Chapter 435 Higher Dimensional Creatures (Seeking votes at the end of the month)
Who is Black Lightning?
The Barry from the other universe looked at the Barry from this universe with a puzzled expression: "I've never heard of this name in my universe. Is he your enemy? Some kind of superpowered villain?"
No, no, that's not it.
Barry from this universe explained, “Don’t you have Black Lightning in your universe? It’s not a person, and in a sense, I don’t even think it has life.”
"It is a grim reaper exclusive to speedsters, moving through the Speed Force and being able to use the Speed Force itself. I still don't know exactly what it is. All I know is that if a speedster is caught by it, they will die instantly—it looks a bit like a zombie in a movie, but without the sluggishness of those in movies; its speed is ridiculously fast."
"Oh, you mean the Time Wraiths!"
The alien Barry immediately understood what the original Barry meant: "Does this universe call them Black Lightning? That name doesn't feel as good as 'Time Undead' being called 'Magic Master'."
Ma Zhaodi began to have doubts. Based on his understanding of this universe, the setting of this universe should belong to a relatively early comic book period, and the original setting of Black Lightning should only appear when the speedster is on the verge of death, and it is not responsible for maintaining the stability of the timeline.
Why did the Black Lightning concept from the comic book universe merge with the Time-Breaking concept from the movie's alternate universe? Could it be because of me?
"The name isn't the point. The point is, recklessly disrupting the timeline might bring it upon itself." Barry's voice from this universe pulled the two from their thoughts: "Are you sure this method is safe enough?"
“Without me, it’s uncertain,” Ma Zhaodi said. “Although this kind of deception is very technical and theoretically shouldn’t have any impact on the timeline, no one knows the specifics of the time undead, so it’s safest for me to handle it.”
"You? How can you guarantee that Black Lightning won't notice?"
“I’m a special case, I’m not affected by changes in the timeline,” Ma Zhaodi replied. “Besides, I’m not a speedster, so Black Lightning can’t control me.”
The two bar people looked at each other in bewilderment.
"A person unaffected by changes in the timeline?" Barry of this universe clicked his tongue in amazement. "This is the first time I've seen something like this. I mean, I've never seen anyone who can resist the power of time and fate. Not even the speedsters themselves."
“I didn’t resist,” Ma Zhaodi thought to himself. “I just had a different perspective—at least that’s how the system says it.”
Please note that as an 'reader' from outside this world, your timeline is parallel to this world, but not completely overlapping.
Please note that the world you arrive in will follow the timeline of the 'Reader'. Some delayed additions to the world's setting will not be retrospective but will only take effect later. Therefore, multiple versions of the same world will exist simultaneously in the 'Reader' timeline, namely, "worlds that do not yet have subsequent additions" and "worlds that have subsequent additions," etc.
Please note that any changes to the timeline of any world will not affect your actions, because you are not on any world's timeline.
These notifications suddenly appeared when Ma Zhaodi returned from the other universe, probably because he was taken on a time-space journey by the speedster, which triggered the system's relevant reminders.
This was the second time the system had explained his built-in timeline to him in more detail. The thought that his transmigrated identity also came with a timeline independent of the rest of DC felt like the pleasant surprise of finding a ten-dollar coin in the pocket of old clothes. He roughly understood the meaning of this "reader's" perspective timeline—as everyone knows, the creation time of the entire DC universe is breathtakingly long, with hundreds of editors' settings sometimes contradicting each other and sometimes in complete chaos; to facilitate their own creations, each person would add subsequent settings to the universe, thereby maintaining the precarious and fragile logical coherence of the entire DC universe.
In other words, the DC Universe, which is composed of numerous universes, is like a patched-up version of the Shishan Code.
In the patched-up DC universe, Gotham is a prime example. From the reader's perspective, Gotham City was initially just a corrupt city teeming with gangsters, and Batman, as a detective, was trying to make it better.
And then what? Then more stories were created, and Batman's shining moments increased. He was incredibly intelligent and brave, cunning and resourceful, able to deal with terrorists, supervillains, and aliens, able to resolve apocalyptic crises, and even take on Superman one-on-one.
But he still couldn't solve Gotham City's gang problem.
Is this reasonable?
This was obviously unreasonable, so all sorts of patches were put on, and Gotham became an evil city in every sense of the word, with terrifying evil gods, a clown who can infect and resurrect, super criminals with increasingly superhuman abilities, all sorts of curses, and sorcerers or demons began to be buried underground, including an ancient evil organization with terrifying power that spanned the globe, plus the malice of fate.
Okay, this makes Gotham City much more normal; it has plenty of reasons why Batman can't deal with it.
For the DC Universe, the moment this patch is created, it is equivalent to completely changing its background structure. If its setting is "Gotham has actually had a secret organization since Bruce was born", then everyone in the universe will think that this secret organization has existed for a long time, and they will no longer be able to find the timeline without the mysterious organization before the patch was applied.
However, from the reader's perspective, these are patches that were not originally there but were later inserted into the early plot. The time point when they appeared is not "when Bruce was born", but "when this setting was drawn into the comic". Thus, two sides of the same world appear in the reader's timeline.
On one side is a world where "Bruce was born, but there is no setting of a mysterious organization"; on the other side is a world where "Bruce was born, and the patch has already been applied".
Being able to see something means being able to touch it. A world that people within the DC universe cannot reach is readily apparent to readers outside the universe.
Therefore, from this perspective, Ma Zhaodi is actually a kind of "high-dimensional being".
Although this guy doesn't really look like it—after all, compared to the high-dimensional beings people imagine, his personal strength is not to say that he is inferior, but at least he can be considered as insignificant as an ant.
Ma Zhaodi stopped thinking about it and brought his thoughts back to the scene. At this point in the conversation, the two Barries had obviously reached a consensus.
“You and Henry take her back to Central City. Once she’s a little more used to the world, I’ll explain it to her in person. That way, the impact will be less.”
"no problem."
