Chapter 57 Interlude on the Train
"The Ministry of Magic plans to allow Dementors to enter Hogwarts." Dumbledore saw Weiss about to turn around and leave, and hurriedly spoke to try to stop him.

"Dementors, considered extremely evil magical creatures, feed on human happiness, memories, and souls. They are evil spirits from the abyss that specialize in devouring the best things in people's hearts.

They are employed by the Ministry of Magic and stationed in Azkaban to guard the condemned souls. No matter who sets foot in the gloomy and terrifying land of Azkaban, they will be mercilessly tortured by these monsters.

Under the influence of Dementors, people will gradually lose all happy and joyful memories, their hearts will be shrouded in darkness, and they will fall into an endless abyss of despair.

Sirius's successful escape from prison aroused the anger of these creatures. To the Dementors, Sirius's escape was not only an insult to their dignity, but also a provocation to their duties.

The Ministry of Magic's attitude is also hard to describe. Faced with these angry Dementors, the Ministry of Magic actually chose to compromise, which is really unbelievable.

They agreed to let the Dementors leave Azkaban to hunt Sirius Black. This level of compromise makes one question the wisdom of the Ministry of Magic's decision."

Dumbledore unleashed a barrage of information at once.

Weiss, who had already walked to the door, stopped before stepping over the threshold after hearing the news. He sat back in the soft armchair.

"Where has all the sanity of those officials gone? The Ministry of Magic is useless!"

Dumbledore leaned back in his chair, the wrinkles carved by time on his face becoming deeper. He rubbed his brows, trying to relieve the fatigue of speaking so many words in one breath. After all, he was old and it was hard for him to talk too much.

"They suspect Sirius is targeting Harry and that he might try to sneak into the school. Many parents are worried about their children's safety as a result."

"Huh..." Weiss deadpanned. He raised a hand and tapped the armrest of the chair with his fingertips. "So they came up with this 'brilliant' idea? And what about the Aurors? Did they all disappear?"

Dumbledore sighed slightly: "God knows what Fudge is thinking."

"However, I have firmly rejected the Dementors' request to reside in Hogwarts."

"Fudge was very angry and became more and more wary of me." Having said that, Dumbledore sat up and straightened his back, as if everything was under his control.

Eventually, Dumbledore told Weiss that he had reached a compromise with the Ministry of Magic.

"While Dementors cannot enter the Hogwarts grounds, they can patrol the surrounding areas."

"Including Hogsmeade and the Hogwarts Express?"

Dumbledore nodded. "I'm worried that the Dementors might be tempted to attack the students on the train."

Weiss pondered for a moment and said, "I understand." Weiss agreed. As a professor at Hogwarts, he also had the obligation to protect the safety of his students.

Weiss had found time during the previous school year to learn the Patronus Charm, and if the Dementors dared to attack the students, he would show no mercy.

On the first day of school, the sun was scorching and Wes arrived at Hogsmeade.

However, in stark contrast to the usual bustling scene, due to the arrival of the Dementors, this place has become much quieter, and the once bustling streets have now become empty and quiet.

Many shops had their doors closed, and signs saying "No Customers" swayed gently in the breeze, as if expressing the shop owners' anxiety.

There were even fewer pedestrians on the road. Everyone was in a hurry and unwilling to stay for even a second.

They wrapped their clothes tightly around them and walked quickly with their heads down, fearing that they would be spotted by the terrifying Dementors. Even when they spoke occasionally, they kept their voices low and hurried away.

The September sun still shone scorchingly on the ground, but the Dementors hovering over Hogsmeade caused the temperature here to drop sharply, as if deep autumn had arrived early.

The chill was not just a physical feeling, but also a fear rising from the bottom of the heart. Dementors wandered around every corner of Hogsmeade, carefully searching for anyone or any place that might attract their attention.

These monsters had no understanding of tolerance and were brutal and direct in their actions. They approached pedestrians without warning, forcing people to express fear with their cold breath and terrifying figures.

For some reason, the monsters didn't seem to pay any particular attention to Wes, allowing him to reach the train station safely.

The sky gradually darkened, and the already gloomy sky seemed to be covered by an even thicker curtain.

Weiss keenly sensed that the Dementors were becoming more and more active, especially when the Hogwarts Express was about to arrive at the station, when the active atmosphere reached its peak.

The train full of students was filled with laughter and joy. The children's innocence echoed in the carriage, and they were full of anticipation for the upcoming new semester.

However, this train is a delicious meal for Dementors.

Sure enough, when the train arrived at the station, dozens of Dementors pounced on the train like a pack of hungry wolves.

The train was forced to stop by this sudden attack, and the noise inside the car stopped abruptly, replaced by the children's terrified screams.

It seemed that some staff members wanted to come down to negotiate with the Dementors, but were blocked in the cab by several Dementors and could not get out.

Weiss immediately performed Apparition upon seeing this.

His sudden appearance startled the driver and the staff. Seeing the frightened driver, Wes walked up to him and patted him gently on the shoulder, trying to calm his nervous mood.

"Don't worry, I'm a professor at Hogwarts. Leave the rest to me."

The driver was relieved when he heard that Weiss was a Hogwarts professor. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and nodded repeatedly. "That's great! I don't want to deal with these monsters anymore."

Weiss didn't look at the Dementors well. He turned around and spoke to them.

"Everyone get out!"

Weiss's sudden appearance caused the Dementors in the cab to let out a shrill roar, a sound a hundred times more unpleasant than a sharp ice blade scratching across the glass.

Those who heard the roar covered their heads with their hands and ears, with painful expressions on their faces.

Seeing that the Dementors remained unmoved, Wes decided to teach them a lesson.

He stretched out his index finger, and a silver-white light emerged from his index finger, emitting a very bright light.

The Dementors began to tremble under the light, and their originally terrifying figures seemed a little timid under this brilliance.

The other Dementors gathered at once, surrounding Weiss and confronting him in a tense manner.

Just then, a man in tattered clothes and with a haggard face squeezed in from the crowd.

Seeing Weiss confronting dozens of Dementors, he drew his wand and pointed it at the Dementors, then greeted Weiss: "Hello, I'm Remus John Lupin, professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts this semester. What's going on?"

Although he looks a little shabby, he is not inferior in momentum at all.

Weiss nodded slightly and responded, "Hello Professor Lupin, I stopped these filthy idiots from entering the train to search it."

Hearing Weiss' words, the Dementors became even more agitated, emitting sharp roars and looking as if they were ready to attack at any moment.
