Chapter 39 Summoning the Basilisk

When everyone passed the last mechanism and finally arrived at the Slytherin Chamber, they seemed to have passed through the curtain of time and came to an ancient and mysterious world.

Entering the secret room, the space is so spacious that it makes people feel like they are in a huge underground palace. The surrounding walls have been eroded by time, leaving traces of countless stories.

The walls are made of ancient stones, on which time has left mottled marks. The surfaces of the stones are rough and uneven, dotted with moss, exuding a damp and ancient scent.

The walls were engraved with snake-like patterns and mysterious magic runes. Those runes emitted a strange light, flickering, as if transmitting some ancient and mysterious signal.

The ground was damp and cold. With every step I took, I could feel a slight chill coming from the soles of my feet. The chill seemed to penetrate the soles of my shoes and go straight into my bones.

The humid water vapor condensed into water droplets, dripping from the ceiling from time to time, making a crisp echo, like the pendulum of time, echoing in the empty secret room.

There is a forgotten mysterious atmosphere here, making people feel as if they have left the real world and entered a corner forgotten by time.

At the end of the Chamber of Secrets, the statue of Salazar Slytherin stood tall, like a silent guardian. Its face was majestic and stern, and every line was meticulously carved.

Many stone pillars carved with coiled and entangled snakes stood tall, like guardians, supporting the ceiling that melted into the darkness above.

These stone pillars look like huge tree trunks growing out of the ground, thick and solid.

The snake carvings on the stone pillars are vivid and lifelike, and each scale is carved in great detail, as if they would slide off the pillars at any time and turn into real creatures.

The shadows cast by these stone pillars added a touch of eerie green to the room, making the entire secret room appear even darker and more terrifying.

Lucius held his wand tightly in his hand, his fingertips turning white with tension, showing his inner tension.

His voice trembled slightly as he spoke: "Where is the basilisk?"

The sound echoed in the empty room, seeming particularly weak.

Umbridge was in even worse shape. Her hand holding the wand was shaking violently. Her face was pale and she was swallowing from time to time.

Her eyes looked around, full of fear, and any slight movement made her tremble all over.

Ms. Bones, however, appeared remarkably calm.

"Do not worry."

Dumbledore spoke calmly, his voice like a stabilizing force, making people feel at ease.

Then he played the recording. As Dumbledore played the recording, the voice of Parseltongue echoed in the Chamber of Secrets. The voice seemed like a call from ancient times, full of mysterious and terrifying power.

The ground shook slightly, and some small stones fell from the wall with a crisp sound.

Then the shaking of the ground grew stronger, and the sound of rocks falling from the walls became more frequent, as if the entire chamber was preparing for the coming creature.

The small stones rolled on the ground, as if the hourglass of time was passing.

The mouth of the huge statue of Salazar Slytherin slowly opened, revealing a deep passage.

First, a strong fishy smell came out of the passage, and then the sound of scales rubbing against the wall was getting closer and closer. The sound was sharp and piercing, making people feel creepy.

"Hi~"

"Hi~"

"coming!"

Umbridge closed her eyes in fear and her body trembled uncontrollably.

Lucius and Ms. Bones turned their gaze elsewhere to avoid looking at the basilisk.

However, Weiss took a few steps forward and stood in front of everyone. His figure looked particularly firm in the dim light.

"Dumbledore??"

Ms. Bones was very surprised, and her trembling voice revealed her concern for the young wizard facing the basilisk alone.

The Basilisk is a creature that even the most elite Auror troops cannot match. Does Dumbledore really intend to let this young man face it alone?
"Don't worry, Amelia, Weiss can handle it." Dumbledore's voice was calm and firm. He reached out and patted Ms. Bones' shoulder gently, trying to calm her nervous mood.

Ms. Bones still wanted to go forward to help, her hand tightly gripping her wand, ready to act at any time.

She was very conflicted at the moment. On the one hand, she believed in Dumbledore's judgment, but on the other hand, she was worried about Weiss's safety.

At this moment, a huge monster crawled out of the Slytherin statue. It had a blood-red feather on its head, an emerald green body, and was so huge that it looked like a moving hill.

The huge body looked to be about 15 meters long and exuded a powerful aura, making people feel an invisible pressure.

Ms. Bones stopped walking, sweat on her forehead and her heart beating faster.

She had never seen such a huge creature, and a strong sense of threat swept over her.

Facing such a huge monster, Lucius felt the same threat as Ms. Bones. He began to doubt whether it was a wise choice to follow, and he didn't know what would happen next.

Umbridge turned and ran away in fear, her figure like a panicked toad in the darkness.

Calmly, Weiss took off his robe, and with an enlargement spell, the robe became extremely huge.

His movements were skillful and confident, as if everything was under his control.

Then Wes pointed at the basilisk, and the robe flew towards it. Before the basilisk could react, the robe had entangled its eyes.

"Ordinary cloth won't hide the basilisk's sight."

Dumbledore gave a friendly reminder.

"It just so happens that my robes are not ordinary," Weiss said confidently.

The awakened basilisk was blinded before it had time to eat.

It rubbed its huge head against the Slytherin statue, trying to rub off or tear the blindfold.

But the robe showed no sign of damage.

"Look," Weiss boasted, "this seals off the basilisk's eyes."

"That's a good idea," Dumbledore praised.

"Everyone, you can look at the basilisk now. Wes has sealed the basilisk's eyes."

Dumbledore reminded again: "Next, be careful not to get hurt by mistake."

Ms. Bones and Lucius carefully observed it with their peripheral vision at first, and only after they found that the basilisk's eyes were really sealed did they feel at ease to look at this terrifying creature.

"Merlin's beard! How could such a monster sleep in Hogwarts for so long without anyone noticing?"

Ms. Bones' hands automatically covered her mouth, her eyes wide as if to take the sight in. Her voice was filled with surprise that threatened to overflow.

"We are here to deal with this hidden danger, ma'am." Weiss unbuttoned his cuffs and rolled up his sleeves.

"Please step back." Weiss stretched out his hand and motioned the two to step back.

"Flames blazing!" As Weiss waved his wand, a dazzling flame burst out from the tip of the wand, like a giant fiery red dragon tumbling in the air, heading straight for the basilisk.

The shape of this fire dragon is extremely realistic, and its scales shine in the firelight.

The basilisk felt an unprecedented threat, and its huge body began to twist violently, as if trying to break free from the ancient curse that bound it.

Every twist of its body caused the floor of the secret room to vibrate, unabashedly displaying its hidden power.

The fire dragon hit the basilisk, and the flames burned on its body, making crackling sounds. The basilisk struggled in the flames, roaring in pain, and soon the area around the basilisk turned into a sea of fire.

The temperature in the secret room rose rapidly, as if it had turned into a huge furnace.
