Chapter 479 The Deadly Car Accident on the Highway

Chapter 479 The Deadly Car Accident on the Highway

After filming wrapped on Pirates of the Caribbean, Link returned to Los Angeles with the film reels to edit and begin post-production.

I took some time out to attend an internal screening of "The Truman Show".

Filming for "The Truman Show" wrapped up in April.

The film uses few special effects, and the soundtrack and background music were produced concurrently with the film's production.

The post-production workload is not large, and since the production department of Guess What Film Studio is now only responsible for the production of his films, the post-production speed is faster than before.

The preview screening of "The Truman Show" was a great success. After the film ended, everyone who was invited to attend cheered. Monica, Michelle Pfeiffer, Julianne Moore, and a few other women were quite sentimental and were moved to tears during the screening.

Quentin Tarantino was also displeased when he congratulated him on making a good movie, saying that this kind of movie shouldn't be made by someone like him who's obsessed with money.

Directors Sofia, Tim Robbins, and Richard Linklater praised The Truman Show for its high artistic merit, comparing it to films like Saving Private Ryan and The Shawshank Redemption.

After watching the movie, Jim Carrey repeatedly thanked him, saying that the film made him no longer an actor who relied on nonsensical performances to attract audiences, but a serious and dedicated actor.

The system also gave the movie a very high rating.

His involvement in the film was 75.1%, the film's completion rate was 98.3%, and the film's market fit was 89%.

The rewards include a 2.7x box office bonus; a 15% increase in director experience; a 15% increase in director physical fitness; and a 16% increase in film quality.

"Link, congratulations! Your company has another blockbuster movie out of the bag."

Michael Ovitz, barely suppressing his jealousy, laughed and congratulated him.

"Thank you! However, The Truman Show is an art film with a high viewing threshold, so it's uncertain whether it will be a big hit after its release."

"Haha, you're too modest. Other people's movies can be uncertain, but your movie is guaranteed to be a box office hit. How about we make a bet? Let's bet ten million."

Ovitz laughed.

"Forget it, there are two things I hate most in my life: gambling and drugs. I never touch either of them."

"Haha, you're really disciplined."

Ovitz said with a forced smile, cursing inwardly, "This bastard says he doesn't gamble, but he made tens of millions from betting with me a few years ago. Now that he's won money, he says he hates gambling. How shameless!"

If Link could hear Ovitz's thoughts, he would definitely deny his statement, because that bet was risk-free, no different from finding money, and could not be considered gambling.

"Link, congratulations on making another great movie."

Robert Shea, Greydon Carter, and others also came to offer their congratulations.

After the screening, Link and his girlfriends drove home.

"Honey, you've been so busy these past few months, you haven't had a break at all. Now that the movie is finished, how about you take a few days off?"

Monica leaned on his shoulder and asked.

"Our next movie starts filming in October, and we can take a two-month break in between. Do you want to go to the island for a vacation?"

Link looked at his girlfriends and asked.

"Great, going to the island for a vacation sounds nice."

"I miss the beaches and sunshine on the island."

"There are too many paparazzi in Los Angeles, so I feel more at ease on the island."

Monica, Michelle, Sandra, Jennifer, and others all expressed their opinions.

Link smiled, thinking of the carefree times he spent with his girlfriends on the island, and he couldn't wait any longer.

However, besides enjoying his vacation with his girlfriends, he had another purpose for going to the island this time—to learn how to fly a plane.

This idea has been around for a long time.

After reading the script for Pearl Harbor, he decided to turn the idea into reality.

If you know how to fly a plane, you could pilot it during the filming of "Pearl Harbor" and shoot more exciting shots from the air, thus improving the quality of the film.

In addition, Lanai Island has an airport, making it convenient to learn how to fly a plane there.

As for safety, with his current abilities, he is confident that he can survive even if the plane explodes in mid-air.

Furthermore, if you learn to drive, you can take your girlfriends on aerial dates.

This is something that sounds very appealing.

Link hugged Monica and kissed her fragrant hair.

boom!
Squeak, squeak, squeak!

Suddenly, a tire exploded outside the window. Immediately afterward, a minibus veered off course and crashed into a van, which then collided with a sedan on the left. Link's van suddenly accelerated as the accident occurred, avoiding a car crashing into it from the side, and came to a stop on the side of the road.

Several cars nearby couldn't brake in time and collided with each other. The sounds of crashes and brakes filled the air.

In less than ten seconds, the road from Hollywood Boulevard to Beverly Hills became a mess.

After the car accident, Link's van and the bodyguard's car behind it stopped, and the bodyguards took out their weapons and stood ready.

After the car in front moved away, the two vehicles continued to move forward and quickly left the scene of the accident.

Personal safety is more important than curiosity.

"What a pity, those guys didn't even make a move."

In the next lane, a gray Buick was parked on the side of the road. Bald Johnson watched the departing van and said something.

"It's a pity."

The assassin, Jon, saw the chaotic driveway in his rearview mirror.

Earlier, when they started following Link's car from downstairs at the Guessing Movies building, they discovered that a group of armed men were also following him, seemingly intending to harm Link.

To hasten a fight between the two groups and make it easier for him to profit from the conflict, the assassin Jon shot at the tires of the minibus, causing traffic chaos and creating an opportunity for the militants to act.

Unfortunately, after Link's car stopped, the group remained seated inside and did not make a move.

No fighting broke out between the two sides.

Neither of them had a chance to pick off the others in the chaos.

“Let’s go, there’s still a chance. The movie ‘Armageddon’s Day’ is released on Friday. Link is the director, so he’ll definitely be there. We’ll find another opportunity to make our move then.”

Bald Johnson started the car and drove away.

"Link, what just happened?"

Inside the van, after leaving the scene, Monica and the others kept glancing back at the accident site.

"It's so hot, there's probably a car tire that's blown out."

Link said nonchalantly.

"That was too dangerous; it almost hit our car."

"Don't worry, we are safe."

Link put his arms around Monica and Michelle's waists.

After the car returned to the villa on the mountaintop, he parted ways with the women and went to the security building for a meeting to ask Bob, Hong Youfu, and others for their opinions.

The two men stated that the initial sound was a gunshot, not the sound of a car tire exploding.

To the average person, the sound of a tire exploding and a gunshot are not much different, but to a soldier who has been on the battlefield, the difference is significant, and they can distinguish them even on a noisy highway.

Link called Wallace to investigate.

Half an hour later, Wallace called to say that his men had found a group of eight armed men at the scene of the car accident. The car contained not only long and short guns, but also grenades and rocket launchers.

After learning about the situation, they arranged for someone to follow the militants and contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to make the arrest. A firefight broke out between the militants and the Los Angeles Police Department on Interstate 10.

The firefight lasted for six minutes.

The police were outmatched.

The militants drove away.

Their men are still tracking the militants, trying to find out where they are.

"Am I their target?"

"There is a possibility, but we are still investigating whether it is true or not."

“I have some spare cash, about $100 million. You contact the Los Angeles Police Department, and if they can take down these people, the money will be transferred to the police department’s account as a donation.”

"Boss, the Los Angeles Police Department is not very effective in combat. Instead of asking them to handle it, it's better to hand it over to Blackwater. They are much stronger and can wipe those people out in less than two minutes."

Wallace suggested.

"The police have a legitimate reason to arrest gang members. Blackwater is a security company and does not have law enforcement authority, so it is inconvenient for them to take action. However, the Los Angeles Police Department can request protection from Blackwater during operations, which can reduce the number of police officers they lose."

"Okay, I'll make arrangements right now."

After hanging up the phone, Link instructed Bob and Hong Youfu to send more people on patrol to prevent any accidents from happening.

Upon arriving in the backyard, my girlfriends were having a party by the pool in their bikinis, a truly beautiful sight.

He chuckled softly, changed into beach shorts, and joined in.
