Chapter 22 Arrival
Chapter 22 Arrival
Several cars were speeding across the vast wilderness of Texas.
The wheels rolled, raising a cloud of dust that formed a long yellow dragon behind them.
These vehicles have obviously been carefully modified, with every component optimized and modified to enable them to adapt to various complex terrains with ease.
Even when driving fast on the rugged and potholed ground, it can feel as if you are walking on a flat road. The bumps in the car are minimal, and the people in the car can hardly feel any shaking at all, as if they are in a stable moving fortress.
In the largest car in the middle of the team, Weiss was concentrating on writing on a piece of paper.
The unconscious Johnny was tied securely to the seat with strong ropes.
Carter glanced casually at the paper in Wes's hand and quickly lost interest.
He shook his head, walked to a seat nearby, and closed his eyes to rest.
Coulson sat next to Wes with curiosity, staring at him without blinking, and Wes did not avoid his gaze at all.
The draft paper showed a circular magic circle with intricate and crisscross magic patterns on it.
Weiss was concentrating, constantly revising with the pen in his hand, and beads of sweat gradually seeped out of his forehead.
An hour later, Wes finally breathed a sigh of relief and handed the drawings in his hand to Coulson.
Coulson took the blueprint and looked extremely confused.
"Pass this blueprint to the engineers and have them memorize it deeply. There must not be any mistakes."
Weiss said with a serious expression and a firm tone.
"Can you tell me what this magic circle does?"
Coulson couldn't help but ask, his eyes full of curiosity.
"I'll explain it to you then."
Weiss didn't answer his question right away.
"Jandy," Weiss called out.
With a "bang", the house-elf Jandi appeared instantly.
Coulson was stunned by this sudden scene. He looked at the strange creature with surprise.
Carter, who was dozing off, heard the noise, lifted his hat brim to glance at Jandi, and couldn't help but whistled: "Magical creature."
"Keep an eye on this guy." Wes pointed at Coulson and gave orders to Jandi.
"Yes, master!" Zhan Di responded respectfully.
After giving the order, Weiss opened the suitcase beside him and walked inside.
The suitcase locks automatically.
Jandi stood in front of the suitcase diligently, his eyes fixed on Coulson, not daring to relax for a moment.
"This sir?" Coulson tried to communicate with Jandi, but he didn't know how to address him. He could only roughly judge that it was a male from the voice.
However, Jandi was unmoved and said coldly: "Stay still, you Muggle, if you don't want to suffer."
Coulson was frustrated and had no choice but to shut up and not say anything more.
When Wes came out of the suitcase after resting, he was stunned by the scene in front of him. He saw Coulson curled up in a ball.
When Coulson saw Wes, he seemed to have seen a savior. He immediately opened his eyes wide and made a "Hmm~Hmm~Hmm" sound from his mouth.
"Let him go, Jandy," Wes said.
Upon hearing this, Zhan Di snapped his fingers.
Finally, Coulson was able to stretch his stiff body. He let out a long breath, feeling relieved.
He said a little aggrievedly: "I just want to talk to this Mr. Zhan Di."
At this time, Johnny, who was drinking beer, couldn't help but complain: "You are just trying to trick me. Don't act so pitiful."
Wes glanced at Johnny, who raised his beer to signal him.
"Well done, Jandi." Weiss's praise made Jandi's face bloom with an ecstatic smile.
After Weiss assigns him a new task, Jandi disappears in an instant.
"Magical creatures, magical suitcases, magical wizards!" Johnny drank the beer in his hand and then threw the empty can out of the window in a cool manner.
The experiences of the past few days were too exciting for Johnny. Even wizards, characters that only existed in fairy tales, appeared in his real life.
"Did you tell him everything?" Wes asked.
"I only told him about the Ghost Rider thing. I have no idea about the rest."
Carter shrugged and answered helplessly.
"Okay." Weiss walked over to a chair and slowly sat down. "Where should I start?"
"Mephisto!" Johnny and Carter shouted in unison. They were both in the same boat, having been bewitched by Mephisto and forced to sign the contract.
"Well, actually, this all has to do with Mephisto." Weiss's tone became heavy.
"Mr. Erwin, can my colleagues listen together? After all, they also need to participate in what is going to happen next."
Coulson asked cautiously.
After receiving a positive response from Wes, Coulson skillfully turned on the communication device.
Although it was nominally for colleagues to hear, in reality only Nick Fury, who was far away in New York, could hear the conversation.
Weiss started by introducing Mephisto's identity and talked incessantly until he talked about how he was deceived by Ancient One and accepted this mission.
The expressions of the three people kept changing as Weiss told his story, sometimes shocked, sometimes scared.
Even Coulson, who had undergone special training and had extremely strong psychological qualities, found it difficult to fully control his expression at this moment.
The information I heard was so shocking that it was unbelievable.
The Ancient One, the Supreme Mage!
Mephisto, the Lord of Hell!
Coulson couldn't help but wonder, were these all myths made up by Wes?
However, there are two people in front of them, Carter and Johnny, who have signed a contract with Mephisto.
Coulson saw with his own eyes this morning that these two men transformed from flaming skeleton knights back into normal people, as well as the terrifying demons that appeared last night.
All of this proves that what Weiss said is true.
"Actually, I admire you two." Wes looked at Carter and Johnny with a look that seemed to say, "Are you guys crazy?"
"How dare you sign a contract with the famous and sinister Mephisto."
When Carter and Johnny heard this, they immediately showed expressions of embarrassment and regret on their faces.
Johnny slumped in the chair, muttering to himself, "It's too late now. I've lost everything. I can't even die now."
His eyes were dull and lifeless, as if he had lost the light of life and all hope.
Carter on the side was the same, his face full of despair and helplessness.
"Ask him how to stop the hell from coming."
Nick Fury urged urgently in the headset.
"I can hear your voice. Are you agents always so sneaky in doing things?" Wes said disdainfully.
Coulson didn't feel embarrassed. He skillfully pressed a few of the complicated buttons in the car.
Then, a lifelike projection of a bald, one-eyed man appeared in the car.
"Wow~ Has technology become so advanced now?"
Carter couldn't help but marvel at it. He touched it curiously, but found that his hand passed directly through Nick Fury's projection.
"Cowboy, now's not the time to be curious." Nick Fury turned his gaze to Weiss and said anxiously, "Mr. Irvin, what on earth can you do to stop the coming of hell?"
"No." Weiss spread his hands with a calm expression.
When the people in the car heard this answer, they all looked at Weiss in surprise, unable to believe their ears.
"I'm not that capable." Weiss shrugged. "I'm just completing the task assigned by the Supreme Sorcerer."
"Who exactly is the Supreme Sorcerer? Why is she not present at this crucial event concerning the survival of the world?"
Nick Fury couldn't help but start to accuse the Sorcerer Supreme, his tone full of complaints.
Weiss scoffed, "Come on, when the Sorcerer Supreme was saving the Earth, your ancestors were still being chased by lions in Africa."
Nick Fury's already dark face instantly turned purple.
"It's true that the eunuchs are anxious when the emperor isn't," Weiss said venomously. "No matter how much you worry, it's useless. If even the Sorcerer Supreme couldn't be trusted, the Earth would have been ravaged by these demons long ago."
Nick Fury was about to say something in rebuttal when the car stopped.
"Looks like we've arrived." Wes picked up the box beside him, opened the car door and walked out.
What I saw before me was a desolate and bleak scene, with weeds growing everywhere and dust filling the sky.
There is only an ancient and old temple standing there alone, which looks particularly abrupt.
"Is this San Van Gogh?" Carter and Johnny also walked out. They looked at the scene in front of them with disbelief on their faces.
"Will Mephisto come here?"
"It's better not. I don't want to face the Lord of Hell."
Although Weiss changed his past pursuit of safety, he knew that dealing with Mephisto would be tantamount to seeking his own death.
