Chapter 515 You've eliminated the enemy's reconnaissance?
"Captain Hodge, another marker has appeared ahead!"
Taking a deep breath, Hodge looked up at the airship in the sky and said in a deep voice, "Follow it."
They were an expeditionary force stationed near the train, but earlier today, a huge explosion was heard near the camp. When they went to investigate, they found a string of words left on the ground.
Someone was guiding the resistance fighters in the right direction.
Hodge, Erwin, and Alexei all suspected it was a trap. When had the expeditionary force ever provided assistance in the North?
However, the biggest problem for the expeditionary force now is that not only can they not find Gwen's resistance forces, but they can't even find the enemy.
Alexei then gave Hodge a large group of men without hesitation, along with airship support from the sky, and instructed him to follow the directions.
Finding the resistance would be ideal, but even a trap wouldn't be bad; a fierce battle with the enemy would be a good way to vent our anger. As for whether it's a diversionary tactic to lure the enemy away and then attack the camp after the expeditionary force leaves, that remains to be seen.
Putting aside the concrete fortifications that hadn't fully hardened, the expeditionary force had a whole bunch of armored train locomotives parked on their side. Alexei was curious to see what weapon could break through the locomotives' defenses.
So Hodge followed along with a group of people.
"Captain! The airship has given us a signal! Resistance forces have been spotted ahead, and they're engaged in battle!"
"Damn it, it really is the resistance! Ladies, set up the heavy machine gun! Get the scouts..."
"Captain! The war correspondents have charged up!"
Hodge stared in disbelief as Nini, carrying a bunch of Gatling guns and dragon breath cannons, led several banshees and rushed past in a flash. If you looked closely, you could also see an inconspicuous little box on her waist.
That was Castells' latest camera.
"Damn it, Nini, what are you doing up there? I haven't even sent in any scouts yet!"
"Don't worry, we'll help you investigate. We'll write it all down for you when you come up here to report!"
Before Hodge could respond, the messenger beside him suddenly pointed to the sky: "Captain! The airship has charged straight up!"
"What!?" Hodge looked up. The propellers of the two airships were spinning at full speed, and the steam engines were almost smoking.
"What are they going up there for? I haven't given the order yet!"
The messenger squinted to decipher the flag signals from the lookout post on the airship and exclaimed, "They say they're carrying out the reconnaissance mission you just mentioned. Their visibility is poor, so they're preparing to approach for reconnaissance!"
"Bullshit! Their bomb bays are all open!" Hodge turned around angrily, about to speak, when suddenly he reached out and grabbed a small figure.
"Monica! What are you doing again? You're from the medical team!"
"Nini has already rushed up there, if we're too late we won't get anything! I mean, if Nini gets hurt, I have to bandage her up right away!!"
After saying that, Monica broke free from Hodge and rushed towards the battlefield.
She carried a medical kit in one hand and a bunch of weapons in each of her other five hands.
"Captain, should we follow them too?" the messenger asked cautiously.
"Damn it, damn it, what do you mean 'keep up'? We're the main force, how can we be behind the support staff? Guys, charge with me!"
Hodge was kicking himself. He had given the banshees orders to "play it by ear" because of their high mobility, but he was still too inexperienced!
Next time, we must set a proper attack sequence and keep these warmongers firmly in the back.
The logistics personnel should be doing logistics. If everyone rushes in, where are they supposed to get kills?
Expeditionary Force
Thus, the tactics of this expeditionary force turned into a completely aesthetically unappealing all-out charge.
Gwen leaned on her longsword, watching the enemies surge towards her.
She had no strength left after swinging that sword; she was at her last gasp.
She glanced at Nora behind her, grinned, and smiled through her blood- and mud-stained face. "Lady Nora, it has been an honor to fight alongside you. May the Bone Raven forgive my sins and forget my name."
She pounded her armor and turned to face the enemy.
That last strike killed many enemies, but even more remained. They were like mindless machines, their eyes bloodshot, filling the void with expressionless faces.
Gwen picked up her longsword, preparing for one last charge. She had imagined how she would die, most likely on the way to her charge.
But this time, she felt some resistance at her elbow. When she turned around, she found that Nora had actually reached out and grabbed her.
Nora pointed to a mound not far away.
Looking in that direction, Gwen was somewhat surprised to find that several tall steel giants had appeared there at some point.
The heavy black armor resembled the gates of hell, with light peeking through the helmet. Six arms were raised, taking down various weapons hanging on the armor. The crank handle was gently turned, and the gears slowly rotated the cold gun barrel.
The next moment, the dark muzzle of the gun lit up with a blazing light.
Bullets whizzed past, and Gwen recognized the sound. Lord Isaac could help the resistance stabilize the situation with just a heavy machine gun, and now each giant was carrying two platoons.
Bullets, glowing with light, poured down like a waterfall. Wherever the giant looked, enemies were reduced to pieces in the barrage, flying in all directions.
Gwen was mesmerized, staring blankly ahead, her gaze following the movement of the steel body, before slowly raising her head.
A tall giant walked past her, his armor concealing a beautiful serpent tail.
"What's this."
"The banshee of the deep sea, the angel of death of Castel, we bring death on the battlefield and toll the death knell for the enemy."
The towering giant stopped and looked down at Gwen.
"Mortals, step back now."
Her voice was authoritative and cold.
"The bombing is coming."
"Varied"
Suddenly, a shadow fell over the ground beneath Gwen's feet, momentarily obscuring even the sun.
A piercing shriek suddenly came from the sky, and Gwen subconsciously raised her head to look at the sky.
Two enormous beings filled her entire field of vision. Gwen staggered a few steps and almost fell. All she could see were those hideous teeth, bomb bays covered with bombs, and black dots falling from the sky like raindrops.
Castells' latest aerial bombs have been fitted with tail fins to improve accuracy, but the side effect is that they produce this terrifying whistling sound.
Hughes was worried that the enemy might hear the shriek and run away, thus reducing the bomb's lethality, but he soon realized he was overthinking it.
Upon hearing the shriek, the enemy would often freeze in fear, like a lamb awaiting slaughter.
Gwen's gaze followed the falling bomb, and the next moment, she saw flowers on the ground.
A flower blooming from blood, flesh, and flames.
