Chapter 191 Part 1 of the truth

Chapter 191 Part of the truth
Snape always wore a black robe, had a big slicked-back hair, and walked through the corridors and stairs of Hogwarts like a bat.

Harry had always thought that his Potions professor was a thin man, but he didn't expect that when he was pinned down by him, he felt that this man was very heavy.

Harry used his hands to tear open Snape's black robe, leaving a little breathing space for his mouth and nose, while trying to wake him up: "Professor?"

Snape didn't react at all.

"Stupid bird! Bad bird! Stinky bird!" The giant snake that swam out of the Chamber of Secrets roared angrily. Harry understood that this was a chance for him and Snape. They must leave the bathroom quickly and evacuate everyone in the castle while the Phoenix entangled the giant snake.

A three-headed snake ran away before, and now there is a giant snake of unknown appearance. It seems that Hogwarts is not far from closing down.

Just when he finally pushed Snape's body aside and let his brain get some fresh air, a steady voice sounded.

It was still a hissing snake language, but Harry could understand it: "Go back to the Chamber of Secrets! You are not allowed to leave without my order!"

The giant snake that was fighting the phoenix stopped and hissed in confusion: "Who are you? I have never seen you before..."

"As the Heir of Slytherin, I command you to return to the Chamber of Secrets!"

Harry looked in the direction of the sound, but only saw a gorgeous magic book floating in the air.

The magic book floating in the air was Ivy's Grimoire of Destruction.

As a Scribe wizard, Ivy gained the professional feature of spiritual manifestation at level 6, which allows her to summon the consciousness in her spellbook.

The summoned Grimoire consciousness is seen as a miniature spiritual object that can float on the ground. The summoning distance is 60 feet, the movement speed is 30 feet, and the maximum distance from Ivy is 300 feet.

The summoned grimoire spirit can hear and see, and can share the images it sees and the sounds it hears with the caster through telepathy.

Because the Grimoire Consciousness was considered an object, and the Basilisk's murderous gaze was obviously only effective against living things, Ivy was able to observe the entire bathroom environment and command the Basilisk through Parseltongue.

The basilisk, who had only heard Ivy's voice in his dreams, was obviously not familiar with his orders, so he seemed quite hesitant and confused.

During this time, Ivy also noticed Harry and Snape lying at the door, and without hesitation, he immediately cast a 2nd-level Shaping spell, Darkness.

The effect of darkness is very simple. It can make the spherical space within a radius of 15 feet be shrouded in magical darkness. Even creatures with dark vision cannot see through this dark space. Ivy believes that this method can effectively cover the murderous gaze of the basilisk, or at least turn its effect into petrification.

Harry's surroundings suddenly became dark, and no light could penetrate. This made Harry unable to help but let out a scream.

"Don't panic, Harry," Ivy said. "The monster in the Chamber of Secrets is a basilisk. The darkness will prevent you from looking it in the eye."

"Professor Snape!" Harry calmed down and shouted, "Hurry and take a look at him. He's in a very bad condition..."

Perhaps Slytherin's reputation had always remained in the basilisk's heart. After weighing the pros and cons, it returned along the original passage in the bathroom.

Ivy, who saw everything through the magic book's divine sense, breathed a sigh of relief. He thought he had to kill the basilisk today.

He then controlled the magic code's spiritual consciousness to fly downwards with the basilisk, and was not completely relieved until the link was disconnected.

"It's okay, Principal. The basilisk has left." Ivy removed the darkness spell and emerged from the corridor.

Dumbledore quickly turned the corner of the corridor, first looked at the wall that had been broken by the Runespoor, and then walked into the bathroom that was flooded.

At this time, Harry had already stood up with the help of Ivy. He felt relieved when he saw Dumbledore was there: "Principal..."

"Merlin's beard..." Dumbledore could hardly hide his shock, but his tone was as calm as usual, "Harry...what on earth happened here?"

"You'd better take a look at Professor Snape first..." Harry pointed at Snape on the ground and said, "When the big snake appeared, he stood in front of me, and then..."

Only then did Dumbledore realize that there was another person on the ground. He squatted down to take a look and found that his two long white eyebrows were tied into a knot.

"Severus, he..." Dumbledore spoke hesitantly, then looked up at Ivy.

"I'm afraid he made eye contact with the basilisk." Ivy said his judgment softly, "And it was a direct eye contact."

Dumbledore sighed and patted Harry on the shoulder: "He is dead, Harry."

"Impossible!" Harry screamed, and only then did he have time to look closely at Snape's face.

There were deep nasolabial folds on that sallow face. He always had an expression of deep hatred and resentment, but now it was different. His eyebrows were slightly furrowed, his eyes were glaring, and his lips were tightly pursed, as if he was ready to fight at any time.

However, Harry did not see a single color in his face, only a pale deathly gray.

Harry couldn't understand all this, he just stared at Snape's face in a daze, even the cry of the phoenix couldn't attract his attention.

"Fawkes?" Dumbledore exclaimed in surprise. "Didn't you just finish Nirvana? When I saw you this morning, you were still a fledgling with only feathers half grown."

"It's not Fawkes." Ivy stretched out his arm, and the beautiful big bird leaped down from the sky and landed steadily on his arm. "It's Sparks, the phoenix I raised a hundred years ago. It's been so long, I thought it would never return to Hogwarts."

"This is the second phoenix I have seen in my lifetime." Dumbledore sighed, "So many things happened today that I am not surprised at all... and Severus... Alas -"

"Let's go to the headmaster's office and talk about the basilisk," Ivy suggested. "Take Harry and Professor Snape with you."

"We do need to talk about the basilisk." Dumbledore said with a serious expression, "But before that, there are other things to do."

He waved the elder wand in the air, and everything in the bathroom flew up. The debris scattered on the ground automatically repaired the wall in order; the wooden cubicle that was crushed into powder was restored to its original state in the blink of an eye; the water that was spilled on the ground flowed back into the ceramic water tank; the toilet that was cut by Snape's sharp sword also spun and pieced itself together and jumped back to its original position.

As for the still open passage to the Chamber of Secrets, Dumbledore turned the wash basin into a giant cast iron bottle stopper, blocking the passage tightly and even sealed it with many iron chains. Even if ten elephants came, they might not be able to pull out the iron stopper.

Seeing that everything was ready, Dumbledore directed Snape's body to float up: "Let's go."

Harry was still in a daze and had to be pulled by Ivy to move forward.

When they passed the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, they heard some clanging noises from inside, but no one paid any attention to it and just walked forward.

"Hey! Headmaster!" Lockhart called after them. "What can I do for you - ah!"

Before Lockhart could finish his words, Dumbledore pointed his wand.

He suddenly flew back into the office and the wooden door slammed shut in front of him.

The world is temporarily quiet.

----

"Please sit down." In the headmaster's office, Dumbledore produced two chairs and a long table to place Snape's body, and sat behind the desk.

All the headmasters in the circular room were whispering about Snape at the table.

Harry sat down in a daze. A plate of gold coin chocolates appeared in front of him. He looked up at Dumbledore.

"Eat something, Harry," Dumbledore said softly. "You will need this."

"Professor Snape, he won't stand up again?" Harry asked, just glancing at the gold coin chocolates on the plate.

"No," Dumbledore replied.

"He won't take any more points from me?" Harry asked again.

"Not anymore."

"He won't look at me with that hateful look anymore?"

"No, I won't."

"He won't threaten to fire me again?"

"of course."

"He obviously hates me, so why is he standing in front of me?" This is the question Harry wants to ask the most. "As long as it's me who makes eye contact with the basilisk... Harry Potter will no longer be a problem for him... But why?"

"Draco Malfoy is also your mortal enemy, Harry," said Dumbledore. "Why did you save him?"

"That's different!" cried Harry.

"No difference." Dumbledore smiled. "Severus made the same choice as you did. You both did what you thought was right."

"But..." Harry wanted to say something else, but in the end, he couldn't say anything.

"You are calm now, aren't you?" Dumbledore directed the kettle to make him a cup of hot tea. "Now, tell me what happened."

Harry nodded, silently recalling the whole incident.

"Oh!" he suddenly cried, "Did you see the three-headed snake? It has also run out of the secret room!"

"Three-headed snake?"

"Professor Snape said it was..." Harry tried his best to imitate the words he had only heard once, "...a Luliwen snake...it was the size of a whole room and it broke through the wall and got away! The Phoenix and the Basilisk came out of the pipe after it."

"If there really is a giant Runespoor serpent wandering around the school..." Dumbledore instructed the headmasters on the wall, "Notify all the portraits in the school, ask all professors to be on alert, and gather all the students who are staying in school! By the way, look for the portraits near the third floor and ask them if they have seen a three-headed giant snake!"

The old men and women on the wall stopped talking, nodded silently and left the principal's office.

"Apart from its size, the Runespoor is not difficult to deal with. Don't worry, Harry." Dumbledore signaled to Harry that he could continue.

"Wait a minute." Ivy interrupted, "I have a question to confirm. Did the sparks fly out of the pipe? Or the Runespoor?"

Harry nodded.

"Then how did they get in?" Ivy slapped his forehead as soon as he asked, "I shouldn't ask you."

He waved to Phoenix Spark, who jumped onto Fox's perch as soon as she entered the room and was now tilting her head to look at her own kind.

Ivy cast the animal conversation spell on himself and began to ask Sparks about the whole story.

The cry of the phoenix echoed in the principal's office. The more Ivy listened, the more surprised he became. Finally, he screamed out loud: "This is impossible!"

Of course, Harry and Dumbledore didn't understand what Sparks said, so they could only stare at Ivy with puzzled eyes.

"This is too bizarre." Ivy shook his head, closed his eyes and organized his words before beginning to explain.

"You two have heard that I once raised many magical animals a hundred years ago, and Sparks was one of them."

"At that time, I kept all the magical creatures in the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor, and a house-elf named Diego took care of them for me."

"More than a hundred years have passed, and I thought all those magical creatures were sent away by Diego. But Sparks told me that they are still in the Room of Requirement, even Diego."

"About a year ago, Diego found that he could not leave the Room of Requirement, either by magic or by simply turning the doorknob. Fortunately, the Room of Requirement still functioned, and Diego could still conjure up food, so the large herd of animals inside did not starve to death."

"Originally, they had planned to stay there for the rest of their lives, but six months ago, the magical animals there began to disappear frequently and then reappear."

"Diego was able to discover this because of a purple-horned beast. It's called the Sea King, and it's ridiculously large, so it's impossible for it to hide in the Room of Requirement."

"It now seems that those disappeared animals have come to the current Hogwarts. Even every incident related to magical animals since the start of school this year is because I raised them in the Room of Requirement a hundred years ago."

Dumbledore slapped his forehead and said, "This is indeed too bizarre... the evil bird that appeared in the first-year flying class..."

"I have a flock of them. There is at least one pair of each of the four colors. They were all captured... rescued from the Forbidden Forest." Ivy shrugged.

"The monster running rampant through the dungeons on Halloween..." Harry said, eyes widening.

"It must be the King of the Sea. It can even knock down a giant monster with one head."

"The black dog that attacked Filch..." Dumbledore remembered old Filch's complaint.

"It's a half-blood crup. A merchant sold it to me. It was still a black puppy at the time. A year is enough for it to grow to that size. And Filch is a Squib. Cups are always fierce towards non-wizards."

"The runespoor in the bathroom wall..." Harry was dumbfounded.

"Rescued from a dark wizard's monster arena. They put muzzles on each of its heads, so it could grow so big. In the wild, the three heads of a runespoor will attack each other."

"No wonder you want to keep a dragon in the castle!" Harry shouted, pointing at Ivy.

"You even wanted to keep that basilisk!" Dumbledore said angrily. "I should punish you by making you a gamekeeper!"
