Chapter 214 Monsters Fighting Each Other
Chapter 214 Monsters Fighting Each Other
Upon discovering that Reggie and the blond man at the back of the group had both disappeared, the gunman leading the group's expression immediately changed.
"Something's wrong! Everyone on alert!"
Just as the team leader issued a warning, Reggie emerged from the alley, belt fastened around his waist.
"Hmm? What's going on? Who are we on guard against?"
"Could you have given me advance notice if you were leaving the team?"
"I'm just taking a quick break, don't be so nervous, bro."
Where is the dog?
"I don't know, maybe it was afraid of being killed by Solomon, so it ran away on its own."
Reggie smiled and explained a couple of things before walking back into the group.
On the other side of the Upper West Side, next to a magnificent theater, there was also a large patrol of people wearing hats. There were very few gang members among them; almost all of them were ordinary civilians dressed in casual clothes.
"Everyone be careful." One of the gunmen glanced at the street in the night and reminded the other gunmen who were playing cards next to him, "At least drink less. Teach (the Mad Hatter) just said that there will be an attack tonight."
"What are you afraid of?" A gunman with a cigarette in his mouth threw down two cards and sneered, "You can see that there are at least several hundred people patrolling around here. These guys are like robots after they put on their hats. They don't feel hungry, they don't feel cold, they don't feel tired, and they don't even utter a single word. They can't do anything except patrol."
“When you mention this, I feel like that guy is really weird.” Another gunman took a swig of beer and complained, “Damn it, he’s always getting people to perform Alice in Wonderland for him in theaters, singing scary nursery rhymes all day long. He’s a complete lunatic, a clown-like madman.”
“If it were just performing fairy tales, that would be fine.” The third gunman shook his head: “None of the people that bastard captured to act with him have made it out of the theater alive. If it weren’t for the fact that he’s always out doing clown jobs, we’d be cleaning up the bloodstains in the theater every day.”
“Jackson was shot dead on stage by him yesterday. This guy even kills his own people. I really want to shoot him in the head.”
"Be careful what you say. The Joker and the Mad Hatter are both madmen. If they hear this kind of talk, the brothers will be responsible for sinking your body into Gotham Harbor."
"F**k you, I'll at least outlive you."
"Besides, who knows if someone will actually attack tonight—those lunatics get their intelligence from who-knows-where. We don't need to be so timid. We should just do what we need to do today and go to sleep when it's time. These hundreds of controlled things are much stronger than us in combat."
"According to Teach, there was a mole planted among the Riddler's soldiers. That guy's hat is really weird, so the intelligence might be true."
“Okay, okay.” One of the gunmen put down his cards and beer can. “If a fight really breaks out later, we can’t get too drunk. We need to find a safe place to hide so we don’t get hit by stray bullets.”
That makes some sense.
Boom——
As the group was talking, a huge explosion suddenly came from the distant streets. They turned around in surprise and could only see flames shooting into the sky and a column of gray-black smoke.
"Holy crap, what's going on?!"
"Looks like Tych's intelligence wasn't very accurate." "Whose area is that?"
“That big oaf, Solomon Grandi.”
"That's going to be good!"
"Aren't you going to help?"
"That monster fights like the Hulk, do you dare go?"
"Forget it."
Solomon Grandi! Born on a Monday!
An angry roar erupted from the factory. The burly man, pale blue and ragged, covered in charred burns, with a few embers still burning on his skin, plunged his hands into a massive, humanoid mud figure. He wanted to tear this enemy, who had suddenly attacked the factory, to pieces, but he was entangled in the sticky mud.
His arm muscles bulged suddenly, and terrifying power erupted from his hands, tearing open Mudface's chest bit by bit. He struggled with all his might to maintain his restraint on Solomon, but it was clear that he was about to give up.
"This zombie was clearly hit by an explosion, how come it's still so powerful!"
Two enormous mud legs emerged from the mud mass, and Mudface leaped with all its might, carrying Solomon directly into the air. Solomon instinctively tried to grab the steel beams in the factory, but his hands were still bound and he was forcibly dragged along by Mudface, crashing through the factory roof and soaring into the night sky.
Undoubtedly, Mudface's super strength may be inferior to Solomon's, but it is definitely beyond human capabilities. With a leap, Mudface carried the two of them into the air before they fell back to the factory grounds.
Solomon Grandi! Born on a Monday!
The mud ball deformed in mid-air and enveloped Solomon, adjusting his posture. The pale blue zombie headfirst slammed into the hard concrete ground. Despite his desperate struggles, the sticky mud ball almost turned him into an insect in amber, hindering every movement of his body.
Boom!
The two men touched the ground within seconds, the mud clumps scattering and shattering into a thin, runny mess just before impact. Solomon's massive, heavy body crashed through the ground, the terrifying tremors and deafening roar causing the entire factory area to shake violently.
Even more deadly was that, outside the factory, a large number of citizens controlled by the Mad Hatter were now marching towards the factory with guns in hand, while the rational gang members all hesitated to move forward, because they knew very well that ordinary flesh and blood could not participate in the battle between two behemoths.
Even being hit by a stray rock during a battle, or having one's internal organs ruptured by the shockwave, is enough to kill someone instantly, not to mention the possibility of being casually thrown out by one of the opposing sides.
Now, even if Kite Man and Batman arrived together, they wouldn't be able to stop everyone outside the factory—there were just too many people being controlled by the Mad Hatter.
At that moment, Solomon was climbing out of the pit in the factory. The impact of their fall had slammed his head against the ground, tearing it open, but he seemed oblivious to it. The gruesome wound revealed a white skull, dark red muscle, and parts of brain tissue, but no blood flowed—or perhaps, as a zombie, Solomon simply didn't have any blood in his body?
Opposite Solomon, the scattered mud reassembled and became a mud giant, who marveled at Solomon's thick skin and tough flesh.
"This guy is a monster."
