Chapter 665 "Then I'll stay here!"

Gear Sage!

All the investigators are Ichirin.

As one of the oldest relics of the Mechanical Sanctuary, its fame has been heard by everyone, but...
Isn't it only for giving lectures?

How can it still fight, and be so powerful?

Little Bu stared blankly at the tall Gear Sage before her, her gaze sweeping over its intricate mechanical structure. Her eyes lit up as she nodded, "Great! Great!"

boom!
Michelle was blasted from the metal construct controlled by Bruce Willis to the ground. He had already activated the barrier, but lying on the cracked floor, he still coughed up several mouthfuls of blood.

"Damn it! How is this possible?" He forced back his discomfort, his face contorted with rage as he shouted at his companion beside him.
"Don't be afraid. Although that Gear Sage is powerful, there is only one of him. We are one."

A series of mechanical clanging sounds rang out, and several other equally enormous metal structures poked their heads out of the hole that the "big guy" had just drilled out.

Wow, they've already started fighting? This ground game is really intense!

Several untouchables wearing goggles shouted with maniacal laughter.

Frey's eye twitched. These untouchables were really too strange. They were usually timid and hesitant, but once they started operating the machines, they immediately changed and became like this, crazy and eccentric.

It's as if their lives are only complete when machines are added to them.

The battle quickly descended into chaos. The machines wielded by the Untouchables possessed immense power, and each attack caused massive damage to the buildings.

The Candlelight Society's investigators truly lived up to their reputation as the most powerful supernatural beings, possessing comprehensive abilities without any weaknesses. After the initial chaos, they successfully organized themselves to fight back.

Apart from a few unlucky individuals, the casualties were not significant.

Little Bu controlled "Big Guy" to charge ahead, shouting and fighting fiercely. All the [Investigators] who intended to attack her main body were driven back by the Gear Sage.

Frey, the only mortal present, quickly realized he was completely useless. He looked around and was about to find a corner to hide when he suddenly heard someone calling his name.

"Frey, over here, over here!"

Frey turned his head and saw Gaia and Zoe hiding in a broken pipe, waving at him.

"Lady Gaia?! You haven't left yet!!"

“Actually, I had already left, but I felt your beacon getting closer and closer, so I came back to take a look.” Zoe pulled Frey closer to the pipe.

"Where did these people come from? How come they're so good at fighting?"

Gaia looked at the crudely made but functional war machines outside and didn't know what to say.

Those large machines were almost all pieced together from various discarded parts. Forget about standardization, there might not even be two identical gears on a single machine.

As the person in charge of managing the military production line, she could spot more than thirty violations of safety regulations on the machine at a glance. The mere presence of such a thing in the factory was a provocation to the safety officers.

But these big guys are able to move and attack, and those boilers that were about to explode somehow managed to hold on at the critical point.

If it happened to only one machine, that would be lucky, but if every machine did that...
“This technology is incredible,” Gaia said in a hoarse voice.

"I also find it hard to believe, and what's even more unbelievable is that they have such technology and yet they only live underground."

boom! ! !
A massive burst of light erupted as a war machine finally crippled under the investigators' onslaught. Its pilot, realizing he could no longer fight, slammed down a fist-sized red button. Then, an explosion occurred beneath him.

The explosion blew him and his seat out of the machine. Without a pilot, the machine changed direction and headed towards the area with the most people.

With its final charge, all the parts of the machine began to roar and hum.

"The boiler is overloaded? Huh? The steam engine is overloaded too? No, it overloaded every machine that could be overloaded!" Gaia stared wide-eyed, her mouth agape.

That's right, everything on that machine, both moving and immovable, started trembling, and even the toilet bowl started spraying water everywhere.

And it was still rushing towards the crowd.

The investigators' faces finally turned to terror. They no longer cared about fighting and scattered in all directions.

boom! ! !
The massive flames shattered all the glass in the church, and the impact seemed to set some machine in the mechanical sanctuary in motion, making the entire church appear unstable. Pressure relief valves on the surrounding pipes began to leak, and alarms from somewhere sounded in rapid succession.

"Let's go!" Gaia screamed, grabbing Zoe and Frey and preparing to leave, but Frey didn't move.

"What's wrong? Let's go!"

Frey glanced at Zoe and Gaia, then looked back at the Untouchables who were fighting, a hint of hesitation in his eyes.

He really should leave; he had perfectly completed his mission and even actually changed the course of the battle.

Can.
In the distance, Xiao Bu was maneuvering the machine recklessly, her face beaming with joy. It wasn't her first time on the ground, but it was the first time she had ever been this happy.

The people on the ground were still not very friendly, but driving around in those big, bouncy cars was not bad.

“What will happen to them?” Frey asked in a low voice.

Gaia hesitated for a moment, then sighed: "The Investigators are the backbone of the Holy See, but the Holy See is not just about superhumans. The massive army of mortals and the even larger number of believers are the foundation of the Church. Even if we defeat the Investigators here, it will not truly shake the foundation of the Holy See."

"Can we take all these people with us?"

Gaia turned her head and looked around. After a brief assessment, she shook her head: "Our airship can't carry that many people."

Zoe opened her mouth as if to say something, but Gaia stopped her with her hand.

The boy stood there, his face full of struggle. Finally, Frey gritted his teeth and slowly released Gaia's hand.

"Then I'll stay here."

He forced a smile, trying to appear relaxed, but it didn't work; his legs were trembling uncontrollably.

The Vatican is unlikely to let this go unpunished; a massive search of the underground world is inevitable next.

He was just a petty thief on the streets of White Stone Fortress. It had already taken all his courage to say the words of refusal, and now just thinking about what he would have to face made him feel dizzy.

Gaia gave him a deep look: "Castel has not yet declared war on the Empire, so I cannot make any guarantees for you. Have you thought it through?"

"I haven't thought it through. Could you just knock me out with one blow and then kidnap me?" Frey lamented inwardly.
