Chapter 322: Secrets That Can Be Revealed
Chapter 322: Secrets That Can Be Revealed
The fact that Harry became the fourth champion in the Triwizard Tournament caused an uproar in Hogwarts.
The Slytherins all thought that he had stolen Ivy's honor as the only warrior in Hogwarts, and after the banquet, they began to plot how to give him a warning.
Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff still maintained a neutral stance, but they were very curious about what means Harry used to have his name chosen by the Goblet of Fire.
As for Gryffindor, they could organise a feast whenever they wanted, and Harry's election as Champion would give them an excuse to avoid Professor McGonagall's stern eye.
When Harry returned to the eighth floor of Gryffindor Tower, he found the Fat Lady discussing with the other characters in the portraits how he became a warrior.
The Fat Lady looked at him kindly and said jokingly, "Well, well! Look who's back? Isn't it our Gryffindor champion? Violet told me everything, little Harry!"
This dry witch named "Violet" did not live up to her name at all. Harry did not expect that the portrait would spread gossip.
"Nonsense." He said dryly. He didn't intend to waste any more time at the door. He needed to have a good rest now, and then start thinking about what the first event of the Triwizard Tournament would be. It would be best if he could make some targeted preparations.
"I'm not talking nonsense!" the Dry Witch shouted angrily.
"No, Violet," the Fat Lady reassured her friend as she unscrewed the portrait, "Harry just said the password."
When the Fat Lady's portrait was opened, the noise and bustle in the common room seemed to overwhelm him like a flood, and he almost fell on his back.
The Gryffindors in the common room were all cheering, and the tables were covered with all kinds of cakes, roasts, candies and ice creams, which must have been brought in from the kitchens.
Everyone was clapping and whistling, almost blowing Harry's crown off.
"How can you become a warrior without growing a beard!" George and Fred no longer have white beards on their faces, but they are still upset about it.
Angelina rushed over like a gust of wind. She was the only Gryffindor student Harry knew who had successfully thrown her name into the Goblet of Fire: "Even if the champion is not me, I am still a member of Gryffindor!"
Countless arms reached out from all directions, stuffed butterbeer and biscuits into his hands, patted his shoulders and back, and asked him to explain in detail how he passed Dumbledore's age line.
Harry's eyes patrolled the crowd back and forth, and finally saw Ron munching on chocolate cake in a corner.
He broke free from George and Fred who were surrounding him, shook off Lee Jordan who wanted to drape a Gryffindor flag on him as a cloak, and avoided the Creevey brothers who were about to take a picture of him, and finally sat next to Ron.
Ron's bulging cheeks twitched twice, and he seemed to be saying something, but the surrounding environment was too noisy and Harry couldn't understand.
Seeing that Harry didn't respond, Ron grabbed another piece of pudding on the table and stuffed it into Harry's hand.
Harry sighed and silently ate the pudding his friend stuffed into his mouth, while waiting for Ron to swallow everything in his mouth.
"So you weren't the one who put your name in the Goblet of Fire, were you?" Ron said, finally swallowing his mouthful of cake.
Harry was very surprised. If he had to find someone among the Hogwarts students who was willing to believe him, besides Ivy, it would only be Ron and Hermione: "Yes!"
"I knew it." Ron didn't seem surprised at all.
Looking at the still reveling crowd, Harry couldn't help but feel curious: "They all think that I threw my name into the Goblet of Fire on purpose, and somehow managed to get past Dumbledore's age limit test. Don't you have any doubts at all?"
Harry didn't expect Ron to burst out laughing. "The warriors' opponent is Ivy! That Ivy! The ancient wizard who can easily do things that others can't do and make all the Slytherins obey him! Since we already knew that he would participate in the Triwizard Tournament, I don't think you would ask for trouble. Besides, from what I've observed, you don't care about your fame at all. You even enjoy having someone like Ivy help you attract attention."
"After seeing what happened to Lockhart in my second year, I'm starting to think that fame isn't a good thing," Ron said sincerely. "Think about how late you stayed up to teach Snape and Sirius, and how many opportunities you missed to play cards and chess in the common room."
In fact, taking dueling lessons under Snape and Sirius was not as difficult as Ron said. Harry actually quite liked wizard duels.
But it was indeed a pity that he missed the chance to play Thunderbolt Explosion Cards and Wizard Chess, because Voldemort's Death Eaters were always watching him.
"I think this year's Triwizard Tournament is a huge conspiracy!" After slightly discarding his desire for fame, Ron inevitably turned into a conspiracy theorist. "Think about what happened in the Quidditch World Cup final? The dark wizard killed by Percy with Pyroblast? It is said that that was Goyle's father, one of the two big guys who always follow Malfoy. We haven't seen him since school started, and no one knows where he went."
"I wouldn't be surprised if those unrepentant Death Eaters were planning to attack you in the Triwizard Tournament," Ron said softly, looking alertly at the Gryffindor students around him. "Professor Trelawney is right, you are in great danger now! But don't worry, I'll support you!"
"Ron!" said Harry, touched. "I never thought of these things together... but now that you mention it, it makes me feel very strange... maybe the person who put my name in the Goblet of Fire was Malfoy's father. I saw him in that little room."
"What? Really? This kind of thing is not suitable to be discussed here." Ron stood up and collected a lot of food from the table in the common room. "Tomorrow is Sunday, and we have a lot of free time. Maybe you can think about everything that has happened recently, and then we can discuss it with Hermione."
Harry nodded. He had never realized that Ron was such a smart character. Now he knew that if Ron set his mind to something, he could always come up with all kinds of ideas to achieve his goals, whether it was a good situation or a bad situation.
"By the way." Ron, who was holding a pile of food, asked again, "What does Ivy think of you becoming a warrior? He must not believe that you put your name in, right?"
Harry shook his head, "I didn't ask, but he didn't seem to care much... Oh, and he even offered to average the grades of the two Hogwarts warriors!"
"Great..." Ron breathed a sigh of relief. "It seems that he doesn't care much about this matter, whether it is the Triwizard Tournament itself or your becoming a warrior. To be honest, I can't imagine the scene where the champion of the Triwizard Tournament will be won by someone other than Ivy."
"I can't imagine it either." Harry nodded approvingly.
----
Harry woke up peacefully on Sunday morning as usual. Although he became the champion of Hogwarts yesterday and most of his classmates thought he had played some tricks, the fact that his best friend was willing to believe him was enough to make him feel excited.
He drew aside the curtains of the four-poster bed, wanting to see Ron's condition, to hear him analyze the situation of the Triwizard Tournament for him, or simply to hear a few of his wisecracks.
But there was no sign of Ron in the dormitory. In other words, no one was there except Harry himself, even Neville, who always loved to sleep late, disappeared.
Harry got dressed and walked down the spiral staircase to the common room, where he was still greeted by cheers and applause. But this did not make him feel proud, it only made him feel hot on his face. After winning the Golden Snitch in the Quidditch Cup, Harry would enjoy everyone's cheers, but becoming a champion of Hogwarts was not his intention, so he just felt embarrassed.
Harry didn't want to waste his time being treated as a mascot by the people in the common room, so he walked around the Creevey brothers who were waving at him and walked towards the doorway.
When he pushed aside the portrait of the Fat Lady, he happened to meet Hermione and Ron.
They were carrying a lot of bread with raspberry jam and a jug of milk.
"Hey! I thought you needed some rest, so I didn't wake you up." Ron greeted him, shaking the milk jug in his hand, "We thought you might not want to go to the Great Hall, so..."
"That's right." Hermione nodded seriously, "I heard that Slytherin is going to make trouble for you... because of what happened last night... maybe we should find a place to take a walk."
"Great!" Harry nodded gratefully, "That's exactly what I needed!"
So the three of them went downstairs and walked through the entrance hall, not even planning to pass through the auditorium door. They walked around the fountain in front of the library and came to the castle courtyard.
The grass is no longer as green as it was in summer, but has turned the withered yellow of autumn.
Durmstrang's ghost ship rested on the Black Lake, adding a dark reflection to the water surface.
Harry dipped the jam bread into the milk and put it in his mouth.
"It is said that the first project is to test our courage to face the unknown." Harry wiped the milk stains from the corners of his mouth, "But I don't understand what we will encounter."
"Being a champion in the Triwizard Tournament is a very dangerous thing," Hermione said worriedly, "At least half of the champions died in this competition."
"So you agree with my guess?" Ron said affirmatively, "This is a conspiracy to put Harry to death! It must have been done by the Death Eaters of the You-Know-Who."
"Combined with what happened in the World Cup, the followers of the You-Know-Who must have taken action..." Hermione shook her head pessimistically, "But our first priority is to ensure that Harry survives the Triwizard Tournament."
"If they want to kill me through the Triwizard Tournament, then they are making a mistake!" Harry encouraged himself and tried to comfort his two friends. "I have been trained in dueling for nearly two years. I will never surrender!"
"I think you'll encounter dark creatures, or more dangerous magical animals, in the Triwizard Tournament." Hermione looked at the giant octopus in the Black Lake, which was stretching out its tentacles to reach the water plants on the ghost ship.
"In 'Hogwarts, A History' there are descriptions of several Triwizard Tournaments, especially those where people died. The casualties among students are usually caused by dangerous magical animals, such as the Manticore, the Cockatrice, and other scary creatures. Although some of them are from duels between wizards, compared with the casualties caused by magical animals, they are really insignificant." Hermione introduced the information she found in the book, "So I suggest you go find Hagrid, he has experience in dealing with those dangerous guys."
"But Harry may not be able to use them!" Ron expressed a pessimistic view, "Hagrid raises giant spiders and dragons in the Forbidden Forest, not because he has a high level of magic."
"At least Harry can learn some habits of dangerous magical animals." Hermione looked very annoyed. She couldn't think of how a fourth-year student could deal with a magical animal of level XXXXX. "Anyway, there is no shame in seeking help from the professor."
"Yes." Harry nodded, "I'm going to find Mrs. White."
"Mrs. White?" Hermione asked incredulously, "You can't even protect yourself, and you still care about the relationship between her and Snape..."
"No, no!" Harry waved his hands quickly, "You misunderstood... Actually, she..."
Looking at the concerned faces of his two friends, Harry said, "Actually, Mrs. White is my mother, and Mr. White is my father."
Ron looked at him with concern and put a hand on Harry's forehead. "...You seem to have a fever. Let's go find Madam Pomfrey! Maybe you have a phobia of the Triwizard Tournament!"
"They're resurrected." Harry slapped Ron's hand away and said seriously, "It was Ivy who did it. Remember the Philosopher's Stone that was placed under the three-headed dog in the first grade? Ivy got that and created a resurrection spell based on immortality."
"The first person he resurrected was Professor Snape. In order to protect me, he looked into the eyes of the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, and died instantly." Harry decided to tell his friends all the secrets he had kept. If he really died in the Triwizard Tournament, at least his two good friends could help take care of his parents.
"Ivy used his own stone to resurrect Professor Snape, but his resurrection magic had many limitations at the time and was unable to resurrect people who had been dead for more than a year. As a result, my parents didn't return from the dead until this summer vacation." Harry continued, not paying attention to his two friends' jaws that were about to drop to the ground.
"Wait... Doesn't that mean Ivy can revive anyone he wants?" Ron's quick mind quickly thought of a way to make money. "There must be many people in the world who are willing to revive their dead relatives. If I charge some money..."
"Resurrection is a very difficult magic. Resurrection from death is not an easy thing either. It requires a considerable price." Harry interrupted Ron's delusion. "It takes 10,000 gold Galleons to revive one person. My father and Sirius are trying to return the gold to Ivy as soon as possible. That's why Mom came to Hogwarts to be a professor."
"That's pretty cool..." Ron muttered, "Ah! I suddenly understand! So Snape's attitude towards you has changed 180 degrees because he fell in love with your mother? Oh my God!"
"Come on, Ron," Hermione said calmly, "We're trying to figure out how to get Harry to survive the Triwizard Tournament! Not worrying about the professors' love lives!"
"In fact, I've long felt that it's not surprising that Ivy can do anything with magic." Hermione sighed, "I don't know if he will stay on to teach at the school, but by then I will have graduated from Hogwarts... Maybe Ivy just regards participating in the Triwizard Tournament as a pastime after studying magic, and he would be a better person to consult!"
