Chapter 35 Sisterhood

"Greenwich Village is the birthplace of counter-mainstream thought in the United States. Bob Dylan performed in the bar here, Robert De Niro performed in the small theater here, the sexual liberation movement started here, and of course, this is also the end point of the New York Halloween parade every year..." Joel couldn't help but say as he walked side by side with Ryan on the narrow path.

But in Ryan's opinion, apart from the fact that there are many more designer shops on both sides of the road, it seems to be no different from other places.

Until a man walking his dog came towards us. I say he is a man because he looks like a man, but his upper body is wearing women's underwear and his lower body is a pair of tight women's shorts.

When they turned the corner, they saw a poster on the wall showing two muscular men in bondage poses, behaving intimately in front of the camera. The slogan next to them read: "You are kink positive, your healthcare should be too"

This is to remind people that they should pay attention to hygiene when playing letter games.

For Ryan, a straight man, this poster is nothing short of spiritual pollution.

Aside from these "jump scares", the shops along the streets of Greenwich Village are relatively normal. After all, there are many tourists from all over the world. There are many petty bourgeoisie restaurants and bars, as well as shops with a cultural atmosphere, such as coffee bean shops, vintage shops, and old record shops. Ryan is not very interested in this.

Of course, the common elements of New York are all here, homeless people lying in the shadow of the building on the corner, mental patients standing at the intersection talking to themselves, old ladies bending over to look for plastic bottles in the trash can, and four locks on bicycles on the roadside. This reminds Ryan that he is still in New York, not anywhere else.

Ryan was actually very familiar with this place. During the nearly one year in New York, the original owner had visited here several times with three different girlfriends, all of whom were small models similar to the original owner. In addition, the original owner also had several model friends here, but Ryan did not plan to contact them when he came to New York this time.

This time the entire team had plenty of time to prepare, so Ryan and Joel took advantage of their free time to wander around. On the way back, Ryan saw several neoclassical high-rise buildings with purple "NUY" flags hanging on the exterior walls, indicating that the building was part of New York University.

Ryan then recalled the Harlem Shake imitation videos in his mind, some of which were obviously filmed on college campuses...

Joel looked at the time and saw that it was almost evening, so the two of them prepared to go back to the nightclub to prepare for tonight's DJ performance.

·
New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, double dormitory.

"Elizabeth, what are you going to wear to the event tonight?" my roommate knocked on the door and asked.

"Didn't you just come back from Punta Cana (a tourist city in the Dominican Republic)?" Elizabeth curled her lips.

"It's spring break, and tonight is the vice president's birthday. You have to go. It's at the 'Lost' nightclub near the school." The roommate reminded.

"I don't want to go. I'm not feeling well," Elizabeth explained.

"Then don't drink. This time the social director has contacted a group of younger students. I heard that there are some handsome guys among them. Don't blame me for not inviting you when the time comes." The roommate reminded.

Elizabeth, who had just broken up before spring break, shook her head; "I'm not interested."

"So you don't want to compete for the director of the activities department anymore? It depends on the situation, there may be a second event in the evening. This is your chance to demonstrate your organizational skills." The roommate went on to mention.

"Okay, okay." Elizabeth closed the door, put on some light makeup, put on a baseball jacket and went out.

"Just wear this? Aren't you afraid of being stopped outside by the guards?" Her roommate teased. She was wearing a tight skirt that showed off her figure.

"I'm having my period, let's go," Elizabeth urged.

The two met downstairs with other people who were attending the vice president's birthday party tonight. They were all girls. Just like women were absolutely not allowed to enter fraternities, sororities also did not allow men to enter.

The sorority Elizabeth belongs to is called Pi Beta Phi (ΠΒΦ), which is the first national sorority in the United States. It has more than 20000 chapters and alumni organizations across the United States and Canada, with more than members.

After the bespectacled vice president showed up, the group headed toward the nightclub in a mighty procession.

Elizabeth mixed in with the women and entered the "Lost Club" smoothly. Someone had already reserved a booth on the second floor, and soon the boys who were attending the birthday party also arrived. One of the men kept chatting with her, but she rejected him coldly.

Then, she actually saw her ex-boyfriend who she had just broken up with last week on the dance floor. What was even more annoying was that there was a black-haired beauty standing next to him. Elizabeth had seen this woman before. "I'm so angry! What do you mean by just ordinary friends? Fucking shit!" Elizabeth clenched her fists in anger.

Her roommate tried to comfort her quickly. The angry Eliza wanted to drink the wine in one gulp, but considering her health, she put it down.

·
"The effect is pretty good." Joel looked at the New Yorkers shaking their heads on the dance floor, and his heart finally settled down.

Because of the unsightly injuries on his face, he could only stand on the stage. Ryan completed the entire live DJ performance by himself for the first time, singing songs and using words to enhance the atmosphere. He did everything with ease, and then he pushed the atmosphere to a climax with a song called Tremor.

This brought a pleased smile to Joel's face, and he started recording Ryan's live performance with his mobile phone.

This was Ryan's request, and he said he would edit the footage and send it to social media to interact with fans.

Ryan successfully completed his part of the performance and left the stage amid the cheers of the crowd in the nightclub. Then it was Dead Rat's turn to go on stage. In fact, he was the protagonist of the day, and Ryan was just warming up for the performance.

The lights on the scene dimmed, and the helmet on the dead mouse's head began to glow! This indicated that a new performance was about to begin.

At this time, Ryan had come to Joel. After watching the live footage just filmed, he walked towards the nightclub staff and saw two people whispering to each other.

"Don't wander around here, I'll be back soon." Ryan said to Joel, then turned and left.

·
The gorgeous fireworks were particularly eye-catching in the dark nightclub. Several male waiters stood in front of the table, holding light signs with "Ace of Spades" printed on them and swaying them to the rhythm to attract the attention of people around them. This was a regular "performance" in the nightclub. As long as someone opened the Ace of Spades (an expensive champagne), staff members would line up like this to perform the opening ceremony, accurately controlling the consumers' desire to be in the spotlight.

If a male customer orders a drink, several scantily clad female waiters will come on stage. Conversely, if a female customer orders a drink, it will be like this.

This time, the usual ceremony of opening the wine had an extra step added. The DJ, who had just been performing on the stage, held a tray and placed the wine on the table.

Being able to have the DJ show up in person certainly makes the scene more grand than having an ordinary waiter.

This made the vice president of the sorority, who was celebrating her birthday today, even happier. She smiled so hard that she could hardly close her mouth and quickly tipped the DJ.

This was the fifth table of guests Ryan had met today. He readily offered to take a group photo with everyone, and then naturally greeted these female college students.

"Then I have to wish the president a happy birthday."

"Pi Beta Phi sorority? I heard it's a national sorority with 20000 members? That's impressive."

"You guys are having a second party later? I see."

Ryan had sat among these female college students without knowing when. He was not after the tip, but wanted to find some people, some students from New York University, preferably those who were active and could form an organization. The people from the Pi Beta Ph sorority could be considered Ryan's ideal target.

Seeing how enthusiastic the DJ was, other people present asked Ryan questions about electronic music from time to time, and of course some people also praised Ryan for his handsomeness.

At this time, Ryan calmly mentioned that he used to be a model living in Manhattan's East Village. Several female college students at the scene suddenly realized and screamed collectively.

"No wonder he's so handsome." The roommate ate fruit while glancing at Ryan not far away, then whispered to Elizabeth beside him.

But Elizabeth, still immersed in grief and anger, had no mood to look at the handsome guy. She picked up her phone and prepared to leave.

"Where are you going?" my roommate asked hurriedly.

"Go to the 'base' and set up the party." Elizabeth shook her head, just wanting it all to be over quickly and go back to sleep.
