Age: My Small World

Chapter 40 From Light to Dark

Chapter 40 From Light to Dark
Yang Jun went to look for Mr. Hu today, but he couldn't find him at his original location.

"Could he have run away?" he guessed.

Before, the things that Mr. Hu sold here were the kind that no one wanted even if they were only worth a few cents. Now that he has sold his most valuable jade and made some money, he probably doesn't want to continue setting up the stall, especially with the atmosphere becoming increasingly strict recently.

"No, I have to go to his house tomorrow."

He was still thinking about Mr. Hu's fighting moves, and felt unwilling to fail to learn them.

Then Yang Jun went inside and came to Zhou Qiang's stall, but the place that was usually crowded was now empty.

"Uncle, do you know where this stall owner went?"

He looked at the stall owner that Zhou Qiang often greeted and asked softly.

"Hey boy, I remember you. Are you here to see Daqiang again?" The uncle glanced at him and raised his eyes, indicating that he recognized him.

"I have something to talk to Brother Daqiang about. Can you tell me?"

The uncle didn't refuse and pointed happily.

Yang Jun looked in the direction he pointed, and saw that it was not Zhou Qiang, but a boy of about twelve or thirteen years old.

"That's the kid from Daqiang's family. Just ask him and you'll know."

"Thanks, uncle."

Yang Jun thanked him and walked towards the child.

"Hello, I'm looking for Big Brother Xiao Zhouqiang."

The half-grown child had actually noticed him a long time ago. After taking a closer look at him, he asked, "Are you a fishmonger?"

"How do you know?" Yang Jun asked and then suddenly understood. Maybe Zhou Qiang had told the child about his appearance.

Unlike the vendors and ordinary customers here, Yang Jun's temperament is actually quite different. The youthful vigor of the new era and the image of a scholar are absolutely outstanding, so he is easy to recognize.

This made him secretly alert. It seemed that if he wanted to go to the dark market or even the ghost market in the future, he would have to hide himself and learn how to disguise himself.

"My father said that there is a scholar who is his regular customer. Isn't that you?" The child smiled.

"Come with me, my father doesn't work here anymore."

It was just a child, so Yang Jun was not afraid and followed him.

On the way, he learned the child's name, Zhou Yan.

After passing the market, the two walked into a relatively quiet alley.

Zhou Yan walked straight to a door and knocked on it.

"Creaky." The door opened, and the person who appeared in front of him was Zhou Qiang.

"Little brother, why are you here?"

Zhou Qiang looked somewhat happy, then he touched his son's head and said with a smile: "This is my son Zhou Yan. When he is free, I ask him to wait in the market and let regular customers come over here. Don't be offended."

"Xiao Yan, call me uncle."

"Uncle." Although Zhou Yan looked like Yang Jun was not much older than him, he still called him obediently.

Yang Jun coughed lightly and said, "Let's discuss our own affairs."

"It's okay, just call me whatever you want."

"Okay, you go back and watch over it. If anyone comes to see me again, I will bring them here." Zhou Qiang called out.

"I know, I'm the boss." Zhou Yan pouted and ran away.

After hearing the explanation, Yang Jun thought to himself that it was no wonder that this guy had been squatting in the market.

He was even more surprised at Zhou Qiang's actions. He had turned his business from open to secret so quickly, and he was afraid that he would suffer a lot of losses in the process.

Being able to have such perseverance to make such a decision, he will probably not be affected too badly by future turmoil. He is a capable person.

"By the way, are you coming here to fish again?"

Zhou Qiang asked immediately.

Yang Jun shook his head: "I want to buy some meat, do you have any?"

Zhou Qiang didn't hesitate: "Yes, we do, but it's a bit expensive, 81 cents per pound."

The price is indeed high. "No problem, just give me two pounds, a little fattier." Fattier meat is the most popular and is generally recognized for its flavor.

He only had two dollars and eighty cents on him, so he couldn't buy much.

"Then please wait a moment, I'll be back soon." Zhou Qiang didn't go into the room behind him, but went out instead.

Yang Jun simply waited there.

About five minutes later, Zhou Qiang came back with his hands hidden under his clothes.

After entering the alley, he stretched out his hand again, holding a piece of white meat.

"It's exactly two kilograms. See if you are satisfied." He grinned.

Yang Jun looked at the piece of meat that was half lean and half fat and nodded: "Just right."

Then he took out the money, counted out one dollar and sixty-two cents and handed it over.

Zhou Qiang took the money and put it in his pocket without counting it again.

"If you need anything in the future, just come here and find me. If I'm not here, you can also find my son."

"No problem." Yang Jun left as casually as ever.

After he left, Zhou Qiang walked out of here and went to the door of the other room, opened the door and went in in one go.

……

After returning home, my mother, who had arrived at the house earlier, came to greet me.

"Xiaoshan, come and drink some sugar water."

"Huh? What else are you holding?"

"Mom, I bought some meat. Let's make dumplings tonight."

He actually wanted to make a bowl of braised pork with rice, but the conditions did not allow it.

Besides, my mother and the others prefer dumplings, so it’s up to the family’s opinion. Yang Jun doesn’t mind what they eat.

"When did you sell fish again?" Since Yang Jun had given the reason for selling fish in advance, Li Xiaohua didn't doubt where he got the money.

"Mom, don't worry about it. Just make more dumplings for me tonight. I remember you haven't eaten in a long time."

"Mom, it seems you are greedy." Li Xiaohua pinched her son's face for the first time and smiled.

"Okay, Mom will make dumplings and noodles for you tonight."

After saying that, Li Xiaohua yelled into the house, "Erniu, go feed the chickens and rabbits."

"Big girl, come and light the fire."

"I know, mother." The second sister came out mumbling, and her eyes immediately fell on the two pounds of meat, as if they were about to glow.

"Mom, when did you buy the meat? Why didn't I see it?"

Yang Yumei swallowed her saliva somewhat helplessly at this moment.

Meat, it’s been a long time since I last had it.

Although fish is also meat, it is not as delicious as authentic pork.

"This is what Xiaoshan earned from selling fish. I'll make it later. Stop looking and go feed the chickens and rabbits."

"Hehe, Xiaoshan, it's worth it that I'm so nice to you. I even bought some meat for you." Yang Yumei ruffled Yang Jun's hair with a doting look.

"Don't worry, I will definitely prepare delicious food for our family every day in the future." Yang Jun said, patting his chest. Unfortunately, the mother and daughter just smiled, and the eldest sister came out and went straight to the stove.

Well, he will prove what he said later.

Seeing that he had nothing to do at home, Yang Jun went to feed the chickens with his second sister.

The chickens and rabbits were all in a small shed next to the house. It used to be a pigpen, but now there were no pigs in it.

Speaking of which, although the family cannot buy pigs, Yang Jun himself wants to buy a few and raise them in the space, so that there will be no shortage of pork in the future.

It just so happens that I'm going to Yu Li's village this weekend, and I'll get this done after I get the feed.
