know that?
Wayne said innocently, "I'm sorry! I didn't know about this. I'll take care of it for you when I get back."

He genuinely didn't know about this trivial matter; he was always concerned with the bigger issues in the city. Minor matters like firefighter compensation wouldn't even come up in his work system.

"Ha...why don't you know? Because you don't care about us at all!" Jack sneered, speaking his mind aloud:

"If the upper beam is crooked, the lower beam will be crooked too. You and the Wayne Group are the source of all evil in Gough City!"

He has lived in this city his whole life, and he has seen everything about it.

The Wayne Corporation, like a behemoth, has extended its tentacles to every corner of Golf City, extracting value from everyone.

Good kids like George have to work two jobs just to barely survive, seven days a week, sometimes with less than a day off. But when he was young, he worked five days a week and had two days off. Even his parents' generation could support their whole family decently with just one job.

From his father's generation to his son's, the standard of living in the entire city of Gof declined. And the rich got richer, while the poor got poorer; he wasn't stupid, how could he not see that?

If the poor are not at fault, then the rich must be!

Because the rich have too many choices, they can exploit the poor, leaving them completely drained, while the poor have no recourse!

“Me? I’m the source of all evil?” Wayne heard this again, and his face flushed red. “Is it my fault that the pension was embezzled? Is it my fault that the city council is passing the buck? Is it my fault that the insurance company won’t pay out?”

"How the hell can you blame me? I didn't order them to do it! I had no idea! Are you a giant baby?!"

Why is everyone blaming him? He's the richest man in Gopher City, not the father of a Gopher City official! You firefighters can't get compensation, and you can blame him for that?

"Fuck you!" Jack was enraged by Wayne's words and punched Wayne in the face, sending him flying.

"You, the king of Gafford, how dare you say such things!" he roared.

He wasn't angry that Wayne didn't know, but that Wayne thought it wasn't his problem.

In his view, Wayne is the king of Gough City, and now he actually says that the state of Gough City is not his fault, which is really shameless.

In the past, there were kings and lords, each responsible for the land under their rule. Now, Wayne, who controls all the industries and government in Gough City, claims he bears no responsibility.

Wayne was punched and was so dazed that he almost passed out.

He reiterated, "Gough City belongs to all its citizens."

“Belongs to your mother!” Jack punched Wayne in the face again!
