Chapter 30 Empty Pupa
Qin Feng knew that Wei Xi was a promising man, and even the slap mark on Gou Xi's face was still hurting.

So the two of them obediently closed their eyes, even though they didn't know what they would see after closing their eyes.

As a result, they really saw something very disgusting: there were things wrapped inside the white silk cocoons, some of which could be vaguely seen as people, and some were wrapped with animals of different sizes, with things slowly wriggling on them.

Seeing this, the three of them felt a little creepy, and Lian Gou opened his eyes to check if there was anything disgusting crawling on his body.

"No," Wei Xi said calmly, "It only works if it's completely wrapped."

"Are you so sure?" Lian Gou asked while checking. Qin Feng didn't spit it out, but his face didn't look good either, with his lips pursed and his brows frowned.

"There are none that are not wrapped, and there are none that are empty." Wei Xi finished explaining and closed his eyes to observe again.

Lian Gouyue subconsciously looked at Qin Feng, who had a disgusted expression on his face. "She's quite smart. I just saw that it was indeed the case."

Wei Xi ignored Lian Gou's confusion, she closed her eyes and continued to observe.

She was able to discover this because Lingyin was a little too scared. This bird was domineering in the Qingcheng Sect, and there was no reason for it to hide in its cloth bag and not come out just because it was dark.

This means that there must be some danger here that Lingyin can sense but they have not yet noticed.

Wei Xi closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on listening to the sound, but unexpectedly he discovered the secret hidden in the darkness.

Due to the limited light, she couldn't see the silk pupae too far away, but the ones nearby were disgusting enough.

There was a translucent one, nestled inside the silk cocoon in front of Wei Xi. Wei Xi could see it clearly: the contents had become a mixture of solid and liquid, their original shape unrecognizable. Occasionally, a bubble would bubble up.

In the silk cocoon on Wei Xi's left hand side, the things inside were wrapped tightly. Wei Xi could only see something wriggling on the surface. If Wei Xi had to describe it, he could only say that it was like a group of insects having a carnival.

"Will things turn into liquid if they are wrapped in it?" Qin Feng asked uncertainly. "I saw different stages of the process. There was a snake being entangled."

Lian Gouqie shuddered. His calf had been entangled just now, and he didn't dare to act rashly. If it weren't for Wei Xi and Qin Feng, he might have become the prey of this ghost thing while he was hesitating.

"So these silk pupae are devouring things? And then turning them into..." Qin Feng was trying to find the right word, "food? Or what?"

"Let's take a walk and take a look and we'll know." Wei Xi opened his eyes, and the disgusting silk pupa disappeared from his sight, and the silk pupa turned harmless again.

"Do we still want to continue watching these things?" Lian Gou asked. Judging from his expression, he didn't feel any better either.

Wei Xi, the only one who wasn't so disgusted that he couldn't speak, nodded and said, "We need to figure it out before we can find a way out."

"Or we can wait until your sect comes looking for us." Lian Gou's face was full of sincerity. He glanced with disgust at the silk cocoon hanging above his right. He had just seen clearly that everything inside had turned into soup.

Qin Feng looked at Wei Xi, waiting for Wei Xi to express his opinion.

"Wait until you're able to hide again?" Wei Xi asked, grabbing the lantern. "You can wait, but you may not be able to get out alive with that thing."

Qin Feng looked at Lian Gou's face which had lost its sincerity, and realized that this kid wanted to delay until he could use his ability which he didn't know whether it was useful or not. The difference between them was immediately apparent, and Qin Feng chose to go with Wei Xi to check these things.

Wei Xi wasn't sure, but someone she'd met in the mountains had told her that if she was bitten, she could look around for a solution. The herbal medicine book she'd read while on night watch also told her that there was always an antidote within seven steps.

Wei Xi would walk a few steps and then stop to close her eyes to look at this silk cocoon world that hid the secret. Qin Feng thought she didn't have as much patience as Wei Xi, so she held the lantern and the sword in her hand, keeping watch.

Not long after they walked away, Lian Goujie, who had figured things out, caught up with them. Qin Feng swung a sword at him, but Lian Goujie, displaying his thief skills, dodged it.

"That's unnecessary. Look, Wei Xi isn't that angry," Lian Gouyu did not forget to anger Qin Feng at this time. "At times like this, we need to unite and stand together."

"You're smart, just don't stab us in the back." Qin Feng's words were also sarcastic and unpleasant.

Wei Xi suddenly opened her eyes, and the two people hurriedly asked her what was wrong.

"It's okay." Wei Xi shook his head and gestured to continue exploring the surrounding silk pupa settlement.

Wei Xi and the other three had just jumped out of the silk cocoons, and now they were standing on each of them. Looking down through the gaps, they could see another layer. This meant that this thing had at least three layers. Qin Feng raised the lantern and craned his neck to see.

"These things are stacked in at least four layers," Lian Goujie whispered, "which means we fell into the middle of this pile of silk cocoons for no reason and got fucking wrapped up in it."

"We didn't check the silk pupa we opened just now," Qin Feng continued, "If there is no other entrance besides the one we opened, it would be a bit like a cocoon."

After Qin Feng's explanation, everyone began to think these silk pupae resembled cocoons, the kind that entangle themselves in their own cocoons. "If that's the case, how big of an insect would it have to be to produce so much silk?" Lian Gouqie hesitated.

"Lingyin is very scared." Wei Xi said suddenly. Qin Feng didn't follow her thoughts for a moment, and Lian Gou Xie was confused.

"Is there a fourth person?"

Wei Xi took out Lingyin, who was hiding in the pocket above his head and pretending to be dead. Under the light, the bird tried to cover its beating heart with its wings.

"You keep a bird on your head?" Lian Gouyu couldn't understand this strange world of cultivating immortals, and cursed in his heart that all cultivators were crazy.

"You are still hiding in the wall, you thief!" Qin Feng is a very protective person and would never let Wei Xi suffer any injustice.

"I'm hiding it in the wall. If I tell you, you'll be scared to death!"

The two of them were bickering there, and naturally left the task of finding a way out to Wei Xi, who seemed to be good at solving problems.

After walking for a while, Wei Xi stopped, perhaps because he was tired of walking or because he was annoyed by these two people.

"What's the matter?" Qin Feng asked quickly. Even Gou Xie stopped arguing and both of them looked at Wei Xi nervously.

"This place is too big," Weissy said, drawing her dagger from its sheath. "It would take forever to walk around, and I have an idea."

"Why do you have a dagger? I'm just stealing!"

Wei Xi didn't bother to pay attention to Lian Gouyue, who was chattering away. She gestured for Qin Feng to move aside and said, "Verify my idea."

After saying that, Wei Xi directly used the dagger to dig at the cocoon above. His technique was quite skillful. He inserted it, cut his wrist with force, and pulled it out with force. A straight cut appeared on the white cocoon, and the black hole was grinning like a mouth growing out of thin air.

Wei Xi continued to dig with the dagger, and Qin Feng held up the lantern to shine inside for her.

Sure enough, there was a separate cocoon inside. Wei Xi did not choose the transparent one because she really didn't want the solid-liquid mixture of unknown composition to fall on them.

"One layer inside another, just like a coffin." Qin Feng said.

Wei Xi and Lian Gouqie were both ordinary people, and when they died they were given only a thin coffin. However, Qin Feng was knowledgeable and experienced, so he took her word for it.

"What do you think?" Lian Gouqie asked Wei Xi, who shook his head.

"I want to take apart a few more, but I don't know what I can get out of them." Wei Xi stopped wiping the dagger.

Qin Feng was straightforward. "We've already demolished them, so it doesn't matter if we demolish a few more."

Since the decision had been made, the three of them stopped arguing. One of them kept watch, the other held the lantern, and Wei Xi stabbed the wound with a dagger.

How many could be dismantled? Wei Xi stopped and Qin Feng asked her what was wrong and if she wanted to rest for a while.

However, Lian Gouqie frowned as he looked at the mess he had left along the way.

"Wei Xi, you have taken apart all of them, there are no duplicates." Lian Gouqie asked Wei Xi a question, but his tone was affirmative.

After hearing this, Qin Feng recalled that they had just opened the half-wrapped, fully wrapped, and slightly transparent ones - Wei Xi also opened the cocoon within the cocoon regardless of the suspicious wriggling on it, revealing a corpse with a wet and sticky surface. The smell finally succeeded in making Lian Gou vomit out, as well as the translucent and transparent ones.

Wei Xi took a breath and thrust the dagger back in. "There are no repetitions. These are a complete stage."

"Something falls into the silk chrysalis, and slowly gets wrapped up by the silk, turning into a cocoon, and little by little it's transformed into a mixture of solid and liquid."

"so?"

Looking at the puzzled faces of Qin Feng and Lian Gouyue, Wei Xi pointed at himself and said, "If we don't get out of there, we will be wrapped into a cocoon by something unknown."

"One more thing," Wei Xi pointed at the last silk cocoon she had opened, which was covered in rust-colored liquid. "This one is empty. Where did the things inside go?"
