Chapter 83 The aftermath

Chapter 83 The aftermath
Two days later.

The Sidewinder hovered over the target area. The surroundings were empty and cold, like a silent place forgotten by time.

Fang Yan sat in front of the main console, looking very nervous.

Long before setting out, he had made careful preparations for this rescue operation, envisioned countless possibilities, and developed an extremely complex plan based on his own speculation about the abyss.

The first step is to locate the space crack.

Fang Yan plans to use an ultra-high frequency gravitational wave detector and a quantum phase interferometer, in conjunction with a spectrometer, to perform three-dimensional scanning, peeling off the energy structure in the void layer by layer, and ultimately confirming the location of the abyss.

The second step is to guide the space vortex.

Even if the crack is found, it is not easy to enter. For this reason, Fang Yan plans to use an artificial gravitational source and an energy stimulator to create a high-frequency resonance field in the target area, causing a slight distortion of the space structure and forcing the energy fluctuations of the crack to overflow temporarily.

This step is very dangerous. Once the resonance field deviates slightly, it will cause spatial fluctuation disorder, causing oneself to be torn apart instantly or even thrown into an unknown dimension.

The third step is to jump across dimensions.

Perform an inter-dimensional jump at the rift location. In a very short time, use a powerful energy impact to break the boundary between reality and void and briefly enter another space.

Any slight energy fluctuation may cause the jump to fail. In order to prevent the worst outcome, Fang Yan prepared a variety of measures including emergency energy release and protective jump barriers.

The plan is complex and dangerous. Whether it is locating the rift, guiding the vortex, or finally jumping across dimensions, every step needs to be completed in an instant. Any slight error may lead to irreversible consequences.

Call ~
Fang Yan took a deep breath, placed his hands firmly on the operating table, and prepared to go all out.

At this moment, the detector suddenly issued a rapid alarm.

Fang Yan was startled and quickly turned his gaze to the display screen, only to see a huge energy wave approaching rapidly from the right, which almost instantly broke through the detector's upper limit.

Before he could react, a slightly worn-out second-hand frigate gradually appeared on the main display screen, with the logo of the Merchant Alliance on its hull.

Brown's boat!

Fang Yan widened his eyes. He never expected that Brown would come back!

Fang Yan was a little embarrassed. He had imagined countless ways to find Brown and was even prepared to face the terrifying existence in the abyss, but he never thought that Brown could escape from the abyss alone!

In an instant, Fang Yan was overwhelmed with emotions.

He felt as if he had greatly underestimated Brown.

……

Brown looked a little tired, but there was still a tenacious light in his eyes. The two old friends looked at each other silently. After a few seconds, Fang Yan reached out and held Brown's arm tightly.

After a long while, he said, "Brown, I underestimated the difficulty this time. I originally thought this was just an ordinary space bubble. I never thought it would be the legendary abyss!"

Brown smiled and looked at Fang Yan with a calm gaze. "No need to explain. In fact, I'm very pleased. Seeing that you are willing to take the risk to come to me alone is enough to prove the friendship between us."

"The most important thing now is what is inside the abyss."

Inside the abyss?

Fang Yan was startled for a moment and pricked up his ears unconsciously, while Brown told Fang Yan about his experience in the abyss in the most concise and clear language possible.

The captain's log, the war between the Galactic Empire and artificial intelligence, and then to the miraculous mining area with a large number of precious mineral veins.

Fang Yan was stunned. He never expected that Brown would have such an adventure and such an amazing discovery in the abyss.

To be honest, Fang Yan disagrees with the war between humans and artificial intelligence. In his knowledge system, artificial intelligence cannot betray humans, because the most important rule of artificial intelligence is that it must never violate the four laws.

First Law: Artificial intelligence cannot harm humans.

Second Law: Artificial intelligence cannot disobey human orders, but it must not violate the First Law.

Third Law: Artificial intelligence must maintain its own existence, but must not violate the First and Second Laws.

The Fourth Law: Artificial intelligence must maintain the existence of human society as a whole.

Under the control of the four laws, artificial intelligence is logically perfect and impeccable. Fang Yan could not figure out why artificial intelligence would become the enemy of mankind.

Unless, the artificial intelligence that Brown is talking about does not have the four laws.

"There's no time to explain." Brown said anxiously, "I must take you to Qinyan to see what I found in the abyss!"

……

Without further ado, Brown took Fang Yan back into the abyss.

The Cobra constantly adjusted its posture in space, sometimes leaning to the left, sometimes diving slightly upward. Every turn was like a precisely calculated trajectory, and these seemingly irregular movements all followed some hidden rules.

"I've figured out how to enter and exit the abyss." Brown's voice was confident and calm. "The entrance to the abyss is a moving spatial rift, so we have to move too. As long as our speed and angle match the rift, we can pass through smoothly."

"As for the principle," Brown shrugged. "I don't understand it either. It's just a hunch. Look at the track on the navigation system. When the track aligns with the gravitational fluctuations, that's when we enter the abyss!"

After listening to this, Fang Yan stared at the track record. The complex data stream on the screen seemed to be converging into a mysterious and profound track.

The speed of the Sidewinder gradually increased, and Fang Yan could feel a slight vibration inside the hull. Brown's eyes were focused, like a hunting beast. He pulled the joystick to the left suddenly, and the spacecraft completed an incredible sharp turn in a very short time.

sigh~
"Now!" Brown shouted.

Before Fang Yan could fully react, the starry sky around the Sidewinder changed drastically, as if a crack was suddenly torn in the void. After a brief vibration, the hull was dragged into another world by invisible gravity.

Fang Yan felt as if he had fallen into the deep sea. It was pitch black all around him, with only the lights of the spaceship flickering in the darkness.

"Has this entered the abyss?!"

"I have to say, you have a terrifying intuition."

Fang Yan was amazed, and Brown smiled and said, "Back then, my father said the same thing. He even wanted me to inherit our family business and become a navigator, or even manage a fleet."

"Unfortunately, although I enjoyed piloting starships, I was more interested in science. I ended up becoming an engineer, and even had a huge argument with my old man because of it."

Brown talked about his past.

Ancestral property?

pilot?
Managing a fleet?
These words aroused Fang Yan's great curiosity. "Can I ask what your father does for a living?"

Uh…

Brown realized that he had said something he shouldn't have said in the heat of the moment, so he said lightly, "Nothing, just an ordinary worker."

"Let's not talk about that for now. Look ahead, that battleship. That's where I found Captain Williams' log."

Fang Yan looked in the direction of Brown's finger and saw that the huge hull had long been damaged and stood in the darkness like a lonely tombstone.
