Chapter 316 Conversation
Chapter 316 Conversation
"Is there really a way?"
The crew members of the Whitebeard Pirates gathered around Law, their eyes full of expectation and confusion. Everyone asked questions one after another, and even ignored Weis's existence for the time being.
"Gu la la la..."
A hearty laugh like muffled thunder was heard. This laugh was very recognizable and instantly silenced everyone.
"Dad~" the crew members shouted.
Whitebeard slowly walked out of the captain's room.
Although time has left obvious marks on him and he looks old, his innate dominance has not diminished at all and still makes people dare not underestimate him.
His gaze slowly fell on Weiss, with a scrutinizing look in his eyes, and he asked, "Is it Lingling you who killed?"
Whitebeard had been a companion of Big Mom and knew her strength very well. He knew that even he could not be sure of killing her.
Now that he saw Weiss, he knew in his heart that this young man's strength might have surpassed his own.
Weiss just nodded calmly without further explanation.
"To be a pirate is to kill or be killed. Even if you become a king, it's the same."
Whitebeard seemed to be lamenting the cruel rules of survival in the pirate world, and his tone revealed a kind of open-mindedness that came from having experienced many vicissitudes of life.
"Dad," Marco said anxiously at this time, "There is a way to treat your injury."
He fully hoped that Whitebeard would seize this opportunity to possibly heal his injuries.
However, Whitebeard simply grabbed the wine jug, tilted his head back, and took a large gulp of wine, saying nonchalantly, "These are just some old injuries."
Obviously, he did not want to be examined and treated by strangers.
He fought throughout his life, suffered numerous injuries in battles, and often failed to receive timely medical treatment.
When he was young, he could barely hold on and continue fighting with his monstrous strong body.
But now as I get older, my physical fitness continues to decline, and those injuries that have accumulated over the years have broken out all at once. Sometimes I am even tormented to the point of being unable to sleep all night.
Moreover, at this critical moment when war with the Navy Headquarters is about to break out, even if it takes time to heal his injuries, he feels that he no longer has that much time to waste.
"I appreciate your kindness." White Beard waved his hand, ready to send the guests away, not wanting to dwell on this matter any further.
But Weiss interrupted him directly: "Can we find a quiet place?"
"Dad."
Seeing this, Marco begged Whitebeard to receive treatment. He really couldn't bear to see his father suffer from injuries.
The other crew members also echoed this. They all regarded Whitebeard as their own father. Since there was a chance to cure their father's injury, they had to try it no matter what.
"Idiot son."
Whitebeard looked at this group of crew members who were only thinking about him and sighed helplessly. In the end, he couldn't persuade them and had to agree temporarily.
Then, Whitebeard took Weiss and Law into the captain's room.
Marco, Joz, and Vista were worried, so they accompanied him into the captain's room.
The captain's room is very spacious. After all, it is to accommodate a man of Whitebeard's size. All the facilities here are specially made, from tables and chairs to beds, all are carefully crafted according to Whitebeard's needs.
"You're determined to die and have no intention of coming back alive, right?"
Although Weiss's words were posed as questions, his tone was resolute, as if he knew everything. Marco, Joz, and Vista had barely sat down when they heard Weiss's words and suddenly stood up, their faces filled with disbelief and anger.
“What are you talking about??”
Marco's eyes widened and he shouted at Weiss emotionally. He couldn't accept what Weiss said.
However, the person involved, Whitebeard, appeared to be the calmest.
"Dad?? He's talking nonsense, right??"
Marco looked at Whitebeard eagerly, his eyes full of expectation, hoping that Whitebeard would immediately deny Weiss's words.
"I didn't expect that an outsider would see it."
Whitebeard sighed slightly and admitted so frankly that what Weiss said was true.
"Why??"
Marco became even more excited, his voice trembling with the ups and downs of his emotions. He really couldn't understand why his father had such an idea.
Whitebeard opened his mouth, but didn't know how to answer for a moment.
If he told the truth, he was afraid of hurting the feelings of these adopted sons who regarded him as their own father; but if he didn't tell the truth, he couldn't hide the situation now.
But Weiss had no such concerns and he directly expressed his opinion.
"Of course it's because you're too weak." Weiss's words were blunt and harsh.
“Are we too weak??”
Marco couldn't believe his ears. They were cadres of the Whitebeard Pirates and famous pirates on the sea. How could they be called weak?
"Sengoku, Garp, Akainu, Aokiji." Weiss read out these names one by one slowly. Every time he said a name, the expressions of Marco and the other two became more serious.
"There are still 16 vice admirals of the Marine Headquarters, not counting the other masters of the World Government. Do you, the Whitebeard Pirates, have a chance of winning?"
Weiss's eyes swept over the crowd, a trace of calm scrutiny in them.
Silence, still silence. Everyone knew that facing such a lineup, they really had no chance of winning.
They are not stupid, they just have always admired Whitebeard too much. This admiration made them subconsciously ignore the fact that Whitebeard is already an old man, and also made them have a wrong understanding of their own strength and the strength of the opponents they are about to face.
"Gulala..." Whitebeard suddenly laughed, trying to ease the depressing atmosphere. He said loudly: "Don't worry, I'll take care of everything."
But this did not make Marco and the other two feel at ease.
They knew very well that the risk of going to war with the Navy Headquarters was too great, and it would be a battle where they would be killed or survived.
But in order to rescue Ace, they had already made up their minds to pay any price, even if it meant sacrificing their own lives.
Weiss stared at Whitebeard closely and continued to ask, "What is the best outcome you expect?"
"Humph, what a cunning brat." Whitebeard said this, but he didn't intend to hide it. He slowly said: "I died in battle, rescued Ace, and the Whitebeard Pirates escaped unscathed."
"Dad!!"
When Marco and the other two heard this, their eyes suddenly turned red. How could they accept such an outcome, letting their father die? This was something they did not want to see at all.
