Chapter 764 Little Bu's Wish

Isabella wasn't in a hurry to gain more spoils; she simply directed her knights to roll across the battlefield again and again, like a mischievous child drawing graffiti on the mud.

She turned the battlefield into hell.

The Imperials were terrified. The Imperial cavalry that was supposed to come to their aid had vanished without a trace; they had run much faster than the infantry.

Meanwhile, infantry on other fronts scattered and fled for their lives, fear spreading like a plague across the battlefield.

After leading her knights in several charges, Isabella turned back to look at the battlefield.

Chaos reigned, and the empire has yet to mount a counterattack, even with only a few dozen men.

"This is pointless, let's go back." Isabella waved her hand behind her, and the knights reluctantly left the battlefield.

Most of them were very excited, and Galahad even shouted taunts at the other side:

"You little brats of the Empire, times have changed! Throw away your lousy muskets, this is the age of knights!"

The extraordinary individual who followed the [Knight] path had always been pitifully weak due to the lack of a church as a backer, but now he finally got to hold his head high.

He had just been charging on horseback while firing a Gatling gun, and it was incredibly exhilarating. Now, he was beaming with pride, convinced that he had found the way of the "Knight."

Other methods may be powerful, but none can match his ability to fire recklessly while riding a horse.

The only way to fight is if the Investigator is riding the Burialer.

Isabella looked at Galahad's arrogant demeanor and found it amusing: "Do you even remember why we came here?"

Galahad was taken aback: "Uh, investigation?"

"What did they find out?"

Galahad was completely stumped. After stammering for a while, he took off his helmet and scratched his head: "They've never seen our weapons before."

“That’s right, they haven’t seen it before, which is unusual.”

"The Candlelight Society's investigators are best at investigating and gathering intelligence; there's no reason they wouldn't be able to get this kind of information from us."

Indeed, Castells' expeditionary force did not conceal these weapons when attacking the North; both Gatling guns and bolt-action rifles appeared on the battlefield.

The Imperial soldiers may not have seen it, but the investigators who went to the North definitely gathered this information.

Even Galahad noticed something was wrong: "Is the Vatican still fighting amongst itself? Hasn't this intelligence been distributed?"

“I tend to think of another possibility,” Isabella said calmly. “The Vatican’s focus is not on this.”

"You mean"

"Jules may have other trump cards up his sleeve, so he hasn't put too much effort into dealing with the ordinary soldiers. We'll just have to see how they react after this battle."

Hughes provided Isabella with a lot of information, especially about the former Mechanics Society.

As the Empress, Isabella knew a great deal about the Mechanical Sanctuary. She knew that they did have some war machines, but most of them were no longer usable, and those that were still usable were revered as sacred objects. They were not allowed to use them, let alone even look at them.

The Mechanical Sanctuary is now completely controlled by the Candlelight Order and exists in name only. The Mechanical Sanctuary cares about its relics, but the Candlelight Order does not.

These ancient war machines will likely be used on the battlefield.

"So we shouldn't push the front lines too quickly. If you're holding a Gatling gun today and say that times have changed, who knows, tomorrow the churches of the Empire might stand up and change the times you've changed back to the way they were."

Galahad felt a chill run down his spine upon hearing this.

Isabella wasn't just joking; given the mechanical sanctuary's style, there might actually be churches that could stand upright. "So, shall we wait for Castel's land-based ark plan?"

Isabella laughed in exasperation: "There's no need to be so conservative. They haven't even fixed the leaks yet, who knows when they'll be able to. Besides, Castell's ironclad warships have arrived. Whose cities will be credited as theirs or mine?"

Galahad remained silent.

Indeed, relying on Castel is a very safe choice. Once this behemoth is running at full speed, there are no enemies in front of it, only ants to be crushed.

But these people are like ants in front of Castel.

If you don't demonstrate your own value, you're not qualified to walk alongside this steel giant; you still have to fight the battle yourself.

"Complete the replacement of troops with the new weapons as soon as possible, and then launch a full-scale attack. All troops must gain experience in using the new weapons, and you..."

Isabella's gaze fell on Galahad, and the knight quickly straightened his back.

"You need to develop new tactics as soon as possible. At least one thing you're right about is that times have indeed changed, and they are constantly changing, so we must change with them."

Isabella looked at her knights and the guns in their hands. She had achieved more glorious victories before, but never with such ease.

The soldiers weren't covered in blood the last time, but today, their armor wasn't even dirty.

The young empress licked her lips: "I wonder what the battles will be like in the future. I can't wait."

Castells.

Xiao Bu sat nervously in the chair, watching the soldiers bustling around the door.

They were dressed in clothes that covered them from head to toe, with not a single inch of skin showing, and even their eyes were covered by two transparent glass lenses.

Xiao Bu was a little uneasy. After delivering the letter, she was brought here, supposedly to undergo some kind of disinfection procedure.

The room she was in had no windows, and even the door was sealed.

Out of caution, Hughes decided to temporarily isolate Little Bu.

After all, Little B is an underground resident, completely isolated from the rest of the Rhine, and might even be a subspecies of human that evolved independently.

This situation could very well carry some unknown diseases, just as Europeans brought smallpox to Native Americans.

Therefore, although Xiao Bu completed his mission, he was unable to return for a short time and is currently isolated in the test site in Gem Bay.

To appease her and to compensate her for her contributions, Xiao Bu's requests were generally fulfilled.

This was quite useful; after hearing that he could have whatever he wanted, Xiao Bu stopped resisting the temporary isolation.

And what she demanded.
"Little Bu, I want clothes!"

Hughes was stunned for a moment after hearing the request. After confirming that it was not a metaphor for demanding freedom, he actually shipped a batch of clothes over from Blood Harbor for her.

—Although Castells is an industrialized country, Blood Harbor has a richer variety of clothing styles and trends.

Xiao Bu didn't care about any of that. She casually picked up a piece of clothing and happily changed into it.

After Hughes patiently asked her if she had any other requests, Little Bu's request made him pause again.

"I want knowledge."
