Chapter 683 The Banshees' Idol Image
Unfortunately, Hunter himself didn't seem to appreciate it much.
When Uncle Alvarez asked him a question, Hunter seemed uninterested. But when he looked up and was about to say something, his eyes lit up, and he pointed to the platform: "Look who's there!"
Yami and Alvarez looked up together and saw a group of fully armored banshees standing in neat rows on the platform.
The group of travelers had seen the harbinger of death many times, but the other passengers were in an uproar.
"My God, that's it."
"So tall and mighty."
"May the Earl protect us, may the Earl protect us!"
The merchants from other places who came here were all looking surprised.
Since the banshee mainly operates in Castel, it is not commonly seen in Blood Harbor. These merchants all need to pass through Blood Harbor to enter and exit customs, so most of them have never seen the banshee.
In fact, many people had never even heard of the existence of the banshee; they only came to Blood Harbor because they heard that it had low-priced, high-quality goods.
Upon seeing the towering, almost giant-like banshees arrive, a commotion immediately broke out among the crowd.
boom!
The leading female demon slammed her scepter on the ground, and people instinctively looked over, only to see a pair of cold eyes.
Those eyes were like abysses, sucking in all of a person's emotions and slowly crushing them. By the time people realized what was happening, only an eerie peace remained in their hearts.
—The banshees are a race of the mind; by releasing even a little bit of the aura of the Sea of Ignorance, they can intimidate these mortals.
"How did they get here? And why are they dressed so neatly?"
Hunter muttered to himself, his brows gradually furrowing.
The banshees' tasks are mostly dangerous or important, or both. Simply put, they shouldn't have seen the banshees here if the train hadn't exploded.
Moreover, there were so many of them, and they were even neatly dressed in armor.
Will the candlelight be lit up? Or will the attack start at the station?
Hunter shook his head; the idea made him laugh.
Beside him, Yami pondered for a while, then suddenly his eyes lit up.
"Are they here to see someone off?"
"Coming to send someone off? Who would have such a grand gesture, sending banshees to send someone off? Even the lord wouldn't have that kind of presence, would he?"
Hunter said casually.
"No, no, no, haven't you noticed that the banshee has become much more serious lately? Just recently... to be precise..."
Hunter realized what was happening: "You mean the Silent Sanctuary?"
The group looked up and, sure enough, saw a group of figures dressed in priest robes behind the banshees.
“Oh, that’s Patriarch Ignatius. You guessed right, he’s from the Silent Sanctuary.” Alvarez exclaimed. He had met the Patriarch when he was still the Grand Duke of the North.
It's ironic that this meeting wasn't in White Raven or the North, but in Bloodharbor.
Yami and Hunter exchanged a glance and smiled knowingly.
Alvarez had not been in Castel for long and did not know much about the banshees, but Yami and Hunter had arrived on the island much earlier.
They knew exactly what these harbinger banshees were like; when they were acting so serious, they were probably up to no good.
The church prayers that day, combined with the power of the Stellar Furnace, successfully scared many of the priests in the Silent Church back to their wards, and the banshees were so happy they almost threw a banquet to celebrate.
However, the problem was that it was too successful.
From then on, the succubi became awkward.
They suddenly realized that they seemed to have developed an image to maintain.
The scene of quiet prayer in the church that day was deeply imprinted in the hearts of every silent church priest; that powerful figure was simply too appealing to them.
From then on, the banshees thoroughly experienced the enthusiasm of these White Crow people. Even Monica, who was barely two meters tall, had people asking for her autograph. From then on, these banshees began to put on serious faces, wearing full suits of heavy armor when entering and leaving the island, and their behavior was forced to become much more normal.
At least that's how the priests in the Silent Church are when they're here.
Hunter and Amy looked at the banshees present. They still appeared powerful and silent, but who knew if their faces beneath the heavy armor were already beginning to contort.
"Wait, are they going to ride in the same car as us?" Yami suddenly realized.
“It looks like it, this number.” Alvarez poked his head out and counted the number of people on the other side.
"There are probably more than ten people in the Silent Sanctuary. They must be heading to the Northern Territory to check on the White Disaster, right?"
When the word "white disaster" was mentioned, the group fell silent.
It is said that Castells tamed the White Catastrophe, at least preventing it from heading south.
This was quite beyond their expectations, and it finally made them feel more real about the trip.
Especially Yami.
He turned to look at Grand Duke Alvarez beside him, then at Patriarch Ignati in the distance.
These are all important figures in the secular world, the most powerful beings in the past.
Just a few years ago, he was a slum dweller whose biggest goal in life was simply to have a house that didn't leak, and maybe even a kitten. That was all.
Today, they are on the same bus, heading to the North to build that bountiful land.
But what Yami didn't know was that the important figures he would meet were far more numerous than this—an airship returning from the Empire, due to the effects of a thunderstorm, had circled around and made an emergency landing in the North.
The train heading north, billowing thick smoke, sputtered away as its steam engine propelled the wheels into the distance.
Hughes and the prince had just finished finalizing the details of the arms deal when he casually opened their mental link to take a look, only to be nearly driven mad by the flood of messages.
"Hahahaha, they're finally gone! Waaaaaah!"
"Go now, and don't come back. I don't want to wear armor every day anymore, have to march in formation, and not be able to speak!"
"Una, you don't usually talk much, do you?"
Is not speaking the same as being unable to speak?
"Stop arguing, quickly check if Ignati has left yet!"
"They're gone! The train has left the dock area; it'll be completely out of sight after two more bends!"
'wuhu~'
Hughes closed the mental link and turned to look out the window.
The banshees stood in two rows, each holding a scepter, standing silently like steel statues at the station.
Hughes opened the mind link.
"Freedom! Freedom!"
"I don't want to go to church to pray this year!"
Hughes's eye twitched.
He thought these female demons could hold out until all the priests of the Silent Church left, but to his surprise, they revealed their true forms as soon as Ignati left.
Most of the [Buried Ones] are still on the island!
However, to be fair, these priests in the silent sanctuary are in some ways no less capable than the banshees.
