Chapter 100: A Fool's Riddle

"Who is the... Festival Killer?"

He holds a cane, wears a round hat with a big question mark printed on it, green gloves, a green suit, slim trousers, and a black eye patch on his face. His whole body is a mystery - don't get me wrong, his whole body is a "mystery". His green suit is covered with densely packed question marks of different sizes.

St. Patrick's Day had passed, and his outfit had nothing to do with the holiday; he was wearing green because that was just his style.

The Riddler, Edward Nygma, is the most problematic person in Gotham City and may also be one of the most hated super villains. This is not to say that he is as evil and chaotic as the Joker, but mainly because he is too annoying.

A narcissist, a patient, a person who is hopelessly eager to show off his intelligence and clever puzzles. Most of the time, the only thing he wants to do is to show off his intelligence, which also leads to him leaving clues and puzzles at the crime scene every time.

A psychopath who commits crimes intentionally and leaves clues every time, a psychopath who always wants to prove that he is smarter than Batman. Many of the puzzles he leaves behind are to challenge Batman, but he is eventually captured and taken back to Arkham every time - but being able to compete with Batman in intelligence is enough to prove how smart he is.

Ma Zhaodi looked at the face of the Riddler on the left half of the system screen and subconsciously thought of the dialogue about him.

"If you don't leave clues to the puzzle, won't you get caught?"

"I don't want to go back to Arkham Asylum, but I can't help myself. I might need help. Maybe I'm crazy."

He even used words like "maybe" and "perhaps" - this guy is really not very clear-headed.

Ma Zhaodi subconsciously thought of some games he had played. The Riddler, BYD, placed his riddle trophies all over Gotham. There were hundreds of them densely packed together, hidden in various corners. If you want to catch him, you have to find all of these things, which is very time-consuming and troublesome.

This is also the reason why everyone shouted from the bottom of their hearts, "The Riddler, get out of Gotham."

However, the right half of the screen is also not easy to deal with.

“Who is the Festival Killer?”

A deep voice muttered to itself, a bat in his bat cave, facing the case file on the computer, he asked the same question as the Riddler.

The two voices intertwined and echoed. If Ma Zhaodi had not triggered the system's odd job this time, it would have been difficult to see the scene of two of the world's best and most intelligent brains colliding in such a tacit understanding.

Although one of them was in the office and the other in the bat cave, they seemed to have an unusual tacit understanding at this moment. Their guesses were intertwined. Even though they were in different spaces, they seemed to be in the same room, playing a reasoning game together.

April Fool's Day game of wisdom

Mission Introduction: April Fool's Day - On this day when everyone tells lies, some people want to seek the truth. Isn't this a very strange thing?

Status: In progress (0/3)

Reward: Each time you use reasoning to confirm/falsify an inference object, each time you complete a reasoning, you will gain a level of "Acting Mastery". After completing three reasonings, you will gain an advanced "Acting Mastery".

Ma Zhaodi was sitting in his own home. He certainly didn't have the courage to monitor either the Godfather or Batman. Fortunately, the system was user-friendly enough to display images of both at the same time, without requiring him to install the surveillance device himself.

On the other side of the screen, the Riddler stared at the table in front of him, still making his own reasoning.

"It is a mystery—broken into the scattered pieces of a tangram puzzle—wrapped in a puzzle—hidden in a Chinese box."

On the right side of the screen, Batman and the Riddler were performing the same movements. He was also staring at the table in front of him, which was also filled with festive items.

"Clues were left at the murder scenes. These items could easily be obtained from any thrift store or made by anyone—they were chosen to represent the date of each killing."

"Halloween."

St. Patrick's Day

"They're all holidays, just like today—April Fools' Day."

Ma Zhaodi grabbed a handful of popcorn and stuffed it into his mouth: "That's right."

The Riddler studied the .22 pistol in his hand, ignoring the two oppressive figures beside him.

He raised the corner of his mouth: "A riddle."

Batman was using a machine to test an identical pistol, and an old man in a tuxedo was standing behind him fiddling with a .22.

He deadpanned, "A killer."

Ma Zhaodi grabbed another handful of popcorn and stuffed it into his mouth: "That's right."

"Ask a question." The Riddler reached his favorite part: "Why do festival killers always use the same weapon?"

"Answer: He bought it wholesale."

Ma Zhaodi grabbed another handful of popcorn and stuffed it into his mouth. "No, no, the person who wholesaled this stuff must have been thoroughly investigated by Batman a long time ago."

"Or, let's be more practical—these .22s are light, easy to carry, and perfect for a—a lady."

"A catwoman."

"During the break-in last June, she had opened Mr. Falcone's safe. So, she had the list and the ledgers with the names of everyone in the Roman Empire. Add to that the million-dollar bounty Mr. Falcone had placed on her head. Suddenly, her best defense..."

“It became an active offense.”

"No, no." Ma Zhaodi shook his head. "Catwoman is a thief, not a killer. In the second case, the Irish gang member who died didn't even belong to the Falconer family. Killing such a person is meaningless. On Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day, the dead were all members of the Maroni family. The target was directly targeting Maroni - the motive was wrong, not Catwoman."

[Task Status: In Progress (1/3)]

The mission progress increased by one, and Ma Zhaodi continued to look at the screen. At this time, another name popped out of Batman's mouth.

"Maroni."

"From the outset, these killings were all done to benefit Sal Maroni, the Romans' main antagonist in their attempt to control Gotham City."

"He weakened the Falcone family and became more daring with each murder."

"Who else would shoot Falcone's own son in the back on New Year's Eve?"
