Chapter 66 Christmas Gift
Chapter 66 Christmas Gift
The Malfoy family's secret library was built under the living room, which could be considered a basement.
It was pitch black here, and there was no other light source except the light emitted from the wand.
Although this basement was decorated to the same standard as the ground building, in Ivy's discerning eyes, it was completely useless and could only be used as a dungeon.
There was no magic used to enchant the walls to reduce the damage caused by dark magic to the building itself; there were no good insulation and preservation measures, and the potion materials placed here would soon be covered with mold; there were no measures to counter Apparition, and before throwing a prisoner in, it was necessary to take the trouble to confiscate his wand to ensure that he would not escape.
As for those so-called black magic props, they are just some common and useless items.
Or it could be human tissue that belonged to either Muggles or wizards, including broken teeth, heads wrapped in dried flesh, and blackened severed hands.
Or there are gorgeous personal items, including silk scarves embroidered with hydrangeas, dancing shoes as red as blood, exquisite tea sets, and armchairs piled with cushions.
In Ivy's opinion, these gadgets are not black magic items at all.
Because at most they blind a few eyes, break a few bones, or make people seriously ill. As long as the person who is infected is not too stubborn and seeks medical treatment in time, there is a good chance of survival.
Ivy even felt that the black magic items piled up in the basement were not as deadly as a few of his biting cabbages.
"Look at this, Ivy." Malfoy came over holding what looked like a nightcap. "This is a nightcap that can suffocate your enemies in their sleep! Look how cool it is!"
"I think..." Ivy considered her words, then realized sadly that no matter what, this nightcap was completely rubbish. "No one would be stupid enough to go to bed with a nightcap given by their enemy."
Malfoy's excited expression froze in an instant. After looking at the nightcap in his hand again, he threw it aside without hesitation, and then continued to rummage through various dark magic props while cursing.
"Mr. Doom." Lucius approached Ivy cautiously while his son wasn't paying attention. "It seems the Malfoy family's collection doesn't satisfy you?"
"Maybe." Ivy remained noncommittal, watching the little dragon on her shoulder dive into the nightcap that Malfoy had thrown aside.
"I don't know, have you heard of Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets?" Lucius tried to make his voice a little mysterious, and Narcissa looked very terrified when she heard the word "Chamber of Secrets".
Ivy looked Lucius up and down. He had originally thought that he would have to use the Imperius Curse to get Voldemort's diary, but he didn't expect that the suggestion released by his eyes would be enough to make Lucius take the initiative to talk about Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets.
"Which Slytherin doesn't know that?" Ivy said with a smile. "He's the most ambitious of the Big Four. The Chamber of Secrets is his most famous legacy at Hogwarts."
"That's right," Lucius said immediately, pulling out an ordinary-looking notebook. "It's said that the secret of Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets is hidden in it. Unfortunately, it's a wordless book, and I don't have the ability to decipher it."
The notebook was given to Lucius by Voldemort himself. When Voldemort was still alive, he did not have the courage to study it; when Voldemort disappeared, he had no reason to open it. In short, Lucius shrewdly did not touch this secret that did not belong to him.
"But perhaps, as the most outstanding Slytherin in a century, Mr. Doom has the ability to unlock the mystery." Lucius stepped forward and put the black-covered notebook in Ivy's hand. Ivy did not speak, but smiled and flipped through the notebook in his hand. Except for the name "Tom M. Riddle" written in unclear black letters on the first page, there was indeed no other text on it.
The last page of the notebook lists its dealer, a newsagent in Vauxhall Road, London. Of all the Horcruxes Voldemort possessed, this is the only one that seems to have been purchased legally.
"Very good." Ivy put the notebook away and looked Lucius in the eye. "It is indeed the most powerful dark magic item in this building."
Looking at Ivy's dark eyes and half-smile, Lucius suddenly felt a little regretful for handing it over to Ivy so easily.
----
Early in the morning on Christmas Day, Ivy was awakened by the sound of an owl hooting and flapping its wings.
In the guest room of the Malfoy family mansion, Ivy's ceramic dragon was flying around chasing the owl in the room.
Ivy couldn't understand who would write to him, and so many letters at that - there was a row of owls standing outside the window. Although the window was only half-closed, they didn't have the courage to fight a dragon, even if this dragon was smaller than them.
Ivy reached out to call Xiaolong back, stood up to check the situation, and then let out a sigh of realization.
Those owls were coming to bring him Christmas presents.
In his previous life, the only Christmas-related gifts Ivy had given or received were ordinary apples. He had never imagined that there was a custom of giving gifts to each other on this day.
When he was studying at Hogwarts more than a hundred years ago, he was busy fighting crime and saving magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest most of the time, and he didn't really notice the existence of Christmas. Because Ivy didn't often go back to the dormitory, he usually slept directly in the Room of Requirement.
When he was in the Room of Requirement, the owl's positioning spell was obviously ineffective, so Ivy never received any Christmas gifts, let alone gave gifts in return to others.
Thinking about it now, his classmates did seem hesitant to talk during those few days, but everyone knew that Ivy was very busy, so in the end no one told him about the Christmas present.
Most of the gifts brought by owls were from Slytherin students at Hogwarts, even though Ivy didn't remember all of their names.
There were candies, dresses, tools for maintaining broomsticks, books on the dark arts, a mirror that gave outfit advice, and tons of greeting cards.
Ivy initially thought about returning all the gifts, but the idea of this rule only lingered in his mind for a second before disappearing without a trace.
Finally, he decided to write a greeting card to each person in response, but not by hand. Remember? Ivy is a scribe wizard, with a magic feather pen that can write automatically, and the handwriting it writes can change colors freely, which is very convenient for writing greeting cards.
