Chapter 11 The Mysterious Man in the Forbidden Forest
Chapter 11 The Mysterious Man in the Forbidden Forest
"Weiss, are the students getting along well?"
Dumbledore smiled and handed over the candy, but Weiss waved his hand to indicate that he was not interested.
"Principal, please tell me if you have something to say. I'm very busy." Wes smoothed his messy hair.
"With three classes a week, you have the least time among the professors."
Dumbledore continued.
Weiss spread his hands helplessly and said, "Okay, please tell me if you have anything to say."
Dumbledore then took out a transparent bottle from under the table, which contained some bright silver liquid.
Weiss knew what was inside at a glance, and it also emitted a very attractive soft glow.
"This is it!" Wes's eyes widened unconsciously and he held the bottle tightly. The greed that flashed across his face was quickly concealed by him.
"This is unicorn blood." Dumbledore looked solemn at this time.
Weiss reacted quickly. He stared at Dumbledore in surprise and said, "Is someone hunting unicorns in the Forbidden Forest?"
You know, unicorns are extremely powerful, pure and noble magical creatures with almost no natural enemies in nature.
The fact that such a rare unicorn blood was collected indicated that someone had deliberately carried out a cruel hunt in the Forbidden Forest.
"It's worse than that," Dumbledore frowned and put the bottle back under the table, and Weiss's reluctant eyes moved with it.
"Someone broke into the forbidden forest and not only killed a unicorn, but also drank its blood."
"What a waste." Weiss said subconsciously. As soon as he said it, he felt Dumbledore's eyes looking at him become sharp. He quickly changed his words: "I mean it's abominable."
Dumbledore rolled his eyes, then said seriously, "Although unicorn blood has powerful healing properties, legend has it that unicorns are sacred creatures blessed by the gods. Cruelly killing a unicorn and drinking its blood will bring on a terrible curse."
Weiss nodded in agreement and said, "Even those evil dark wizards wouldn't easily do such a cruel thing unless they were almost dead and had no other choice."
"Indeed," Dumbledore took off his glasses and wiped them carefully, "I need your help, Weiss."
"Me?" Weiss looked confused.
"Yes, Weiss," Dumbledore confirmed.
"No problem, Headmaster. I am also a member of Hogwarts and it is my duty to contribute to the school."
Weiss answered without hesitation.
"I'm glad you think so, Weiss. The Forbidden Forest is too big for Hagrid to patrol alone. I hope you can help him." Dumbledore looked at Weiss expectantly.
"Hagrid is a good friend of mine and I'm glad I could help him."
"Then I'll leave it to you. If you encounter any danger, be sure to send a signal and I will arrive as soon as possible." Dumbledore instructed.
"Don't underestimate me, Principal. These four years of experience have made me a qualified explorer."
Weiss stood up confidently and strode out of the principal's office.
For the next week, West and Hagrid patrolled the Forbidden Forest together, but nothing unusual happened in the forest during this time.
Hagrid still did not let his guard down. He gritted his teeth and swore that he would catch the hateful criminal to pay tribute to the dead unicorn.
However, Wes guessed that Hagrid was so persistent perhaps because he wanted to vent his frustration about Norbert, the Norwegian Spinosaurus that was sent away.
Norbert was hatched from a dragon egg that Hagrid won from a mysterious gambler. Unfortunately, he was later reported by Draco and had to be sent away. Hagrid has been unhappy about this ever since.
Tonight, Wes came to Hagrid's hut as usual and agreed to do a tour together.
After the two went out and were about to leave, they saw the school administrator Filch leading Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy slowly walking towards the wooden cabin from the castle, constantly threatening the two children.
"Okay, Mr. Filch, please don't scare these two little guys anymore. They're already unlucky enough."
Weiss stopped Filch's behavior in time.
"Okay, Professor Irwin." But in the end he still said sarcastically: "I hope you can return safely from the Forbidden Forest."
Coupled with his gloating expression, it is hard to believe that this is a sincere blessing.
As soon as Draco heard the word Forbidden Forest, his face turned pale and his whole body trembled uncontrollably.
"Don't worry, we'll go in together," Weiss comforted softly.
"I know you. You're the new Professor of Runes." Draco approached Weiss cautiously. "You must protect me. My father is the school director. I will ask him to promote you."
Weiss couldn't help but laugh.
He didn't dislike Draco. In his opinion, Draco was just a spoiled child.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Mr. Malfoy." Weiss said with a smile.
Draco raised his neck proudly and gave Harry a provocative look.
Harry didn't bother to answer him.
Afterwards, the four split into two groups and entered the forbidden forest from different directions.
The tall and dense trees completely blocked the moonlight, making the forbidden forest look even more gloomy and terrifying.
With the weak kerosene lamp in my hand, it was almost impossible to illuminate the road ahead.
Draco clutched Weiss's robes tightly, almost crying with fear.
"It was my negligence." Weiss quickly took out a lantern and snapped his fingers. The light instantly spread out, dispelling the darkness around him.
Draco finally let out a long breath.
Weiss handed the lantern to Draco.
Draco frowned and said, "My father said only servants carry lanterns for others."
"I've put a protective spell on this lamp, it's okay." Before Weiss could finish his words, Draco took the lantern and explained with a blushing face, "You are a professor and I am a student. It is natural for a student to hold a lantern for a professor."
"Well said, I would definitely give you extra points if this happened in class, Mr. Malfoy." Weiss said with a smile.
Then, Weiss began to take Draco on a careful inspection, and when he found some precious herbs, he put them in his pocket.
Slowly, Draco was no longer as nervous as he was at the beginning.
He began to regard this punishment as a special journey, and gradually discovered the magical and beautiful side of the Forbidden Forest, where magical animals that he had never seen before could be seen everywhere.
At this moment, a wailing sound suddenly came.
Draco's heart suddenly tightened, and he asked tremblingly, "What's that sound?"
Weiss quickly drew his wand, his expression becoming exceedingly serious: "Follow me, Mr. Malfoy."
After saying that, he trotted towards the place where the sound came from.
Draco tried to keep up with his short legs.
Along the way, the tree roots, weeds, and small animals blocking the way seemed to sense their urgency and took the initiative to make way.
Weiss suddenly stopped in front of a big tree.
"Hide here."
Weiss asked Draco to hide behind a big tree before walking out.
Draco, filled with curiosity, couldn't help but stick his head out.
He saw a snow-white unicorn emitting a holy light lying powerlessly on the ground, with blood gushing from its neck.
A mysterious man hiding under a black robe is greedily sucking the blood of a unicorn.
Draco quickly covered his mouth with his hands, afraid that he would scream out loud.
Weiss immediately rushed forward and waved his wand. The mysterious man was caught off guard and was instantly knocked away by the magic. He fell heavily on the tree trunk beside him and fell to the ground motionless.
Weiss was very cautious and still kept a certain distance, continuing to point his wand at the other party.
"Playing dead won't work, Mr. Poacher!"
Weiss shouted at the mysterious man on the ground.
"Thunderbolt explosion!"
Weiss then cast a powerful spell.
At this moment, the mysterious man rolled flexibly, and a huge hole was instantly blown out on the ground where he was just standing.
The mysterious man quickly stood up and took out his wand.
The two men were still standing face to face at a distance, and the mysterious man was covered by a black robe, so his face could not be seen at all.
The two sides confronted each other in the moonlight, holding wands, and a fierce battle was about to break out.
