Chapter 167 The Second Old Acquaintance Returns

Carmine Falcone, the biggest underworld emperor in Gotham City, is a man who can make clouds and rain with a wave of his hand - although his empire has begun to shrink a lot, it does not mean that he is now a soft persimmon to be messed with.

A year ago, the Bat began to appear in Gotham's nights, fighting all crime; and Gotham's most powerful controller, Wayne Enterprise, began to attack him through business and legal means. This forced him to stop many profitable projects, but it was obviously because the enemy was too powerful, not because of any problem with Carmine's ability.

Whenever he thought of the bat and the black sheep of the Wayne family, Falcone couldn't help but feel angry. The former was a nightmare he couldn't solve, but the latter—he had tried countless times to make peace with this Gotham playboy, but they were strangers and their families had never had any contact, so he had been turned down countless times. In the end, he simply gave up the idea of befriending Wayne.

This playboy is so incompetent that he seems to be unyielding.

Fortunately, Gotham had been enjoying rare good weather these past few days, with clear skies and bright sunshine. Carmine came to his suburban mansion to rest, enjoying a long-lost sunbath and relieving his depressed mood over the past year.

Even when he was on vacation, his white hair was still combed meticulously, and he wore an expensive white suit and a black shirt. As well as the temperament he had developed over many years in a high position in the gang, this gangster boss still looked majestic and calm when he was on vacation.

However, this calmness turned into panic the next moment.

Carmine answered a sudden call from an unfamiliar number. The voice on the other end of the phone was strange and sharp, just like the voice of the evil villain in the cartoons he watched as a child.

"Carmine, I'm the Joker, and I need you to help me kill the Riddler."

Hearing the voice coming from the phone, the man by the swimming pool looked extremely angry.

"What? How did you know this number?!"

This phone is something he never leaves behind. Even though it has not been called for more than ten years, he is always waiting for someone to dial this number.

This number is his private number, extremely secretive, known only to a few people, and he will not reveal it to anyone else.

The only people who knew this number were his mother and his brothers.

A bodyguard standing nearby, short and stocky in a trench coat, resembling a fat penguin, immediately realized something was amiss. He held a black umbrella in his hand and looked at Falcone with a serious expression. Others might not have realized the severity of the situation, but he was smart, and since he was very close to Falcone, he was the first to realize something was amiss.

His name is Cobblepot, Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, of course, his other name is not known now and will not be known throughout Gotham City until the future.

That name is Penguin Man.

He saw Falcone holding a cell phone and asking questions sternly, his sharp blue eyes widened. This eye color was inherited from his mother, and he had boasted to himself countless times, but now it revealed a fierce and cruel light.

However, the person on the other end of the phone seemed to be in a bad mood. He didn't want to say much and just said briefly: "You have an hour, thank you."

"I'm going to hang you! Do you hear me? No matter who you are, I can just flick my fingers through my hands and your life will be easily in my hands, and I'll crush you like an ant!"

However, there was only a busy tone on the other end of the phone.

The Joker had already hung up the phone. Carmine didn't even react at first. As the overlord of Gotham City, no one had ever dared to hang up on him in all the years he had been calling the shots in Gotham.

He stared at the phone for a moment, then realized what had happened, but during the short time he was on the phone, his anger was quickly suppressed by his reason, which made him even more dangerous.

He immediately turned around and shouted at the black-clad bodyguards around him, "What are you doing there? Standing there? Doing nothing?!"

"Find that damn Riddler! Kill him! You have an hour!"

The people around immediately ran away like frightened birds.

Poison Ivy and the Riddler are strolling in Gotham City's botanical gardens.

Ever since he carved a huge question mark on his chest in the hospital, the Riddler seemed to have become very accustomed to wearing suits with the chest open. Of course, he also opened his collar when he was released from prison, but not as thoroughly as he does now.

Ma Zhaodi's first thought at the time was that if it weren't for his abdominal muscles, wearing this would only make him look crude rather than wild.

At this time, the question mark had healed for the most part, but there were still tiny beads of blood oozing out of it. However, the Riddler didn't care. He talked calmly with Poison Ivy.

"What bothers me is the fact, not the possibility, about the possibility of 'scorched earth.'"

At this point, his expression revealed a hint of worry: "Because he once promised to set the world ablaze and turn it into a scorched earth."

Poison Ivy walked aside. She was wearing a brown coat with a white sweater underneath, dark green jeans, gloves and a triangular scarf, which were her favorite colors. Her long bright red hair fluttered in the wind like a burning flame.

She didn't comment on the Riddler's words, nor did she show any special expression.

The Riddler continued, "I know, I know. It's just a promise. Can he really do it? But what else can we judge him by besides this promise? What he has done so far? Of course. But all his actions can only show one thing, that he is always true to his words."

"Joker, keep your word."

Hearing this, Poison Ivy's expression finally changed. She raised her eyebrows slightly, her emerald green eyes turned, and looked at the Riddler beside her. Then the corners of her mouth raised a little, as if she saw through the Riddler's purpose.

The Riddler looked at Poison Ivy's scrutinizing gaze and said calmly, "Of course, I'm not perfect in every sense of the word, but I have a plan."

When he said this, there was a sudden sound of dense footsteps behind them. So, the two people whose conversation was interrupted turned their heads and saw a group of guys in black clothes and black pants rushing into the botanical garden and chasing after them.

"Oh." The Riddler looked surprised and then spoke first.

"Uh, hello guys—who are you looking for? What can I do for you?"
