Chapter 62 Argument
Lian Gouqie handed the note to Wei Xi, "Is there such a thing?"

"What's written on it?" Qin Feng felt dizzy when she saw the words on the note. She touched Lian Gou Ye with her arm, trying to get an answer.

"A river flowing across gold, what kind of allusion is this?" Wei Xi didn't understand what the things on the note meant, and was still counting on Qin Feng, the most knowledgeable of the three, to give an answer.

Qin Feng heard these four words, thought about it, and began to shake his head. "I haven't seen this word before, but I haven't read a book in several years, so I may not be able to say it accurately."

Wei Xi felt quite sorry when he thought of Qin Feng's cultivation.

Qin Feng, the most educated among the three, couldn't explain it clearly, and Wei Xi and Lian Gou Xie had no idea what this water-crossing gold was.

"Regardless of what this word means," Wei Xi proposed a new idea, "let's think about how this note got included in the task card."

Lian Gouyu placed the task card on the table. "When the county magistrate returned it to me, his expression remained unchanged. The workmanship wasn't very good; a piece of paper like this could be squeezed through it. When I took it, I felt a slight misalignment between the two bamboo boards. I guessed someone had tampered with it, but who knew there was something stuck in it?"

The county magistrate took the sign and returned it right under the eyes of the three people, and his movements were normal.

Only the county magistrate who was on the way back and forth and the county magistrate who had never shown up were suspected of tampering. Wei Xi put the note close to her eyes, and Lingyin came out from under her clothes.

The note was not big, and although it was obvious that the person who wrote it was in a hurry, the handwriting was much more beautiful than Wei Xi's neat handwriting.

Wei Xi touched the ink, feeling unsure. She handed the note to Lian Gouyu and asked, "Does this ink look fresh?"

Every profession has its own expertise. After hearing what Wei Xi said, Lian Gou took the note, looked at it, and then put it under his nose to steady it. He said firmly, "It definitely wasn't written today. It looks like it's been written like this for a while."

"So this note has been written for a long time, waiting for an opportunity to be stuffed into our things?" Qin Feng's face was full of confusion.

"Every day since I came to Qingcheng Sect, I've been asking why." Lian Gouqie said with a look of nostalgia, "At least we can solve the mystery right now."

Wei Xi rolled his eyes at Lian Gouyu and asked, "Do you think County Magistrate Cheng would do such a thing?"

"Him? This old man is obviously hiding something from us. Even if the magistrate is ill, he can't send us away at the door."

"Not only that, the county magistrate didn't want us to go to the Huanhe River dam from the beginning. It was only after we repeatedly asked to go to the dam that he came up with an excuse to offer sacrifices to the river." Lian Gouqie took over Qin Feng's words, his tone quick and urgent.

"Not only the county magistrate, the whole town doesn't want to see us." Wei Xi thought of something, she ran to the window, opened it and looked out, then she waved to Qin Feng and Lian Gouyue to come over.

"It's almost noon," Wei Xi pointed out the window, "there aren't many people outside."

"It's more like dead." Qin Feng lay on Wei Xi's shoulder.

"Sometimes I really don't know which of you two speaks more viciously," Lian Gouyue said, standing on tiptoe to peek outside. "But this time you both held your tongue. Where did all the people in this town die? Did they offer sacrifices to the river?"

Wei Xi closed the window, Lingyin flew over from the table, stepped on Lian Gou's head and jumped onto Wei Xi's head.

"If this note was given to us by the county magistrate, he must have had no good intentions," Lian Gouqie said.

"So it was given to us by the magistrate? But why did he give us this kind of note?" Qin Feng felt that she was only a little bit away from the truth, but she could not get to the bottom of it no matter how hard she tried.

"The magistrate didn't give the news to us, he gave it to outsiders," Wei Xi helped Lingyin open the hood on her head, and Lingyin couldn't wait to get in. "We are the ones coming from outside."

"That's just an idea, but if it's true, the county magistrate's situation might not be optimistic," Wei Xi glanced at Qin Feng and Lian Gouyue, who were both lost in thought, and added, "Our situation might not be optimistic either." "If we stay in the inn until the flood season is over and pretend we never received it," Lian Gouyue said, picking up the small note, "we can just wait to return to Qingcheng Sect with this desperate note."

Although Qin Feng didn't grasp the truth, she grasped a possibility, "We can't stay in the inn and wait for the flood season to pass!"

"Why? You waited for several years for Wei Xi and me to come into your life, just like the miracle that Agu said!" Lian Gou missed the days in Baoxiang City when he only had to consider who to steal from.

"First, this is our mission, to reinforce the levee. Second, there is something strange in Tangkou Town. The county magistrate is overstepping his authority, the county magistrate is nowhere to be seen, the streets are dead, and there is also this note. Third, who knows what that group of Hu people are going to do?" When Qin Feng said this, her sense of responsibility was about to overflow, and Wei Xi and Lian Gou Xie were both burned by her.

"Wei Xi, persuade Qin Feng, just like you do every day." Lian Gouqie hoped that Wei Xi could deal with Qin Feng. After all, Wei Xi showed her excellent quality of helping the right person rather than her relatives at the edge of the swamp.

"We need to find out what happened in this town," Wei Xi looked at the desperate Lian Gouyue, "not only for the mission, but also for the people in this town."

"When did you become like Qin Feng? It's not your style to care about the world. You're just as worried about the world being in chaos as I am!"

"For our own sake, we won't be any better than this," Wei Xi shook the paper in his hand. "I wonder if you, Ruhua, can escape from this strange town."

"We can walk out with a swagger," Lian Goujie shrugged, "after all, we are immortal masters."

"You can try." Wei Xi threw this sentence to Lian Gouyue. She took Lingyin off her head and stuffed it into her clothes despite its resistance.

"What are you going to do? Are you lying to me again?" Lian Gouqie looked at Wei Xi walking out in horror.

"I want to go outside and collect some information." Wei Xi replied. Seeing this, Qin Feng also wanted to go with her.

"Wait a minute!" Lian Gouqie weighed the pros and cons, "What do we want to find out?"

"I don't know what information would be useful, but there are two things we can focus on."

"Let me guess, the county magistrate also offers sacrifices to the river?"

"You are so smart!" Qin Feng said sarcastically, but Lian Gou Xie didn't take it seriously.

Walking down the street, I realized Qin Feng was right. This town was completely lifeless. There were few people on the street, and few shops were open.

"Doesn't this town produce gold sand?" Lian Gouqie whispered to Wei Xi. Wei Xi glanced at him and signaled him to act and not let himself be exposed.

At this time, Wei Xi's sensitive ears caught the sound of wheels coming from behind her. She pulled Qin Feng and Lian Gou'e's clothes, and the two understood and followed Wei Xi to hide in a dirty restaurant.

The restaurant was dimly lit. Wei Xi, covered in dust, stood in front of the restaurant, obscuring Qin Feng's porcelain-white figure. Lian Gou Xie tried to shrink himself as much as possible.

Sure enough, the group of Hu people that they left behind entered Tangkou Town with their trucks.
