This is what an immortal should be like
Chapter 291 Fate Has Been in Disarray
Chapter 291 Fate Has Been in Disarray
In Zhongshan City, behind the Zhu Family Restaurant, there is a luxurious mansion with a towering pavilion. An old woman sits on the balcony of the pavilion, gazing at the distant Taihang Mountains.
Beside the old woman, another old man was gazing in the same direction.
"Immortal Master, I am but a mortal and cannot see clearly. Has the fate of Mount Taihang changed?"
The old woman was naturally Kuang Wenlan, disguised as the Zhu family matriarch, while the old man beside her was an elder of the Yanzhen Sect. He looked at the Taihang Mountains and shook his head.
"There is a hidden energy formation in the Taihang Mountains that cannot be seen with ordinary eyes. Compared to the Taihang Mountains, the energy of this human kingdom separated by mountains is surging more violently."
As they spoke, the elder of Yanzhen Sect carefully examined the old woman again, and couldn't help but ponder once more.
These people were initially just physically fit, but they were clearly not cultivators. However, their bodies were able to absorb spiritual energy better than ordinary mortals, or rather, their bodies had a natural thirst for spiritual energy.
As time went on, the condition of these people changed, and some of them even showed faint signs of spiritual awakening.
This was quite astonishing to the elder of the Yanzhen Sect. You see, even though some mortals may enter the Dao with the help of immortal cultivators, their innate talent is mostly determined at birth, and their original essence will gradually be depleted as they grow older.
But these people are doing well. As time goes by, even without any external help, just by practicing martial arts, they are all undergoing positive changes.
Moreover, what surprised the elders of Yanzhen Sect even more than their physical aptitude was their abilities.
When they first arrived, the elders of Yanzhen Sect thought that these people were in a similar situation to the secular great families, with everyone except Zhu Shengcai and others being servants.
However, the longer time went on, the more the elders of Yanzhen Sect realized that even the lowest-ranking employees were actually quite remarkable, and each of them could be considered a talent.
This talent is no exaggeration; even in the eyes of an accomplished immortal cultivator like the elder, he is considered a talent, surpassing the vast majority of people in the mortal world.
More than just being able to work and get things done!
At first, the elder was astonished that even a young apprentice could read and write, thinking to himself that the great clans of the world should not be underestimated, for they indeed had profound foundations.
However, it was later discovered that, apart from some local forces and peripheral personnel with related interests, almost everyone in the Zhu family's original team, as well as some of the people who arrived later, was a great talent.
He is knowledgeable in astronomy, geography, history, and mathematics; he understands changes in circumstances, military and political affairs, and human relationships; he is decisive in his actions; and he is also physically capable, able to be both scholarly and martial, flexible and adaptable.
This isn't just one person, it's a group!
All I can say is that he is indeed worthy of being noticed by Senior Zhuang and having people work for him!
After understanding these things, the elders of Yanzhen Sect, who already regarded Zhuang Lin's requirements as the ultimate standard, dared not underestimate these people.
It wasn't just this elder; in fact, the Yanzhen Sect and several other recognized sects of the Zhenyi Sect all went through a similar process of understanding when it came to similar assistance missions.
From initially being merely a solemn obedience to the orders of the sages of cultivation, he gradually developed a genuine, heartfelt respect for those special mortals.
The feeling is that you work with many outstanding people who can coordinate and cooperate. Sometimes even a cultivator might not understand what they are doing, not to mention the strange mechanical creations that appear later.
The thoughts of the Yanzhen Sect elder flashed through his mind, but Kuang Wenlan, who heard him speak, smiled.
"It seems I am indeed too old for cultivation. However, the current chaos in the fate of the Yan Kingdom is just the right time!"
Kuang Wenlan was just saying it casually; she really couldn't see any sign of good fortune.
"Yes, that's just right!"
Just as the two were talking, the Yan state, where Murong Chui was located, had already assembled a large army and approached the core of the Yan state's power, where Murong Yong was located.
Under the subtle influence and operation of the Zhu family, integrating and unifying the Great Yan and then vying for the world became Murong Chui's national policy. After several ups and downs, the balance of power has long been broken, and Zhongshan City has completely overwhelmed Murong Yong.
This is both a struggle for legitimacy and a war of annihilation!
Meanwhile, far away in the Zhuozhang River area, the armies of the two Yan states had already clashed.
"Kill--"
The battle cries of countless soldiers shook the heavens and the earth, accompanied by the wails of countless dead and the bloodshed.
The boundless malevolent energy also stirred up the nation's fortunes, forming a terrifying wave that swept across all directions.
The fate of the Taihang Mountains is already in chaos, and the timing is just right!
-
In a certain place in the Taihang Mountains, at the site of a dilapidated temple, a faint ray of Buddhist light emanated from the statues inside the temple, then slowly illuminated the sky, turning a small patch of clouds into color.
A figure appeared in the sky amidst a beam of Buddhist light, looking towards the direction where the two armies were fighting. The closer it looked, the more intense the disorder in the energy flow became.
"Today's slaughter is only for tomorrow's peace. There is cause and effect. Well done!"
Emperor Murong Chui of the Great Yan Dynasty admired Buddhism. If he could unify the world, it would be a good thing. He could then use Buddhism to dispel the violence in the world and enjoy the bliss of ultimate happiness!
As the thought arose, the Buddha's light was thrown downwards, casting a shadow from the sky. By the time it reached the ground, it had transformed into a giant pagoda, which then, with a loud "boom," completely enveloped the entire dilapidated temple.
If Zhuang Lin were here, he would find that this pagoda looks similar to the one at Foguang Temple at first glance, but upon closer inspection, he would find that they are different.
The exquisite pagoda originally acquired from Foguang Temple was like a true ancient pagoda that had weathered the storms of time, except that something was missing from its spire, which had been used as a suppressor to subdue the original evil Buddha, Maha. The pagoda that had fallen from the Taihang Mountains now, however, had a faint, radiant light at its top, beneath which lay a body of pale gold, appearing almost unreal yet dazzlingly brilliant, with faint Buddhist chants emanating from it.
The pagoda covered the dilapidated temple in the Taihang Mountains, and then the entire pagoda gradually disappeared, leaving only a glimmer of light at the top. Then a small cloud drifted in, covered that glimmer of light, and all traces disappeared.
"Good!"
The Buddha's shadow in the sky made that sound again, and only then did it feel at ease before transforming into a rainbow of light and disappearing into the distance.
Guarding the Five-Colored Divine Mountain is no easy task; one cannot leave it for years, which will hinder one's cultivation.
Adhering to the principle of not wasting incense offerings, the various incarnations gather the power of incense offerings and purify them while refining and removing impurities. This is the time when the World-Honored One holds the Ullambana Festival. At this time, the Shramana Heavenly King can leave and go to various parts of the world to gather incense offerings.
But time is of the essence, so we must seize the opportunity, otherwise we'll have to wait for the next one.
After the incident involving Maha Jiedi, the remaining four Jiedi who were guarding the secret realm were summoned back by the World Honored One. Only those demon kings of the same origin could truly withstand the terrifying demon saint's evil aura.
The Five Directions Protectors were liberated, leaving only the Shramana Heavenly King to remain guarding the place, as it was impossible to truly trust those demon kings.
This left the Heavenly King Shamen very frustrated, but he couldn't say anything.
The last time he left for a short while to collect the incense and prayers gathered by his incarnations, he almost got into trouble, which shows that those demon kings are unruly and not worth trusting. So this time, Shamen Tianwang simply left behind his most treasured possessions. If there is any unusual activity, he will know even during the Ullambana Festival, so that there will be no mistakes!
The moment the golden pagoda fell, the two Bodhisattvas, Tianyin and Moke, who were talking in front of the pagoda in Foguang Temple, almost simultaneously looked at the exquisite pagoda beside them.
Suddenly, the ancient pagoda flashed with a few rays of light, and dust seemed to fall from its surface, causing it to tremble slightly.
The two bodhisattvas seemed to have a sudden thought, and a smile appeared on their faces.
"It seems that the Heavenly King Shamen is impatient. This tower is quite remarkable, as it can still sense things even in this state."
Monk Moke didn't quite understand the second half of the sentence, but seeing the Bodhisattva looking at him, he echoed it.
"Without this divine artifact, it would be difficult to suppress the evils of this humble monk. When I meet the Heavenly King in the future, I will naturally express my gratitude!"
"Excellent! The Ullambana Festival is approaching, and you will soon be able to see him."
The Second Bodhisattva nodded and said this, then looked at the Foguang Temple and thought to himself that it was a pity.
Originally, Foguang Temple in Xiangyang should have been one of the most popular temples, and the amount of incense and prayers offered here should have been very generous. However, it turned out that the sinful ones who went there benefited from it instead. It was truly a case of coming with high hopes but leaving disappointed!
-
Outside the Fairy Fox Cave on Little Sacred Mountain, Xi Miao stood looking towards Xiangyang. About half a day later, she indeed saw a ray of Buddhist light coming from afar.
Because of this Buddha's light, a rainbow formed on the horizon of Little Holy Mountain.
Xi Miao pressed her hand to her chest, took a deep breath, and then her expression suddenly became playful as she looked up at the sky and laughed.
"Bodhisattva~ You've only arrived today, it seems my illusion magic has won a victory. You must have visited the Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas, right?"
The two Bodhisattvas in the sky looked down at Little Sacred Mountain and saw Xi Miao's smug expression. They couldn't help but chuckle. Just as they had thought, although Xi Miao had outstanding talent in cultivation, she was still lacking in temperament.
"Your magic is truly remarkable, Fairy Fox Lady. Well, I must thank you for your help; otherwise, Mokha Jiedi would have suffered a great loss."
As they spoke, a beam of Buddha's light descended, illuminating the entire Little Sacred Mountain. This caused all the animals and spirits with some spirituality to emerge from the mountain, and many of them bowed repeatedly toward the Buddha's light.
When the Second Heavenly Sound Bodhisattva approached the ground and truly saw Xi Miao clearly, he was immediately startled.
"Huh? Fairy Fox Lady, you actually..."
"Hahahaha, the Bodhisattva's eyes are truly discerning! You have finally discovered me! I have made some progress and have finally achieved perfect human form, attaining the body of a human being!"
Xi Miao seemed to finally be unable to hold back and began to laugh out loud.
"Otherwise, how could my illusory magic possibly trap the Bodhisattva's incarnation?"
As she spoke, Xi Miao put away her previous playfulness and solemnly bowed to the descending Bodhisattva.
"Please come into my cave for a chat!"
The two bodhisattvas nodded with smiles, and couldn't help but praise, "Excellent!"
