Chapter 393 You think you can leave work now?
"No matter who that guy is, I'm sure of two things."
Inside the safe house, Snart looked at Gibran on the sofa and noticed that his chest was completely unharmed. His expression immediately turned serious.
"First, this guy is far more terrifying than the Flash. He's more capable, has no bottom line, and kills people."
"Secondly, I dislike him very much, extremely much."
"Are you going to deal with him?" Upon hearing Snart's words, Mick's face broke into a sinister smile. He seemed completely unafraid of the terrifying yellow-clad speedster from before, and even appeared somewhat eager to try. "You've got guts, I like that. Tell me what to do."
Snart glanced at Mick. He knew the other man was obsessed with fire and that he had a fiery temper. The reason this combination of ice and fire could work together was mainly because Mick was indeed a useful person.
“We’ll have to deal with him sooner or later,” Snart thought for a moment. “But not now. Right now, we need to prepare to defeat the Flash.”
"Wasn't that guy already too tired to run?"
"I don't believe he would lose his abilities so easily. If there is anyone in the world who can be considered my nemesis, it can only be him."
"You really have a lot of faith in him."
"Either he defeats me, or I defeat him. Once the oil painting issue is resolved, we'll be able to determine the winner. Then, we'll join forces to deal with that guy in yellow."
"Fight first, then cooperate? What's wrong with you?"
“You wouldn’t understand—anyway, since that guy killed someone, he’ll definitely become the Flash’s opponent. I’m 90% sure I can persuade him to team up with me.”
"What if you can't win the day after tomorrow?"
Snart glanced at Mick.
“I will win sooner or later—if I don’t win the day after tomorrow, I’ll wait for him to come and help me deal with that man in yellow; so now, let’s take care of this guy’s affairs and go find Roy as planned tomorrow.”
"If you ask me, we should just take him to the beach and sink him."
“He’s already dead, Mick. Show some respect for the dead. That’s a principle my grandfather taught me.”
"Okay, okay, anyway, once the news of his death gets out, you'll have to go through the trouble of explaining to the Flash that you didn't kill him—it's a completely thankless task."
“I don’t need to explain. I’ve said I don’t kill people, so of course he’ll believe me.”
"I really think the hostile relationship between the two of you is a bit abnormal."
While the two were talking, Ma Zhaodi quietly slipped out of the safe house.
"Luckily I acted quickly enough, otherwise Gibran would have really sent it."
He quickly disappeared into the alley and rode his three-wheeled motorcycle home.
Meanwhile, in the Star Labs, Cisco, Caitlin, and Barry had finished their last test.
“The test data has been recorded.” Cisco patted Barry on the shoulder: “Your cellular structure hasn’t changed, only the Speed Force is temporarily gone, but I think there might still be hope for its recovery.”
“Thank you, Cisco.” Barry was silent for a while, then said, “I feel incomplete without my speed, or rather, I feel like I’ve lived my whole life incompletely.”
“Don’t say that, Barry.” Caitlin patted him on the shoulder. “You’re a really, really good person.”
Drop drop-
Just then, a message popped up on Caitlin's computer. She quickly turned her head and clicked on it, only to find it was from Wells. "What's wrong?" Cisco asked.
"The doctor asked me to study Gibran's cellular tissue tomorrow, saying that the study of him might be applicable to Barry."
“Oh, did you hear that, Barry?” Cisco reassured him. “We’ll definitely help you regain your speed.”
"Thank you." Barry sighed, forcing a smile. "It's getting late, let's head back—are you taking a taxi? Do you need me to give you a ride?"
“Oh, no need,” Caitlin replied. “I’m driving back, and so is Cisco. I think he should give you a ride today.”
Upon hearing this, Barry's smile vanished. He used to rely on the Speed Force to run home whenever he wanted, but now that he's lost it, he has to consider his safety at night.
The three walked to a public parking lot next to the laboratory and chatted casually. Barry couldn't help but sigh, "I never thought I would encounter so many things in one day. Just those two super-powered criminals have already exhausted me, and now even Snart has gotten involved."
"Yes, but on the bright side, at least today is finally over, and I can go home and get some rest—"
Caitlin's voice abruptly stopped halfway through her sentence.
"What's wrong, Caitlin?"
Barry and Cisco looked at Caitlin, who had suddenly fallen silent, and found her staring incredulously at a corner of the parking lot, her face a complex mix of confusion, bewilderment, and excitement.
The two instinctively followed her gaze, only to see a man's back disappear into the traffic.
"Caitlyn, are you alright?"
Barry pressed for more information, only to find Cisco also staring blankly in that direction. He couldn't help but pat the two of them on the shoulder: "What's wrong with you two? Is there something strange about that person?"
"Stop asking questions, hurry up and keep up!"
Cisco grabbed Barry and started running, and Caitlin followed suit. The three of them circled around a row of cars and saw the back of a man in a jacket and jeans.
His hair was long and quite messy, as if it hadn't been washed in a while. His clothes were wrinkled and had many dirty marks. He looked rather unclean, just like the kind of homeless person you often see on the street.
"Is there anything special about this person?"
Barry had no recollection of the guy in front of him, but Caitlin and Cisco were chasing him quickly, and this guy seemed to be running just as fast, not wanting to be caught. Something did seem off, so he joined the chase.
"Ronnie!"
When Caitlin finally called out a name, the fleeing homeless man froze abruptly. He hesitated for a few seconds before the three men caught up with him.
Seeing that there was nowhere to escape, he could only turn around and look at the three of them.
When he turned around, Barry finally remembered the meaning of "Ronnie".
"That's... Caitlin's fiancé?!"
Ronald Raymond, a name rarely mentioned in the lab, was a source of sadness for Caitlin.
But recently, the family-like life in the lab has gradually shown signs of her emerging from grief. Barry has also learned about the man, who is the chief engineer of Star Labs and is engaged to Caitlin.
But on the night the particle accelerator malfunctioned, in order to manually shut down the accelerator and prevent an explosion, he went into the accelerator pipes himself and was turned to ashes by the flames.
He's not dead?
