Chapter 72 Doctor
There were few people on the streets of Tangkou Town, and Wei Xi and the other two talked as they walked.

"According to what you said, we shouldn't," Lian Gouqie lowered his voice, "go to the county government? I mean, all those weird things point to County Magistrate Cheng."

"You know you will be the main force of the night tour, right?" Qin Feng's voice was very hoarse due to the hangover.

"You're still drunk, and your opinions are not constructive at all."

"I've recognized it, you two just need to use your brains," Qin Feng rubbed his temples, "Last time I used my brains, we got hung up."

"Very impressive." Lian Gouqie commented.

Before coming out, Wei Xi made herself look disgraced in front of the two soldiers, but there was no guarantee that the county magistrate's men might be on the street, so she didn't open her mouth and only let Lingyin whisper what she wanted to say.

This scene was somewhat strange, but fortunately Qin Feng and Lian Gouyu were used to Wei Xi's external throat.

"Based on the clues we have right now," Wei Xi said, searching the streets for traces of the locust tree, "I think County Magistrate Cheng is the key to this matter."

"So what do you think," Lian Gouqie pursed his lips, "can we pry out of Doctor Li's mouth?"

Wei Xi was still looking for the locust tree at the entrance of the alley. When she asked this morning, the two soldiers rushed to tell her how to get to Locust Tree Alley - follow the main street to find the entrance to the alley with the locust tree.

Lian Gouyu switched the short knife in his hand from one hand to another. "It just feels like we are trapped in this broken town, being tossed around by these things. We are like flies flying around in the air."

"I'm several years younger than you, think about it yourself!"

"I thought you were a head shorter than me because you were too cunning." Lian Gouye touched the top of Wei Xi's head, and Lingyin pecked the palm of Lian Gouye's hand.

"You can wait until I'm twenty to say that," Wei Xi retorted bluntly. "I don't have a reasonable explanation right now. Since Huanhe, gold, and the Hu people are all related to County Magistrate Cheng, let's investigate him thoroughly."

"After all," Wei Xi pointed to the large locust tree in front, "before he became the county magistrate, he was an apprentice at Li Lang's medical clinic."

"Wait a minute," Qin Feng, who had been having a headache, interrupted Wei Xi. "That waiter said that the Huan River would protect the townspeople from getting sick. Lian Gou! What did that guy say yesterday?"

"Sick?" Lian Gouqie paused, "You mean, moving corpses?"

"When you went to get the wine, they were saying that they only helped County Magistrate Cheng move the bodies of those who died in the war, and they had no right to participate in other matters." Qin Feng shook her head and continued, "If Huanhe..."

"The Huan River didn't bless the townspeople," Qin Feng's eyes lit up, then turned suspicious. "Is County Magistrate Cheng behind this? Why is he..."

Qin Feng's head started to hurt again. "I shouldn't have drunk so much. My brain isn't working at all."

"You want to know why County Magistrate Cheng organized people to move the corpses, and you also want to ask why there is a rumor that Huanhe does not allow the townspeople to get sick?" Wei Xi completed Qin Feng's doubts, and Qin Feng nodded quickly.

"Perhaps," Wei Xi walked towards Huaishu Lane, "Doctor Li can tell us."

"Pay attention, you two have to find out which room Doctor Li lives in." Wei Xichong said to Lian Gouqie and Qin Feng.

Lian Gouqie and Qin Feng knocked on the door of the first house in a swaggering manner. The person who opened the door was a little girl with big eyes, who looked to be about seven or eight years old.

"Little sister, where are your parents?" Qin Feng asked subconsciously. Wei Xi, who was standing behind her, pulled at the hem of her clothes.

Lian Gouqie took on the heavy responsibility and asked, "Little sister, do you know what a fairy master is?"

The little girl shook her head and smiled. "That's easy. Do you know where to find Doctor Li?"

The little girl stared at Lian Goujie intently. "Why does she look familiar?" Lian Goujie murmured. Wei Xi kicked his shin. Lian Goujie pulled Wei Xi toward him. Wei Xi, who still hadn't lost the look of skepticism towards Lian Goujie, said, "Look, this girl can't talk. We need to find Doctor Li to treat her. Can you help her?"

After saying that, Lian Gouqie pushed Wei Xi forward, whose smile was uglier than crying.

The little girl pointed to a room across the street and locked the three people out as if they were driving away the plague.

"Next time," Qin Feng weakly pointed at Lian Gouyue, "you'll be the mute."

At least the little girl pointed to the right house, and Wei Xi knocked on the door.

The three heard the sound of something hitting the floor and subconsciously put their hands on their weapons.

Then the wooden door was violently opened, and a wrinkled face appeared. He was very old, as old as Wei Xi. His cloudy eyes looked up and down at Wei Xi, who was standing in the front, and asked, "There are still beggars in Tangkou Town?"

Lian Gouqie burst out laughing, and Wei Xi stepped hard on his foot.

"There's County Magistrate Cheng in Tangkou Town," Wei Xi said, unsurprised by the old man's sudden change of expression. "You're Doctor Li, right?"

"Tangkou Town has always had a county magistrate, but I haven't seen a beggar in years," Doctor Li waved his cane, "Get out! This is not what you want!"

Qin Feng wanted to pull out Gao Han, but Lian Gouqie stopped her hand, "Doctor, I advise you to tell us about County Magistrate Cheng while these two still have patience."

"I've lived a lifetime, it's not your turn to be bossed around by three little brats!"

"This doctor is quite stubborn," Lian Gou said, "Wei Xi, you go ahead."

"You opened the clinic in Tangkou Town," Wei Xi said calmly, "Do you want the clinic back?"

Doctor Li's raised cane stopped in mid-air, and after a moment he opened the door.

Wei Xi and the other two followed Doctor Li, who was staggering, and approached his house.

The room was dark and small. There was a basin of dirty dishes on the stove. Beyond the kitchen was the bedroom. Suzhou was also in northern Xinjiang, but there was only a bed in the inner room.

Doctor Li seemed to have opened up his mouth. "That little bastard, I took him in out of kindness, but he was kicked out by his beastly father. What an ungrateful bastard!"

Wei Xi and the other two exchanged glances. Doctor Li pointed at the table. Wei Xi looked at the chairs with missing legs and felt that it would be better for him to stand.

"Cheng Er, the Cheng County Magistrate you all know, was kicked out by Carpenter Zheng when he was twelve because he stole wood from his master's house. Seeing he had nowhere else to go, I brought him back to the clinic."

"This brat can't sit still, can't memorize medical textbooks, and even hangs out with hooligans. I want to discipline him, but he won't listen, no matter how I talk or how I spank him."

"I had other apprentices, so I gave him some money and sent him on his way. He came back within two days and told me he knew he was wrong, but he really wasn't cut out to study medicine, so he decided to stay in the clinic and do odd jobs."

Doctor Li spat fiercely, "The old man was so confused at the time! He didn't see his evil intentions at all!"
