Chapter 298 The First Resurrected Person
After finding out what Ivy wanted, Snape was the first to leave the Room of Requirement.
Before he left, he placed the purse on Ivy's desk.
Seeing his actions, Sirius trembled all over, immediately pushed Harry away, ran out of the door, and ran away after Snape.
While chasing, Sirius shouted: "Snotlout! Stop right there! You are not allowed to destroy James and Lily's grave! The task of bringing their remains here can only be done by Harry's godfather!"
"Hand it over to a guy who hasn't even prepared the money?" Snape's sinister voice was lower, but just as penetrating. "You are still the same as before, only caring about your own feelings, Professor Black."
Harry was actually quite embarrassed to see two very important men in his life arguing over his mother, especially since one of them was his godfather and the other had risked his life to save him.
"Ah." Ivy showed the expression of someone who just remembered something again. "Did I tell them that they don't have to bring the whole body? Just a part will do, a bone or something."
"Of course you didn't tell me." Dumbledore shook his head and waved his wand to summon a silver phoenix. "But I can help deliver the message."
After repeating Ivy's words to the Patronus, Dumbledore commanded the silver phoenix to fly towards the door.
"Okay, Harry, now you can tell me your story about the afterlife." Ivy conjured up two more stools and gave them to the two old men who were still standing in the room.
"Okay, my mother calls it the spirit world." Harry draped his legs over the stone table and enthusiastically recounted what he had seen and heard in the spirit world.
No one interrupted him, and Ivy successfully learned many characteristics of the spirit world.
Just like what Ivy guessed, the spiritual world is a very idealistic place. Not only does movement require thinking, but even the scenes seen are related to one's own cognition.
Listening to Harry taking great pains to describe how he met his parents, Ivy couldn't help but interrupt him: "Didn't you try to cast a spell in the spirit world?"
Since the way of moving in the spiritual world is just as he thought, relying on the power of thought itself, the wizard's magic should also be effective.
After all, "magic is the power of belief." If you can find a specific soul in the spirit world through thoughts, then it must be possible to do so through spells and casting.
Who would have thought that Harry would say as a matter of course: "I was naked when I woke up, and I didn't even have a stick in my hand. How could I use magic?"
This is true. Harry is only in the third grade now. It is not easy for him to successfully learn the disarming spell and brain occlumency. How can we expect him to master the wandless casting skills that are rare even among adult wizards?
Who knew that Harry's next words would shock everyone present: "Although I didn't cast a spell in the spirit world, I really met someone who could use magic!"
Harry now had time to look at the two old men in the Room of Requirement, and was surprised to find something in common between them.
"Professor Dumbledore... that is..."
"That's my brother, Aberforth." Dumbledore nodded. "I haven't heard you say that until now. Have you seen Ariana in the spirit world?"
"Yes..." Harry's mind was obviously still immersed in the fact that his old headmaster actually had a younger brother. "The person who used magic I was talking about was Ariana."
"She can use magic in the spirit world?" Ivy suddenly became interested. "What kind of magic? Like a ball of black oily magic?"
"The light in the spirit world is very strange. After I met Regulus, it was difficult for me to detect the colors in the spirit world." Harry recalled, "But it should be very close to Ivy's description. It was a ball of dark magic that could carry her flying in the air."
Ivy's question and Harry's answer made the two old men tense up, because that was exactly the image when the Obscurus was activated. If it was really as they said, the restless magic in Ariana would most likely follow her back to the real world.
"When I saw her, Ariana was fighting." Harry continued, "Her opponent was a dragon? Or something else? I can't remember clearly... Anyway, it was a very strange shadow with many extra limbs. It looked evil, very evil."
"But Ariana's magic is very powerful, and it can even destroy the land of the spirit world." Harry stretched out his hand and gestured in the air. "The land was lifted up, and those very rare and strange trees were uprooted and thrown onto the shadow monster in the air. Later, Ariana summoned a whirlwind and tore the shadow monster into pieces in the air!"
"The reason why I think the monster was a shadow is because it didn't leave any corpse or blood. After it broke into pieces, it turned into mist. Ariana seemed to have picked up something from what it left behind..." Harry felt that his memory of the spirit world began to become gradually blurred. "I can't remember what she picked up, but it should be a glowing thing... However, after I told her my purpose, Ariana quickly agreed to resurrect. She also said that she was very happy to see her brother again... Ah! She said 'brothers'! I just noticed it now!"
"Ivy." Harry asked with a confused expression, "My memory of the spirit world is becoming fuzzy. Is this normal? It's like trying to scoop water with your hands... Although I have tried my best to clench my fingers, they still disappear from my memory bit by bit..."
"I think it's your brain protecting itself." Ivy thought for a moment and made his own judgment. "A living person obviously shouldn't know what the spirit world looks like. Your brain is instinctively rejecting the information from death. Don't worry, I don't think it will cause any harm to you, but maybe you still need some rest and food."
"Ah..." Harry rubbed his stomach, "I do feel hungry."
"Breakfast time should not have passed yet. You can find some food in the auditorium. If you go down the stairs quickly enough, you can even find some fried fish with butter." The old principal gave very pertinent advice, "Wait until your two professors come back, then we can discuss the resurrection of your relatives together."
"Great, I was just thinking of having some fried fish with butter!" Harry jumped off the stone table, greeted the three people in the Room of Requirement, then turned and ran out.
Watching Harry leave the door of the Room of Requirement, Ivy shifted her gaze back to Dumbledore's face. There was no doubt that the old wizard had something to say to Ivy that was inconvenient for Harry to know.
Because Ivy's original intention was to let Harry eat in the Room of Requirement, and Chef Poppy's cooking skills were no worse than the Hogwarts kitchen, whose menu had hardly changed in a thousand years.
Ivy knew very well that most of the menus in the kitchen were provided by Helga Hufflepuff herself, and this taste had been popular in Hogwarts for a thousand years.
"The magic that Harry mentioned..." the old wizard said hesitantly, "Could it be Ariana's Obscurus?"
"You have already made your own judgment, right?" Ivy asked, "The Obscurus magic that the Obscurus lost control of will disappear along with their death. If the magic did not disappear out of thin air, then where did that power go?"
Ivy continued to analyze, "But now there is good news. Ariana seems to be able to control the Obscurus in the spirit world. But the other bad news is that Harry quickly lost his memory of the spirit world after he came back. If Ariana has no memories of the spirit world after resurrection, then it may cause the Obscurus to go out of control again."
Ariana and her Obscurus were the first similar events Ivy had experienced in his life. In the past, he had only learned about this kind of magic caused by mental trauma in books.
However, from his perspective, there was a very high possibility that these magical powers were mixed and out-of-control emotions.
Because not only are they very similar to Avi's ancient magic, which is a mixture of many emotional powers from others, but they also instinctively protect the Silent Ones themselves.
In other words, the outward manifestation of Obscurus looks like ancient magic fused with emotions, while the inner logic of action is similar to the love magic that Lily casts on Harry.
Ivy didn't expect to see so many forms of wizard magic in just one day. This may give him a deeper understanding of the source of wizards' magic.
"If Ariana has to suffer again, I would rather she sleep forever underground..." Aberforth took great effort to finish this sentence.
Ariana's death was caused by a fight between the Dumbledore brothers and Grindelwald. During the fight, it was unknown who cast a spell that hit Ariana, who was trying to stop the fight. By the time they found out, they had already made a big mistake.
Later, Aberforth broke his brother's nose with a punch at the funeral, and Dumbledore has kept the wound until now. Everyone who sees him will guess that the old wizard's nose has been broken at least twice.
"Don't worry about that. I will be responsible for curing Ariana's rampaging Obscurus magic." Ivy said with a smile, "Based on my current theory, I think the essence of the Obscurus is a group of distorted negative emotions. Because the little wizards are deliberately suppressing their magic, the emotions hidden in their hearts are completely mixed with the magic, and appear when their self-control is reduced, and then start to stir up trouble."
"Although I haven't seen any Obscurials or their Obscurials in person, I saw something similar from Harry yesterday." Facing Aberforth's distrustful gaze, Ivy showed the crystal bottle containing Lily's love magic.
As soon as the warm magic appeared, it immediately attracted the attention of the two old men.
"That's..." Dumbledore had recognized what Ivy had put in the crystal bottle. "Lily's love magic?"
"That's right." Ivy nodded in acknowledgment, "It's not easy to bypass its defense. Although it trapped Voldemort's soul fragment very tightly, it also protected it to some extent. So I had to eliminate it as a whole first, and then deal with Voldemort's soul fragment. Fortunately, my ancient magic is quite good at doing similar things." "You are not only the savior of Hogwarts, Ivy." Dumbledore seemed to have relaxed a lot, and his lips, which had been tightly pursed in his white beard, also showed a smile, "You are also Dumbledore's savior."
"Are you sure that will really work?" Aberforth seemed to be born to go against his brother. His beard and eyebrows stood up, revealing an angry face.
"Since Ivy can master the magic of resurrecting others, it won't be more difficult to deal with Obscurus." Dumbledore comforted him, "In fact, I am just worried that Ariana will suffer more..."
Aberforth snorted coldly and stopped talking. After a while, he stood up from the chair, dropped a small bag of coins, and walked out the door.
Dumbledore called after him, "Perhaps you could dig out the spell book from back then! I think Ariana would like to go to school!"
Aberforth turned around and glared at his brother, then left without saying anything.
"Waiting is really anxious, Ivy." Dumbledore smiled bitterly and shook his head. "I have never been so excited for tomorrow as I am now."
"Tomorrow will always come." Ivy also smiled, "But no matter how much we expect or resist it, it rarely changes its pace. Unless we encounter magic."
"Yes," Dumbledore exclaimed, "except for magic."
----
With the exception of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, the professors at Hogwarts rarely disappoint. Although Sirius serves as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this school year, he is one of the few professors in this group that makes people feel at ease.
The two professors didn't keep Harry waiting for long before they came back together.
It's not clear who made the concessions, but at least they looked well-dressed and no one was hurt.
"Sirius?" Harry asked hesitantly. "You don't look well?"
"Not good" was just Harry's euphemism. To sum it up, it was like being cornered and beaten up, but he had to pretend nothing had happened for the sake of face.
"No way?" Sirius pulled the corner of his mouth, "Let's go find Ivy, everything he needs is here."
"Um... maybe we could go to Madam Pomfrey's office first?" Harry cautiously asked his godfather for his opinion.
Sirius glared at Snape beside him and said irritably, "I'm fine! We are all fine! Go find Ivy!"
Sirius left first, while Snape stayed where he was, blocking Harry's caring words with his cold eyes.
"I guess you're fine too, Professor Snape..." Harry said, and turned to chase his godfather.
As he went up the stairs, he glanced back worriedly and found Snape limping up the stairs.
"I hope his leg wasn't bitten by a dog again..." Harry muttered and ran up the stairs.
"Ah! You're back?" Ivy put down the silver knife in his hand, picked up the napkin on the table and wiped his mouth. He was having a meal, which he thought was a way to replenish his energy.
"We saw Dumbledore's brother in Godric's Hollow..." Sirius tilted his head and said to Dumbledore, "I didn't know you used to live there..."
"That's all in the past." Dumbledore also wiped his mouth. He had chosen to dine at Ivy's before. "Let's get started. As we agreed before, shall we resurrect Harry's mother first?"
No one present had any objection, especially Regulus's brother, who expressed the same opinion.
Ivy stood up, walked to the stone table where Harry had been lying before, and knocked on the table with his hand.
Under his powerful transformation magic, the table top kept changing, and in the blink of an eye it turned into a stone container that could hold an adult. You could call it a coffin or a stone basin. If you wanted to add a little magical flair, you could also call it an alchemical cauldron.
"Please put the part that belongs to Lily in." Ivy said to Sirius, pointing to the alchemical cauldron in the middle of the room.
But what no one expected was that it was Snape who took action.
He pulled out an exquisite velvet bag from his bosom and reverently took out a piece of hand bone, just as a believer would treat the remains of a saint.
After his initial confusion, Ivy had almost guessed how Snape had made Sirius compromise - using James Potter as a hostage, a dead hostage?
All in all, in the eyes of Sirius, a man who could lay down his life for his friends, Lily might not be as important as his best brother.
His feelings towards Harry, which were both fatherly and brotherly, were most likely a projection of James.
But none of this is important to Ivy. Apart from giving him the feeling of watching a real-life family ethics drama, it doesn't give him any other stimulation.
Ivy took out the Hufflepuff gold cup, put one of her own seven-ring spell slots into it, and used part of the Philosopher's Stone as the diamond worth 1000 gold coins in the resurrection spell.
Bubbles began to emerge from the golden cup, as if it was boiling, but when the overflowing liquid flowed through Ivy's hands, he did not feel any excess heat.
The liquid pouring out of the golden cup was a brilliant pure gold, like a flowing sun. As soon as the golden liquid came into contact with Lily's hand bones, it spurted out many bubbles and smoke crazily, blocking everyone's sight.
But Ivy did not panic. His hand holding the golden cup did not waver at all. He just let the golden solution flow over the edge of the cup and down.
The process of liquid gushing out of the golden cup lasted for a full hour, and Ivy remained in this position for an hour without moving. During this hour, the people standing around the alchemical cauldron and watching did not dare to breathe. Only when they felt suffocated would they secretly breathe in the mist in the air, for fear that their loud breathing would affect Ivy's casting.
The one-hour casting time was over. Ivy took back the golden cup that no longer gushed out liquid and waited with everyone else.
There was a sound of water coming from the alchemical cauldron, as if someone was moving inside, followed by a louder sound of water, and a bright red color appeared in the hazy mist.
Snape was the first to rush to the alchemical cauldron and reached out to support the figure sitting inside.
But Ivy's magic was faster than him. He waved his hand to summon a large velvet sheet, which completely covered the alchemical cauldron. Because Ivy had dark vision and low-light vision, his eyesight was better than others. He had already discovered that Lily, who was sitting in the alchemical cauldron, was not wearing any clothes, and her bare back was facing him.
"This is indeed my mistake, ma'am." Ivy reminded the others, "I forgot to prepare clothes for you."
Snape struggled and reluctantly stopped in front of the alchemical cauldron, then slowly backed away.
"Harry?" Lily, who had wrapped herself in the sheets, called out to her son first, "Where are you? Let me see you!"
"Mom!" Harry almost cried. To be more precise, he had already cried. "I missed you so much!"
Looking at the mother and son huddled together beside the alchemical cauldron, Ivy coughed slightly: "Ahem - let your mother put on some clothes first. My cook can help."
Ivy snapped her fingers, and Bobby, the cook with twin ponytails, appeared. She said excitedly, "Bubbles has lots of little skirts! Bubbles can help this beautiful lady!"
