Chapter 107: Contract Master

In the world view of DND, there are numerous spells with different effects. They are either learned by the wizard through studying arcane tomes, or inherited through the magical bloodline of the warlock, or bestowed by the gods with supreme power...

The spells that can be learned by different spellcasting professions are different. Some special spells only exist in the spell lists of certain professions. Therefore, when a spellcaster masters spells that do not belong to the spell list of his profession, it is called an extended spell list.

Ivy's wizard class ability, the Philosopher's Stone, can be considered a means of expanding her spell list. By consuming the Philosopher's Stone, Ivy can cast a Greater Restoration spell or a Wake the Dead spell. These two 5th-level spells are not on the wizard's spell list, but belong to the spells of priests, bards, artificers, or druids.

Cassandra used Ivy's black magic mark to cast the 0-level magic energy explosion, which is also a magic that only exists in the spell list of the contract magician. As the almost only means of output for the contract magician, the damage caused by the magic energy explosion is noble force field damage, which can exert its greatest power when facing material entities in the real world. The so-called contract magician is a spellcaster who establishes a contractual relationship with a supernatural entity in another world and obtains the secret energy of the master through the contract, using it as the source of magic power.

He paused and continued, "Voldemort is now just a shadow, a ball of steam. He used dark magic to temporarily eliminate the possibility of death, but this also brought the threat of death to himself. All we need to do is destroy his Horcruxes, and Voldemort will be trapped between life and death forever, until everything he has dissipates in the wind."

"Horcrux?" Cassandra raised her head, and a light seemed to burst out in her emerald eyes.

"It's an evil but stupid black magic," Ivy took out the Tome of Command over Monsters from the Grimoire of Destruction. Its predecessor was Tom Riddle's diary, Voldemort's first Horcrux. "Through black magic, a part of his soul is split from the main body, and then it is sealed on an object protected by magic. As Ivy finished speaking, the magic of chaos turned into a golden chain, wrapping Cassandra's arm tightly, and the other end was tied to Ivy's finger. This was a variation of the unbreakable magic oath between wizards. The oath that needed to be witnessed was twisted by Ivy into a spell of an unequal contract, once again strengthening the bond between the master and the servant.

As Ivy said, after Cassandra's death, her soul still belonged to Ivy, just like the devil took the souls of mortals through contract fraud.
