Chapter 16 The side mission begins

Who is Mephistopheles?

That is the real Lord of Hell!

In the vast multiverse, he has always been famous for his cunning and cruelty.

He is a powerful being on the same level as Satan, Dormammu, Odin and other powerful bosses.

Weiss became alert again, "So, Master, you are not here to deliver gifts, but to assign tasks?"

"Mephistopheles. No, I think you, Master, still think too highly of me."

Weiss knew clearly that his current strength was not enough to confront Mephisto head-on, and that would undoubtedly be sending him to his death in vain.

Seeing Weiss's obvious misunderstanding, Ancient One slowly explained, "I'm not asking you to confront Mephisto directly. Back then, after we drove him from Earth, his true form could no longer descend upon this place. Now, he can only rely on his clones to deceive humanity."

"Even if it's just His clone, I still can't deal with it." Weiss said with a frown.

"I didn't ask you to deal with Him." Ancient One stopped playing tricks on him and said seriously, "I wanted you to protect something—the 'Saint Vanganza Contract'."

"As long as the task is completed, the gift will naturally belong to you. I promise that this gift will satisfy you."

Weiss didn't believe what Master Ancient One said, but he couldn't just reject the request of a big boss.

He was silent for a long time. Ancient One just drank his tea quietly, waiting for Weiss's answer.

"Are you sure I won't run into Mephisto while carrying out my mission?" Weiss was still a little worried and asked cautiously.

"I promise, I can swear to God..." Master Ancient One said as he raised his right hand, preparing to swear.

Weston's face was filled with black lines, and he said helplessly: "Now that you say that, I'm even more afraid to go."

[I swear to God, if you ever meet God and don't hit Him twice, then we'll have a good relationship.]

After careful consideration, Weiss finally decided to agree to Ancient One.

Of course, he could have simply disappeared through the panel, but Weiss didn't want to do that because he couldn't guarantee that next time he came to the Marvel world, he would still be able to sit across from the Ancient One and drink tea in such a friendly manner.

He was indeed a little curious about the gift that Gu Yi mentioned.

"this is for you."

Ancient One handed Weiss a spotless white quill.

"It will lead you to the 'Contract of Saint Vanganza'."

After saying these words, Ancient One disappeared without a trace in an instant, as if he was afraid that Weiss would go back on his word.

"I seem to have been cheated?" Weiss couldn't help but twitch the corners of his mouth.

"I'll trust you this time. A Supreme Mage wouldn't deceive me, right?"

"Jandi!"

As Weiss called out, the house-elf Jandi appeared before him.

"Please give your orders, Master," Jandi said respectfully.

"Pack up everything, I'm going to rest."

"As ordered."

Weiss then returned to his bedroom to rest and recuperate.

The next afternoon, Wes appeared on Arthur Avenue.

However, what he didn't know was that his photo had gone through layer after layer of rigorous screening and finally appeared on Nick Fury's computer screen.

"This is the mysterious magician."

Nick Fury maintained his usual cautious demeanor.

"Since last year, the intelligence team has been screening the identity information of everyone on Arthur Avenue, whether they are local residents, tourists coming and going, or even homeless people. They have all undergone at least three comprehensive checks."

"We also helped the FBI successfully track down several fugitive criminals during this process."

Coulson shrugged, seeming a little tired from such intense work. "So, what's so special about this Wes Irwin?"

Nick Fury asked with sharp eyes.

"For the entire year, apart from tourists from other places, he was the only stranger on the street."

Coulson said as he stroked his increasingly thinning hair.

You know, during this year, he spent countless efforts to investigate the situation of the residents of the entire street, including all kinds of tourists.

"Also, his background is incredibly clean."

Nick Fury nodded slightly, signaling Coulson to continue.

"According to a detailed investigation, Wes Irwin mysteriously disappeared from the orphanage when he was 11 years old and never returned."

"There is no record of any education, no medical records, no credit card, no Twitter account, and no close contact with anyone."

"He bought his car with cash. Over the past decade, he has left very few traces on the world. It's as if he has been living in another unknown world."

Coulson's gaze was firm, and his tone was determined. "Sir, I'm 80% sure Wes Irwin is the mysterious magician. Even if he's not, he must be hiding a great secret."

"It's obvious he's not a serious person if he doesn't even have a credit card." Nick Fury pondered for a moment, then said:
"Keep a close eye on him. Send three teams to track and monitor him day and night. If necessary, you can even use satellites. I will grant you temporary Level 7 clearance."

"Make sure you complete the mission, sir!"

Coulson did not hesitate and immediately mobilized personnel to arrange relevant matters.

Weiss drove quickly out of New York, following the direction indicated by the quill.

Not long after, he left New York State.

He had no idea that he was being followed.

"Sir, he's heading north. The area there is open, making it difficult for us to track him."

After hearing the report from his men, Coulson made a prompt decision:
"Immediately mobilize the satellites and keep a close eye on him. You must take turns following him. Don't let him see you."

"Based on his route of action, the intelligence team will quickly analyze the specific locations he might be heading to."

As soon as the order was given, dozens of agents quickly took action.

Weiss handed the steering wheel to Jandi, and sat in the back seat, took out a notebook and read it attentively.

Later, he simply cast a spell to make the car drive automatically following the direction of the quill.

Except for refueling, the car did not stop along the way.

Anyway, Wes's magical suitcase was well stocked with supplies and had enough space for him to rest.

This caused a lot of trouble for Coulson and his agents.

When we arrived in Texas, the car drove off the main road and onto a narrow lane.

After a bumpy ride, we finally arrived at an extremely desolate cemetery.

The direction the feather pen was pointing was a dilapidated-looking wooden house.

After getting out of the car, Weiss stretched his body and couldn't help complaining, "This journey is too terrible. It's not as convenient as riding a flying broom. I need to find some time to rebuild this car."

This journey really made him feel uncomfortable, and Wes planned to use alchemy to transform the car into a luxury version.

Weiss turned to look at the dilapidated wooden house and muttered to himself, "Is this where the 'Saint Vanganza Covenant' is located?"

He walked forward and knocked on the door.

"Squeak~~"

The door made a sound that made one's teeth ache.

However, what greeted Wes was not the host's kind and friendly smile, but a cold double-barreled shotgun.
