Chapter 675 The New Fang Yu! (Bonus chapter for Alliance Leader Ink)

The thick, impenetrable darkness, like a heavy curtain, instantly engulfed Fang Yu.

One second he was still dizzy from working on code all night, and the next second the hard cement ground under his feet turned into soft grass with a strange elasticity.

No, it's not a meadow.
He staggered a couple of steps to steady himself, then stared wide-eyed, trying to make out his surroundings.
Surprising!

It was the only word he could think of.

Above us was a pitch-black sky, dotted with exceptionally bright, yet cold and distant, stars.

Everything in sight appears sharply defined, as if it were made up of countless rough pixels.

The trees are huge, straight brown pillars with square, dark green canopies that "grow" on them, their edges jagged and distinct.

The ground is made up of alternating blocks of varying shades of green and brown, with blades of grass sticking out stiffly from the gaps between the blocks.

The air smelled of earth and grass, but mixed with a chilling, slightly putrid stench I'd never smelled before.

"Where is this?" Fang Yu's heart pounded wildly, a strong sense of absurdity and unease gripping him.

Silence, deathly silence, with only his own heavy breathing and a faint, distant growl.
The sound! A low, drawn-out groan, as if the throat were filled with grit.

Not just one place! Fang Yu turned around abruptly, feeling a chill run from his tailbone straight to the top of his head—in the dim, blurry light, at the edge of the woods, several distorted human figures were moving stiffly.

Their skin appeared eerily grayish-green under the faint starlight, their bodies were twisted and swollen, their steps were heavy and slow, each step dragging and making a rustling sound that sent chills down one's spine, but their empty eyes were fixed on his location!

"Zombies?!" The thought flashed through Fang Yu's mind like lightning, instantly turning into immense fear.

Where in the real world would such a thing come from? But its appearance, its sound, and especially the chilling aura of death emanating from it, instantly activated memories of countless horror games he had played and zombie movies he had watched!
run! Must run!
Without any hesitation, Fang Yu turned and ran! He took every step with all his might, trying to escape the slowly moving sources of terror behind him.

However, despair immediately seized him—his body was so heavy that he couldn't control it! His legs felt like they were filled with lead, or like they were stepping on thick mud, moving so slowly that he wanted to cry.

This is not a body he is familiar with at all! While office workers may struggle to run 800 meters, it is definitely several times faster than this!
He dared not turn around, and could only struggle with all his might. His lungs burned with pain, and every breath he took was filled with the smell of blood.

The slow yet persistent footsteps and low growls behind me did not recede; on the contrary, they seemed to grow clearer, like a maggot clinging to my bone, refusing to let go.

Cold sweat soaked his back, not from exhaustion, but from a bone-chilling fear.

What kind of monsters are these? Why are they chasing him? Why is he here? Countless thoughts exploded in his mind, but he could only desperately move forward, and forward again, otherwise he would surely die!
The view suddenly becomes clear!
Fang Yu practically tumbled and crawled out of the edge of the woods. Ahead of him, there were no longer trees blocking his view, but a gently undulating flat area.

Just then, a deep blue-black expanse blocked his path! It was water! The sea? A lake? Fang Yu didn't care to distinguish; his intense survival instinct overwhelmed all reason! The low growl behind him was almost within reach; he could even smell the putrid, stench of decay!
"Jump!" He let out a hoarse, incoherent shout, and without the slightest hesitation, he used his last bit of strength to plunge into the icy, bone-chilling water!

Pfft!
The icy, bone-chilling seawater instantly enveloped him, sending a shiver down his spine.

His will to survive made him instinctively start splashing around in the water, dog-paddle.

He frantically poked his head out, wiped the salty seawater from his face, his heart pounding in his throat, and frantically looked back at the shore—the zombie that had chased him to the water's edge had indeed stopped.

They surrounded the shore, roaring even more frantically at Fang Yu in the water, their empty eye sockets staring intently at him, their gray-green arms futilely scratching at the air.

The next second, something happened that made Fang Yu's pupils shrink!

Several zombies, seemingly losing patience, stepped directly into the shallow water without hesitation, in an extremely stiff and clumsy manner!

Once their bodies are completely submerged in the seawater, a bizarre change immediately occurs—their originally grayish-green skin quickly fades, turns pale and swollen, like an over-soaked corpse, and several strange round black bumps "glug" out of their bodies, resembling barnacles or some kind of disgusting attachment.

What shocked Fang Yu even more was that two square Chinese characters appeared out of thin air above their heads, like icons popping up in a game:

Drowned corpse

The bizarre sight left Fang Yu's mind blank; he almost forgot to paddle and choked on a mouthful of water.

"Drowned corpse? What?!" This was completely beyond his comprehension! A monster mutated after jumping into the sea? Words hanging above its head? What the hell kind of place is this?!
Just as he was still in shock, his mind a jumbled mess of "drowning corpses" and the words hanging above them, and he could only mechanically dog-paddle in the icy water, he caught a glimpse of the eastern horizon out of the corner of his eye.

A sliver of pale light pierced the deep night.

Soon, the pale white patch expanded rapidly, dyeing the thin clouds on the horizon red. Then, the golden-red sun suddenly leaped over the horizon, showering the entire world with its dazzling light without reservation!
The zombies struggling on the shore and in the water were as if they had been doused with invisible boiling oil the moment they came into contact with the first ray of sunlight.

They let out a shrill, inhuman scream, and golden flames suddenly burst forth from their bodies! The flames burned extremely quickly and fiercely, almost instantly engulfing those ugly bodies, turning them into a few wisps of barely perceptible, acrid black smoke that dissipated into the fresh morning air.

The few drowned corpses that had been struggling quickly sank to the bottom of the water and disappeared without a sound.

The shore quickly fell silent, with only the gentle sound of the waves lapping against the shore.

The sunlight dispelled all the chill and fear, shining warmly on Fang Yu's wet face.

The immense shock of surviving the ordeal instantly drained all his strength, leaving Fang Yu feeling as limp as a noodle.

He practically crawled and scrambled his way to the shore, then thrashed about on all fours to get ashore.

As soon as he left the seawater, he collapsed onto the soft sand and gravel above the waterline, his chest heaving violently, like a fish out of water, greedily inhaling the incredibly fresh and warm air that carried the salty smell of the sea and the earthy scent of plants.

Each breath he took caused his lungs to ache, but he didn't care.

The blinding sunlight made it impossible for him to open his eyes for the time being. He could only lie there, feeling the sunlight dispel the chill in his body. A feeling of exhaustion mixed with boundless confusion swept over his entire body.

What kind of hellish place is this?
