Chapter 16 Crime
Panama City Beach, late March.

The warm sunshine of over 25 degrees Celsius is particularly comfortable for people. Wearing sunglasses and only a pair of beach pants, I half-lay on the beach, and the breeze blows on my skin, which is indescribably comfortable. Not to mention the endless number of swimsuits in front of and around me, which are dazzling. Maybe this is the most pleasant moment since I traveled through time...

In fact, this is just Ryan's wishful thinking.

When he, Abigail and a dozen other classmates arrived at this so-called "spring break resort", the first thing they saw was the beach crowded with spring break students. Thousands of people were crowded on the small beach, and the messy quarrels, laughter, and screams overlapped like a vegetable market.

There are swimsuits and bikinis, but the figures are not necessarily hot enough, and the scenes of a group of handsome men and beautiful women in bikinis like in Baywatch (a well-known American TV series in the 1990s) are even less likely to appear.

Fortunately, the sun is shining brightly today, and the sea is sparkling, making it a great day for sunbathing.

“Who said this is a spring break destination?”

"You'd have to ask MTV. After the Spring Break Live show in the 80s, this place became synonymous with a spring break destination."

"This is the only free public beach and there are indeed too many people coming here this year."

"What should I do? Go back to the hotel? Or wait for the evening show? Is there anything going on at Harpoon Harry's (a local bar) tonight?"

"Not tonight, but tomorrow is the local annual Beach Bash music festival, which will be held at the bar. I heard that there will be some heavyweight guests there."

"So what should we do tonight?"

The Winter Music Conference will open in a few days, and Ryan is going to travel in Florida with his classmates for two days. Hearing the discussion of his classmates, he looked at Abigail, who was wearing a pair of flip-flops and a large beach towel that completely covered her upper body.

Ryan looked at the single female classmates next to him, and they were dressed similarly.

Obviously, these female classmates had made careful preparations for their first spring break after turning 18. It would be too boring to return home disappointed. However, the beach in front of them was so crowded that there was no place to lie down and sunbathe.

Ryan set his eyes further away. There were several yachts cruising on the sea, and some people jumped from the top of the yacht and rolled into the water.

"Maybe we can charter a yacht," Ryan suggested suddenly.

If you only rent it until tonight, you should still be able to afford the holiday premium.

Ryan thought everyone would accept it, but he didn't expect these students to look embarrassed and hesitate for a long time before saying that it was "overbudget".

Hendersonville is just an ordinary public high school, and the students live nearby. It is impossible for high school students here to have a big budget for spring break.

"Okay." Ryan nodded: "In that case..."

He took out a bulging wallet from the pocket of his beach pants, indicating that he was willing to be generous for once!
In an instant, all the classmates around Ryan cheered, and several boys wanted to recognize Ryan as their sugar daddy on the spot, offering him chrysanthemums, and the emotional value was full. Others began to look for a boat rental company on the coast to help Ryan run errands.

In high school, this group of students had a relatively simple concept of money. Ryan spent one dollar and got the effect of ten dollars. After boarding the ship, several single female cheerleaders asked Ryan to apply sunscreen one by one, and Ryan gladly obliged.

After a while, Ryan appeared at the stern and sat next to Abigail, who was standing on the side of the ship, observing the shore with a telescope mounted on the deck.

This kind of telescope is usually used to observe the distant ocean, but Abigail used it to observe the shore.

Abigail was startled when she noticed Ryan approaching.

"We have to call the police now!" Abigail looked terrified, then left Ryan and walked quickly towards the cabin.

Ryan used a telescope and stood at Abigail's perspective just now, and the explosion scene came into view.

A group of black college students, both men and women, were standing on the beach not far from the coast, talking and laughing. Everyone had a smile on their face, and they looked no different from the spring break students around them. Just one step away from this group of people, three black men were kneeling on the ground, surrounding a girl, and the girl let the three of them do whatever they wanted, without any reaction.

The three of them were certainly not applying sunscreen to each other, but were doing something more sinister, something that Indians love to do. "Yes, right on the beach, send the police over quickly..." Abigail returned to the deck and was calling the police.

If Ryan hadn't seen it with his own eyes, it would have been hard for him to believe that such a thing could actually happen. You have to know that this happened in broad daylight, and there were at least dozens of people around, yet no one tried to stop it. Everyone turned a blind eye and just thought that the girl was "asleep."

Abigail shouted loudly at this moment, trying to attract other people's attention, but because she was too far away from the shore, no one paid attention to her.

Although the police arrived at the beach within ten minutes, there were too many people on the beach and no reference points. When the two police officers arrived at the scene by walking on the fine sand, the woman was left alone on the beach...

Abigail's face was filled with fear as she watched the whole thing. In her mind, spring break was associated with warm sunshine, sweet love, and laughter, but reality taught her a hard lesson. She had no interest in playing the whole afternoon, and she kept the beach towel wrapped around her.

Ryan had already gotten over his initial shock. He had just used a telescope to observe other locations on the beach and discovered that there was more than one such group connection in broad daylight. As for the three criminals, Ryan had already memorized the face of one of the black men with dreadlocks.

That night, Ryan learned through communication with others that at this time of year, public security incidents including disorderly conduct, illegal possession of guns, and drug use would surge in popular spring break destinations. Local radio also reported that the city council had passed the "Spring Break Ordinance," and the city police department would increase law enforcement efforts during the spring break.

It was not until this time that Abigail recovered from her trance. She didn't dare to leave Ryan even a step. After the group returned to the shore, she took the initiative to ask Ryan to take her back.

Unable to resist the other party's request, and considering that Abigail had helped him review for the past half month, Ryan nodded and agreed. Before leaving, he exchanged glances with several male classmates, as if he had some agreement with them.

"The old place." One of the thin guys whispered to Ryan.

Returning to the hotel-style apartment where she was staying, Abigail closed the door on her own initiative.

"I'm so hungry. How about we go to Captain Anderson's restaurant to eat paella and have some wine at the same time?" Abigail suggested.

Abigail is out of luck tonight, Ryan already has a date.

"Ashley (cheerleaders) and the others are next door, you can go with them, I'm very tired today." Ryan said.

Abigail frowned and said, "Then go! Don't come back if you leave."

Then there was the sound of a door closing.

"Asshole!" Abigail screamed, then tore off the beach towel on her body as if it were Ryan. As for the black and white bikini on her body, she didn't have time to show it to Ryan from beginning to end today.

·
A few minutes later, Ryan had reunited with several of the male classmates, and all the girls had returned to their apartment.

"Next, it's the men's event, the wet T-shirt party!" The tall and thin boy just now put his arm around Ryan's neck. His name is Paul, and he is the main cornerback of the school football team. This position is usually filled by the fastest runners. Paul's physique perfectly meets this standard, with a thin waist, long legs, a small head and a long face, resembling a "Doberman Pinscher".

Ryan and his group were walking on the sidewalk and passed by a black Mercedes-Benz MPV at an intersection.

Inside the car, a young man wearing a baseball cap was looking out the window.

"Zimmerman, in addition to the Beach Bash Music Festival tomorrow, you will go to Daytona for a second show the day after tomorrow, and then to Miami to prepare for the Ultra Music Festival."

"Have all the rat helmets been checked?" the young man asked.

The assistant nodded: "Would you like to invite two local pretty girls to your room tonight?"

The young man shook his head: "Forget it."

Later, he wants to play computer games.

By the way, the situation on the beach mentioned in the article is adapted from a real case that occurred during the 2015 spring break.
