Chapter 15 Your Son's Seeds Are Bad

There is indeed no such provision in the law. Families in the village who haven't had a son choose to continue having children, thinking that if they have ten or eight, they'll eventually have a boy.

Before Chen Jinbang could answer, Chen Sanbao had already broken down.

"Who are you calling a rotten cucumber? Who is impotent?" He pointed at Li Ruru, his hand trembling with anger.

A man's biggest pet peeve is being told he's incapable.

"It was me, what's wrong with what I said?"

Li Ruru looked resolute. Seeing that Chen Sanbao was furious, she added insult to injury: "Besides my wife, who would know that you are impotent?"

She shook her head as if she remembered something, "Oh, why don't you ask Zhang Junniang if you're even capable?"

Chen Sanbao was dumbfounded. He realized that he could not prove his innocence himself, nor could he ask Junniang to prove it.

Li Ruru suppressed a laugh. It would be really funny if Zhang Junniang were to step forward and reveal her secret right now.

Zhang Junniang chose to remain silent, as did Chen Jinbang, who chose not to answer Li Ruru's question.

But he forgot that he had a difficult and unreasonable old woman in his family.

Zhao had been throwing a tantrum on the ground, but she held back when she heard Li Ruru say she wanted to divorce her husband, and she also held back when she saw her son being beaten.

At this moment, she had clearly reached her limit, and the old woman jumped up from the ground.

"We're divorcing you because you can't give birth to a son, so what?"
If you were any capable, you would have let me hold my grandson long ago.

"Your land is no good, whose fault is that?"

Li Ruru really wanted to educate this ignorant old woman about biology, but looking at her ugly face covered in wrinkles, she felt nauseous.

"Mom, have you ever heard the saying, 'You reap what you sow'?"

"Your son is a bad seed; even if you plant him in the sky, he won't bear any fruit."

The sentence was concise and clear, and the crowd first burst into laughter. Isn't the sex of a child determined by the woman's womb? What does it have to do with the seed?

After the initial amusement, upon closer reflection, there's some truth to that statement.

Could it be that Chen Sanbao's seed is really no good?
Chen Sanbao felt the scrutinizing gazes of the crowd, and some people were even openly staring at his lower body.

He instinctively tightened his body, looking at Zhao Shi with a wronged expression, "Mother!"

As expected, a mama's boy will call on his mother first when in doubt.

Zhao didn't care about seeds or anything like that; she believed that as long as she changed her daughter-in-law, she would immediately be able to hold her grandson.

Although she already has three grandsons, there's no reason why anyone would complain about having too many grandsons.

"Third brother's wife, I advise you to obediently sign the agreement, otherwise..."

She then gave the three girls a vicious look, "They're not going to get away with this."

The divorced woman can't take her children with her, so now the three sisters are easy targets.

Sanya sensed her grandmother's unfriendly gaze, burst into tears, and threw herself into Li Ruru's arms.

Daya was heartbroken and didn't know what to do.

Er Ya suddenly spoke up: "I want to stay with my mother, even if she is divorced, I will still stay with her."

As long as their mother is there, they have a home. Seeing this, Daya and Sanya firmly expressed their desire to stay with their mother.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

A loud male voice rang out, and everyone immediately quieted down, taking a few steps back to make way.

The village head slowly walked up to the crowd, and Pan Dayan quickly recounted the events.

"Village head, Chen Sanbao wants to divorce Li Ruru because she can't have a son, and Li Ruru wants to divorce Chen Sanbao because he's having an affair. The three children want to stay with their mother."

Li Ruru looked at Pan Dayan with satisfaction. This woman was indeed her perfect wingman, getting straight to the point.

“Sanbao, you will be punished for doing such a thing.”

“Lu Da, what retribution? Ask yourself honestly, don’t you want a son?”
What's wrong with the Chen family wanting a son to continue the family line?

An elder of the Chen family with a gray beard suddenly spoke up; he had been invited by Chen Bingxiao to help.

Chenjia Village is a village with many surnames, with the majority of people in the village having the surname Chen, hence the name Chenjia Village.

The village head was not a member of the Chen family; his surname was Lü.

But he wasn't intimidated by the group of Chen family elders. "It's not wrong to want a son, but it's wrong to bully a weak woman just to have a son."

Before the elders could say anything more, Lü Da cut them off swiftly, giving them no chance to speak.

"Since we can't live together anymore, let's get a divorce."

As for the children, they can stay with whomever they want. They're not young anymore; they can make their own decisions. "A divorce?" Zhao exclaimed in surprise. She hadn't considered this at all. "No way! If she doesn't agree to a divorce, I'll divorce her!"

Lu Da shoved her aside, saying, "What's it to you?"

Zhao was speechless. How could this have nothing to do with her?

She is Chen Sanbao's mother, the matriarch of the family.

Several elders of the Chen family objected vehemently, "No, we do not agree to a divorce."

Lu Da shouted, "It has nothing to do with you! Look at you, a bunch of people with half your bodies in the ground, instead of staying at home, you come here to cause trouble. You are simply disrespectful to your elders."

That's a very unpleasant statement, even somewhat disrespectful.

But as the village head, he naturally wouldn't allow anyone to challenge his authority again and again.

The elders were so angry that their chests heaved, and they almost couldn't catch their breath. They dared not say anything more.

They are the eldest in their own families and in the entire Chen family clan, but the village head is the real boss of the entire Chen family village.

It is an authoritative document officially stamped and recognized by the government!

"Chen Sanbao, Li Ruru, do you agree to a divorce?" Lü Da asked.

"I agree!" Li Ruru was the first to speak. "If we divorce, will I be able to get my dowry back?"

The village head nodded. "Of course."

He then looked at Chen Sanbao and asked, "Are you mute? Can't you speak?"

"I..." Chen Sanbao habitually looked for his mother, but after searching for a long time, he couldn't find Zhao Shi anywhere.

"I...disagree," Chen Sanbao said softly.

Li Sururu sneered: "If you don't agree to a divorce, then let's divorce. Once I divorce you, you'll leave with nothing and won't get a single penny."

Chen Sanbao's mouth dropped open. Could that really be true?!

He subconsciously looked at Chen Jinbang, who glanced at him with a slight smile. His third aunt really could do that.

After thinking for a long time, Chen Sanbao finally nodded helplessly, "I...agree."

Sure enough, if someone doesn't want to open a window, you have to break down their wall before they'll give in and open the door.

“Alright, then let’s write the divorce papers! Jinbang, I’ll say it, you write it.” Lü Da made the final decision.

"it is good."

Chen Jinbang nodded obediently. The general content of the divorce agreement was that Li Ruru's dowry would be returned, and from then on, the two would owe each other nothing.

After writing the divorce papers and pressing her fingerprint on them, Li Ruru prepared to go inside and move her things.

Zhao, however, threw a tattered bundle at him first, saying, "This is all your dowry. Take these things and get out!"

The bundle was thrown on the ground, from which fell several tattered and almost unwearable clothes.

These things were packed up by Zhao and her eldest daughter-in-law. They were certain that after so many years, Li Ruru herself wouldn't even know what her dowry consisted of.

But Li Ruru just loves to slap others in the face, especially her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

She pulled a booklet out of her pocket. "Village head, could you please take a look? This is my dowry list from back then, which I have kept all this time."

The village head was somewhat surprised. He opened it and looked at it, then said, "This booklet is genuine. You can take everything in it."

Pan Dayan ran over happily and said to Li Ruru, "Little sister, let me help you tidy up."

The Wang brothers, Tie Niu and Tie Zhu, also joined in to help.

Soon, a pile of things was stacked up in the Chen family's courtyard.

There was an iron pot with a hole in it, a broken bowl, a tattered quilt, a rusty hoe, and all sorts of other daily necessities.

Everyone was shocked. Good heavens, did Li Ruru bring an entire family as her dowry back then?

Li Ruru's family doted on their daughter, and since they didn't have anything valuable at home, they gave her everything she would need in the future as part of her dowry.

The original owner of this body had practically ripped her own family dry over the years for the sake of her husband's family. She would take anything good she saw back to the Chen family and give it to those heartless people.

Zhao was heartbroken. Those things were all hers. How could they suddenly be taken away by that vile woman, Li Ruru?
She wanted to throw a tantrum, to lie on the ground and cause a scene, but when she saw the village head's warning look, she couldn't help but shrink back.

That man looks frightening.

Just as Zhao was slapping her thigh in frustration, she saw that her bed had been carried out of her room.

She rushed forward and yelled, "What are you doing? Is there no law anymore? This is my bed!"
