Hollywood starts with an agent

Chapter 14: Vision and Courage

Chapter 14: Vision and Courage
The weather in Los Angeles in April is warm and it is sunny spring time!
In West Hollywood, Aaron, lying on the bed, suddenly opened his eyes. Nicole Kidman was playing with her long hair on her face.

"It's so early in the morning, why don't you sleep?" Aaron said as he turned over and lay face down. Although Nicole Kidman, who is only 22 years old now, is definitely a sexy beauty, she can't resist the bad temper when she wakes up.

Nicole Kidman smiled, lying on Aaron's back and resting her chin on the man's shoulder, "Why, you were like a lion last night, tireless!"

"Well, thanks for the compliment," Aaron rubbed his eyes. "It's the weekend, so there shouldn't be anything important to do!"

Well, there should be no weekends for agents, but who says Aaron is not a serious agent?
"Are you going to the Cannes Film Festival?" Nicole Kidman inquired.

"Yes, I'm going there at the end of this month. Director Steven Soderbergh is also going there."

“His work was shortlisted for the Palme d’Or!”

Aaron hugged Nicole Kidman in his arms and kissed her. "Want to go over and take a look?"

"May I?"

"Of course, it's just the Cannes Film Festival, just treat it like a vacation!"

Aaron went to Cannes not only to witness the success of "Sex, Lies, and Videotape", but also to take on the distribution rights promotion business of several films.

"Okay, sleep a little longer," Aaron said as he patted the woman in his arms. He wondered if Nicole Kidman would have another chance to meet Tom Cruise?
"Well, did we offend that executive from Orion last night?"

Aaron shook his head. "Who knows if he'll remember us? Don't worry, don't think too much. When you have time, read my script 'Ghost' several times."

"When the time comes, I'll see your man help you make a big splash in Hollywood!"

"And make a big splash?" Nicole Kidman also laughed...

At noon, the two got up and went to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Nicole Kidman saw a piece of news in the newspaper and exclaimed in surprise.

Aaron also took a glance and saw that all the crew members had a sudden food poisoning incident on the set of "Total Recall" filmed by Carlock in Mexico City, Mexico. Only the male lead Arnold Schwarzenegger was safe because his food was customized in the United States!
"Arnold's salary for this movie is $1100 million, and he is getting closer and closer to Stallone," Aaron explained.

As for action stars, Bruce Willis emerged again in last year's "Die Hard";
Add in Harrison Ford, Easter Clintwood, and Mel Gibson, and today's action movie stars are indeed worth a lot of money!

"The gap between male and female stars is too big. The top female stars only get paid two to three million dollars," Nicole Kidman shook her head.

Aaron glanced at the other person and said, "Now all you need is a few hundred thousand dollars. Become famous first!"

Afterwards, Aaron flipped through the financial newspapers, which were full of news about Japan and how Japanese companies had acquired some American assets.
According to what Aaron knows, Sony's acquisition of Columbia Pictures should have been finalized, and now all that's left is the final official announcement.

Since the Plaza Accord, Japan has embarked on a wave of overseas acquisitions, and resources like Hollywood are the dream place for Japanese investors!

At night, Nicole Kidman lay in Aaron's arms with a rosy face, and her fair skin was rosy and very charming.

"Isn't it a bit inappropriate to go to bed with your client so soon?" Aaron said while caressing the girl's body.

Nicole Kidman raised the corner of her mouth, "Why didn't you say that when you were lying on me just now?" "Well, let's stay here for a few days, and then we'll go to Cannes together," Aaron smiled. Nicole Kidman is very attractive now!

"Got it..." Nicole Kidman said, and then took the initiative to kiss Aaron passionately.

At the end of April, Aaron will go to Cannes, France in advance to arrange related matters for Steven Soderbergh;
After all, he is a new director shortlisted for the main competition unit, and it is CAA's job to sell the international copyright of "Sex, Lies, and Videotape".

Meanwhile, the film "Over the Horizon," starring Nicole Kidman, also grossed $700 million.

This kind of movie only has a release date of a month or so, so it seems hopeless to hit $800 million.

Although my time with Nicole Kidman is still short, I can enjoy some time when I go to Cannes next!

At CAA headquarters, Paula Wagner looked at Aaron Anderson and asked, "What are your thoughts on international representation for Sex, Lies, and Videotape?"

"Just sell it out, Steven Soderbergh also means the same thing." They are all newcomers and don't have any unrealistic ideas.

"The main markets are Japan and Europe. I will directly sell the theatrical screening rights, videotapes and TV broadcast rights in a package;"

"As long as Sex, Lies, and Videotape can gain some fame in Cannes, it will be easy to sell the distribution rights!"

Moreover, Miramax has the North American screening rights for the film. As the world's largest entertainment market, North America is of great importance.

In any case, Miramax also hopes that this film can become famous in Cannes, which will help them to distribute it domestically.

Last year, North American cinema box office revenue exceeded $40 billion, a 15% increase compared to the previous year.

After the economic crisis, the domestic industry downturn promoted the development of the film business. After all, going to the cinema is a relatively cheap way of entertainment for Americans.

"Since you have plans, that's great. Underwriting the distribution rights for film works is the job of an agency. I just didn't expect you to be able to accomplish this on your own!"

Aaron smiled and said, "Nowadays, independent publishing companies mainly focus on horror and gory works;"

"This kind of literary and artistic or overseas art films don't attract a lot of attention, and the market competition is small."

Paula Wagner shook her head. "Low market competition means distributors won't pay much attention to your film, and your chances of getting into theaters are even smaller!"

Aaron also agreed that it was a pity that Harvey Weinstein of Miramax was indeed ahead of many people;
Many other film companies dare not release these art films, but Miramax does, and this company really attaches great importance to artistic works.

No wonder this guy will be called the king of independent films and the savior of artistic works in the future. He is quite courageous!

“When are you going to Cannes?”

"Tomorrow's flight..."
