The Great Thunderclap Temple was originally located in the western Mount Sumeru. However, the western Mount Sumeru has now been renamed the Western Sacred Mountain.

The Great Thunderclap Temple is a sacred Buddhist site. The Buddha Tathagata is currently seated in the Great Thunderclap Temple, preaching the Dharma to his disciples.

Suddenly, a ripple appeared in the space within the Great Thunderclap Temple. A Taoist priest stepped out from the spatial rift.

Since the Western religion changed its name to Buddhism, Buddhist disciples no longer dress as Taoists. Instead, they have their own unique attire.

But the person who arrived was a Taoist priest, which puzzled everyone present. They thought it was a disciple of the Xuanmen sect who had come to cause trouble.

After all, nowadays only disciples of the Xuanmen (mystical sect) and Daomen (Taoist sect) dress as Taoists. Among them, the Xuanmen disciples dress more elaborately, while the Daomen disciples appear more casual.

Therefore, everyone present, upon seeing that person in a crisp Taoist robe, instinctively assumed that the other party was a disciple of the Xuanmen sect.

At that moment, the former Medicine Master of the Western Sect, now the Medicine King Buddha, knelt down and said, "Disciple Medicine Master greets Master."

Upon seeing the pharmacist bow, the group of disciples who were originally from the Western Sect turned their gaze to the Taoist's face. After looking at him, they recognized who he was and all knelt down.

Even former disciples of the Jie and Chan sects recognized the Taoist priest. They all knelt down and paid their respects to him.

On the contrary, the lineage of true Buddhist disciples led by the Buddha and Guanyin did not recognize who this Taoist was.

Fortunately, the Taoist priest spoke directly to the Buddha, who said, "I am the incarnation of the benevolent body of the Buddha Mother Cundi, the Bodhi Taoist. I have come to see the Buddha today on the orders of the Buddha to convey the decree of the Taoist Ancestor."

As he spoke, Patriarch Bodhi waved his hand and sent Hongjun's decree to the Buddha.

When the Buddha learned that the other party was the benevolent incarnation of the Buddha Mother Cundi, he didn't even bother to look at Hongjun's decree, but instead immediately rose and bowed to her.

Then he read the decree and, after understanding its contents, said, "Please tell the Buddha Mother that this humble monk already knows what to do."

After listening, Patriarch Bodhi nodded, and then said, "The key to this eastward transmission of Buddhism is the person who goes to retrieve the scriptures. The person who escorts the person to retrieve the scriptures is also the key."

"I will establish a Taoist temple at the Xieyue Sanxing Cave on Lingtai Fangcun Mountain in Xiniu Hezhou. I will train a powerful disciple for the pilgrim to protect him and complete the eastward transmission of Buddhism."

After saying this, Patriarch Bodhi vanished from the spot and headed straight for Lingtai Fangcun Mountain and Xieyue Sanxing Cave.

The Buddha led his disciples in bowing in the direction where Bodhi Patriarch had left.

Then he spoke, saying, "The one destined to lead the journey of Buddhism to the East this time is none other than my second disciple, Jin Chanzi."

"However, to complete the great task of obtaining the scriptures, one must undergo ten lifetimes of reincarnation. Only after ten lifetimes can one obtain the true scriptures. At that time, one can return to Mount Ling and attain the position of Buddha."

As soon as the Buddha finished speaking, a monk walked by. He knelt down respectfully and bowed to the Buddha.

"Since this is my mission, I am willing to go to the Netherworld for reincarnation. After ten reincarnations, I will definitely complete the important task of spreading Buddhism to the East."

This monk was none other than the six-winged golden cicada, one of the five innate insects. After transforming into human form, he was given the name Golden Cicada and became a disciple of the Buddha.

In fact, Jin Chanzi had known all along that he was destined for reincarnation. He even knew better than anyone else what he should do.

The Buddha nodded, then turned to look at Guanyin Bodhisattva beside him and spoke.

"Please, Venerable Guanyin, take Jin Chanzi's true spirit to the Nine Netherworld for reincarnation. As for his physical body, please keep it temporarily in your temple." In the original primordial timeline, Jin Chanzi did indeed reincarnate, but his physical body was not preserved.

After all, at that time, the Buddha no longer considered himself the Daoist Duobao. His sole purpose was to promote the flourishing of Buddhism.

But the Buddha of today will never forget that he is a disciple of Taoism. Naturally, he needs to prepare in advance for what he will need to do next.

Guanyin Bodhisattva nodded and then left the Great Thunderclap Temple with Jin Chanzi. They headed towards their own sacred site, Mount Putuo in the South China Sea.

Upon arriving at the Purple Bamboo Grove, Guanyin Bodhisattva said to Jin Chanzi, "There is the Three Lights Divine Water in my pond. You can leave your physical body here. When your merits are complete, come back here to retrieve it."

Jin Chanzi nodded and stepped into the pond. He then separated his true spirit from his physical body.

Just as Jin Chanzi's true spirit left his physical body, a golden lotus enveloped his body and slowly sank into the pond.

Guanyin Bodhisattva nodded, and then, carrying Jin Chanzi's true spirit, headed directly towards the Nine Netherworld.

Upon arriving at the entrance to the Netherworld, Guanyin Bodhisattva did not enter directly. Instead, she spoke to the ghost guards at the Gate of Hell.

"Please inform the Ten Kings of Hell that Guanyin Bodhisattva of the Western Buddhist sect has something to discuss with them."

Upon learning that the visitor was Guanyin Bodhisattva of the Western Buddhist sect, the ghost guards of the Ghost Gate naturally dared not be negligent and headed directly towards the Ghost Gate.

Although the Nine Netherworld is a self-contained realm, it still gives due respect to powerful figures from all sides.

Of course, this consideration of saving face is also targeted. If it's reasonable, one naturally won't put the other party in an overly difficult position.

On the contrary, if they were to push their luck, the Nine Netherworld would not give anyone face, not even the Jade Emperor himself, who would be turned away.

Before long, ghost messengers arrived outside the Gate of Hell, carrying the true spirits of Guanyin Bodhisattva and Jin Chanzi, and headed directly towards the Yama Palace.

Inside the Yama King's Palace, not only do the Ten Kings of Hell sit enthroned, but even the Great Emperor of Fengdu, Dijiang, is now present.

This isn't because Western Buddhism has any great influence, but because they know who Guanyin Bodhisattva is in Buddhism.

Upon entering the Yama's Palace, one could see that apart from the eleven saints from the underworld, there were no other ghost soldiers or demons.

Guanyin Bodhisattva then bowed and said, "Cihang greets all the Earthly Saints. Please, all the Earthly Saints, take Cihang to see Master Houtu."

Dijiang waved his hand and helped Guanyin Bodhisattva to her feet. He then said, "We're home now. There's no need for any more formalities."

Dijiang and the others were naturally aware of the forbearance and humiliation endured by Daoist Duobao and Daoist Cihang, and they greatly admired them.

After exchanging a few more polite words, Dijiang personally led the true spirits of Guanyin Bodhisattva and Jin Chanzi towards the Six Paths of Reincarnation.

Having just arrived at the Six Paths of Reincarnation, she saw Houtu waiting there. Guanyin Bodhisattva hurriedly stepped forward to pay her respects, saying, "Greetings, Lady Pingxin."

After all, there were many people and eyes around, so Guanyin Bodhisattva dared not directly address Houtu as her "uncle-master." (End of Chapter)
