Chapter 109 Sad Eyes

Chapter 109 Sad Eyes

"Are you serious, Harry? Even if I almost had my arm bitten off by that evil dragon, it won't stop you from feeding it?" Walking on the path outside Hogwarts Castle, Ron was still trying to persuade his good friend to give up the idea of feeding the dragon.

"We finally got rid of Hermione, but now we have to face that dragon again!" Ron's voice was filled with despair. "If I had known this earlier, I would have drowned in the ocean of knowledge!"

"Come on, Ron." Harry stepped forward and advised softly, "Hagrid is our friend. You don't want to wake up one day and find that Hagrid's cabin is just a pile of ashes, do you?"

"Even if the cabin was really set on fire by the dragon, I don't think Hagrid would be sad. Instead, he would praise it for doing a good job!" Ron rolled his eyes and followed Harry's pace.

Although the weather was getting hotter, the nights in the Scottish Highlands were still freezing cold, so the students at Hogwarts still wore long sleeves, and Harry and Ron were no exception.

The two men wiped the sweat from their foreheads due to the scorching sun, turned the hill in front of Hagrid's door, and came to the door of the cabin.

Yaya, who was always the first to greet them, was now tied to the door. He wagged his tail at them listlessly. It seemed that even a warm-hearted person like him could not resist the scorching sun.

Hagrid's cabin was no different from the last time they came. It was still completely blocked off, with no light getting in.

Harry and Ron looked around to make sure no one was following them, then they went up and knocked on the door: "Hagrid! Here we come!"

However, no one responded, only Yaya hummed softly a few times.

"Looks like no one's here," Ron said to Harry happily. "I guess Hagrid has remembered his duty as a gamekeeper! In that case, let's go back! If we're in a hurry, we can even play a couple of games of wizard chess!"

Harry looked closely and saw a large brass lock on the wooden door. Perhaps Hagrid was not in a hurry when he left, at least he remembered to lock the cabin.

"I was wondering..." Harry felt a little uneasy, "Would he leave Norbeta alone in the cabin?"

"Maybe he took it to the Forbidden Forest," Ron speculated. "Even if it's Hagrid, you can't think so badly of him. Don't worry about him, let's go back to the castle!"

However, Harry yanked him and dragged him to the side of the hut: "Someone's here!"

"Who?" Ron staggered for a moment before he stood firm, then immediately stuck his head out and looked outside, "Where is it?"

"Forbidden Forest!" Harry stared at the direction of the Forbidden Forest nervously. As the gamekeeper of Hogwarts, Hagrid's cabin was only a few steps away from the Forbidden Forest. "It's Dumbledore! And Professor McGonagall!"

The man in bright blue robes and a big white beard was obviously Dumbledore, and standing next to him was Harry and Ron's head of house, Professor McGonagall.

It was clearly break time, but due to students' natural fear of professors, Harry still pulled Ron and hid.

The two professors walked in front, followed by Hagrid, who was smiling and looked very happy. In contrast to Hagrid's bright smile, Professor McGonagall's expression was very serious, with her eyebrows knitted together and her mouth tightly pursed.

The three of them came out of the Forbidden Forest and headed towards Hagrid's cabin.

"Hide quickly!" Harry pulled Ron to hide on the side of the cabin, out of the sight of the three people.

"Are you sure, buddy?" Ron followed him into hiding, but he didn't stop talking. "Eavesdropping on the conversation of three adults? Two of them are professors?"

"Shh..." Harry felt a little embarrassed. He was reluctant to admit that he couldn't suppress his curiosity. Fortunately, the three adults quickly approached the cabin, and Ron didn't seem to want to face Professor McGonagall, so he shut his mouth.

"I still can't believe it." Professor McGonagall's tone was full of doubt. "How could they be so kind? They would allocate a sum of money for no reason, just for the 'overall development of students'? Moreover, I didn't see any words of discrimination against Muggle-born wizards in the wording of the letter."

The three of them stopped in front of Hagrid's cabin and continued their unfinished conversation.

"Calm down, Minerva." Dumbledore comforted her gently, "Aren't all the directors of Hogwarts 'that kind' of pure-blood wizards." "Albus, you actually believe them?" Professor McGonagall's face was full of surprise, "The more harmless they act, the more frightened I feel."

"I don't believe them, but at the moment, building a 'Fantastic Beasts ..."

Dumbledore paused, and Hagrid quickly added, "'Specialized training base for breeding and reproduction.'"

"Yes, the term 'Specialized Training Base for Breeding and Propagating Magical Animals' is too confusing." Dumbledore went on to say, "...This will be completely harmless to Hogwarts for the time being. On the contrary, it can provide students with many things that they cannot learn in the classroom."

"Yes, I saw that, too." Professor McGonagall said gloomily, "That's why I didn't object vehemently. Although I can't imagine the original intention of those who call themselves pure-blood nobles, this base is indeed a foreseeable good thing."

"So it's done, then?" Hagrid rubbed his hands together, his mouth almost grinning from ear to ear.

"Far from it, Hagrid!" Professor McGonagall looked up at Hagrid's smiling face and said seriously, "I must warn you again that you are only allowed to show the review team the magical creatures mentioned today! No Chimeras or Dragons!"

"Of course, of course! I understand!" Hagrid opened his hands to show his innocence. After a pause, he asked with a bit of reluctance, "Isn't it possible for Fluffy too?"

"Of course not a three-headed dog either!" Harry and Ron, who were hiding behind the cabin, could imagine the expression on Professor McGonagall's face, "It also has to guard 'that thing'!"

Even after Hagrid's repeated assurances, Professor McGonagall still glanced at him with an uneasy look several times, as if Hagrid was about to pull a dragon out of his pocket.

"Speaking of 'that thing'," Professor McGonagall groaned for a moment, "What's going on with Professor Quirrell? Dumbledore? You were not at school the day he disappeared, and Hagrid reported to me that a unicorn corpse appeared in the Forbidden Forest, with large areas of burnt marks... What exactly happened in the Forbidden Forest? You could have kept silent about it before, but now the review team is going to visit magical animals in that forest, and we can't let anything happen to them!"

"Minerva..." Dumbledore shook his head. "I cannot tell you yet, but I can assure you that there is no other danger in the Forbidden Forest."

"What about Professor Quirrell?" Professor McGonagall continued to ask, "Although he was not very attentive when teaching, he was once my student after all!"

"Quirrel is a dark wizard who has surrendered to Voldemort." Dumbledore hesitated for a long time before speaking softly.

Hearing that name, Professor McGonagall and Hagrid shuddered at the same time: "What? How is this possible! The You-Know-Who was defeated eleven years ago! Besides, Quirrell almost grew up under my watch, how could he be a dark wizard?"

"I have said enough about this matter, Minerva." Dumbledore glanced at Hagrid's cabin, then turned and walked towards the castle. "Voldemort has not completely disappeared. He may return at any time, so we must remain vigilant."

Professor McGonagall hurried to catch up, but after only a few steps, she turned back and reminded Hagrid: "Don't tell anyone about the You-Know-Who, okay, Hagrid?"

"I promise! Professor McGonagall!" Hagrid nodded vigorously.

"Well, I wish you and Sylvanus a successful presentation. We will build that magical beast... that base at Hogwarts." Professor McGonagall patted Hagrid's arm as encouragement, then quickly caught up with Dumbledore.

Harry and Ron looked at each other behind the cabin, and saw their pale faces in each other's eyes.

"You-Know-Who!" Ron gasped suddenly, as if someone had grabbed his neck before. In fact, he just forgot to breathe. "Dumbledore said that You-Know-Who will come back!"

"He found us!" Harry was still recalling the look in Dumbledore's eyes before he left. There was a kind of determination in those ice-blue eyes, but when he looked at himself again, there was always a sense of sadness.

"Who?" Ron's face turned even paler, and he asked pleadingly, "Hagrid?"

"Dumbledore."
