Late Han Zhao Tang
Chapter 8 Two Things Ji Han Avoids
Chapter 8 Two Things Ji Han Avoids
Book friends have doubts about Ji Han’s titles and taboos. Although I have explained them in the previous book, I will explain them again to make it easier for new book friends to understand.
To put it bluntly: The "Ji" in Ji Hanzhong does not mean smaller than in "Bo, Zhong, Shu, Ji", but means the last.
The name "Late Han" may seem strange, but if we quote the words of Qin Shihuang, we can probably understand it.
"From now on, the posthumous name system will be abolished. I am the First Emperor. Future generations will count me, the second, third, and even the tenth generation, and the line will be passed on endlessly."
Therefore, Ji Han’s intention can be understood as the hope that our dynasty will never be extinct.
Why did later generations refer to Shu Han as Ji Han?
The Shu Han Dynasty was revived in Shu, and the Eastern Han Dynasty took the initiative to be promoted to the Central Han Dynasty. Therefore, the minister Yang Xi called the Eastern Han Dynasty the Central Han Dynasty and the Shu Han Dynasty the Ji Han Dynasty.
What is the evidence that Ji Han refers to the Eastern Han Dynasty?
Liu Yu was a man of integrity and loyalty. How wonderful! He was a great leader of the Later Han Dynasty! - "Book of the Later Han: Biographies of Liu Yu, Gongsun Zan, and Tao Qian"
"The Chronicles of the Three Young Emperors" in "Records of the Three Kingdoms" states: "In the past, the Eastern Han Dynasty was torn apart and the nine territories were overthrown. Liu Bei and Sun Quan took advantage of the situation to cause trouble." (From the perspective of Cao Wei, the Eastern Han Dynasty was the last dynasty of the Han Dynasty, not the Shu Han Dynasty.)
At the same time, during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, there was the folk song "Han Zhi Ji".
Taboos in the Eastern Han Dynasty were not as strict as those in the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties, and there were no specific laws or regulations.
Wang Hong is a real historical figure and Wang Yun's elder brother. His name is also recorded in history books.
In the same period, the "Monument to Fan Min, the Prefect of Ba County" had "Zhao Zu Mi Xi", which did not avoid the taboo of Emperor He Zhao; and "Jing De Bing Ming", which did not avoid the taboo of Emperor Chong Bing.
At the same time, combined with the three taboo events of Zhuanghou being changed to Zhuanghou, Xiucai being changed to Maocai, and Shubanglu being changed to Shuguolu, I personally speculate that the taboos in the Han Dynasty seemed to be more at the official level, and there were no specific requirements for individuals.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion. Since there is not much information left from the Eastern Han Dynasty, we can only guess based on the details.
Today is 7k, still at the time points of 16 and 21.
