Chapter 99 Alchemy Array
Chapter 99 Alchemy Array
Although the Black Mansion is not as magnificent as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in scale and mystery, it also hides many secret rooms that are difficult to discover even for the most experienced wizards.
One particularly secluded spot even became the last refuge of the house-elf Kreacher - a place that not even Sirius, the heir to the Black family, could easily find.
But Sirius had another idea.
"Kreacher! Show up before me immediately." With a loud call, Sirius used his position as the patriarch of the Black family to give the order.
Almost instantly, there was a fluctuation in the air, and then Kreacher appeared in front of everyone.
"Kreacher," Sirius grasped Kreacher's collar tightly, "hand over Voldemort's Horcrux." But Kreacher just lowered his head and responded in an almost inaudible voice: "I don't know what a Horcrux is..."
Seeing the other party's attitude, Sirius became even more angry. He lifted Kreacher up and forced him to look directly into his eyes.
"Stop pretending! Hand it over!"
Just when Sirius was about to lose control of his anger, Dumbledore stopped Sirius in time.
"Calm down, Sirius, violence won't solve the problem."
After a brief silence, Sirius took a deep breath.
Then, suppressing his anger, he spoke again: "Kreacher, I warn you for the last time: hand over the locket immediately."
Faced with his master's uncompromising demands, Kreacher was unable to disobey Sirius's orders.
It slowly stretched out its palm, and in its palm lay a well-made locket.
Sirius snatched the locket away, and Kreacher's emotions instantly broke down, and he began to cry loudly.
"Woo~woo~"
It kept banging its head against the wall, hurting itself recklessly. Blood soon flowed from its forehead, but it seemed to feel no pain and just continued to repeat this self-harming behavior.
"Kreacher is a useless house-elf. He didn't even complete Master Regulus's last mission."
This sudden scene attracted the attention of other members of the Order of the Phoenix, and they all gathered around.
Sirius stood aside with a frown on his face. He had never heard of the connection between his brother Regulus and the Horcruxes.
"Regulus? What does this have to do with Regulus? Why is this locket in your hands? No hiding is allowed. Tell me the truth."
Faced with his master's harsh questioning, Kreacher became even more agitated: "Sirius is a bad seed, Master Regulus is the true heir of the Black family!" He cursed angrily, "Why didn't Sirius die!"
Under the gaze of everyone, Kreacher cried and recounted the forgotten past in a halting manner.
"That year, Master Regulus took me to a cave."
Kreacher cried as he recounted how Regulus discovered Voldemort's true identity and realized that joining the Death Eaters was a wrong choice. In order to make up for his mistake and protect his family from being implicated, Regulus decided to stop Voldemort's evil deeds.
Regulus resolutely drank the poison that protected the Horcrux in exchange for the Slytherin locket. Before his death, he gave this important item to Kreacher and asked him to do everything possible to destroy the Horcrux and not to reveal this to anyone.
On the way back, due to extreme thirst, Regulus was unfortunately dragged into the water by the Inferi lurking in the water and died.
By the end, Kreacher was sobbing and could hardly continue. "I didn't complete the task assigned by Master Regulus. I tried every possible way to destroy this damn locket but failed." Sirius held Slytherin's locket in his hand in a daze. "I didn't know Regulus would..."
At this moment, he seemed to have re-recognized his younger brother, the one he once thought was weak and followed the dark forces.
Dumbledore, the Weasleys, and even the usually calm Moody seemed a little dazed.
There was such a brave man among the Death Eaters who silently resisted Voldemort and even sacrificed his own life.
"Regulus is a good boy." Moody patted Sirius' shoulder. He seemed to be not very good at saying comforting words.
The members of the Order of the Phoenix around him were also moved by Regulus' deeds. Sirius' expression became even more complicated, tears involuntarily rolled down his eyes, and his heart was filled with mixed feelings.
"I didn't know anything." Sirius' voice was choked with sobs.
He was proud of what Regulus had done, but at the same time, he felt a deep sense of remorse.
As a member of the Order of the Phoenix, he once strongly opposed Voldemort, but because of a misunderstanding, he caused the death of his best friends James and Lily's families, and he himself spent a long time in Azkaban.
During this time, he made no contribution to the fight against the forces of darkness and could only wallow in despair and self-pity.
Compared to Regulus, Sirius felt mortified.
Dumbledore noticed Sirius's change of mood and gently reminded him, "Everyone has different fates, but the most important thing now is to destroy this locket."
"That's right." Sirius wiped the tears from his face and held the locket tightly in his hand. He couldn't let Regulus' efforts go to waste.
At the same time, Kreacher was still immersed in self-blame and kept punishing himself.
"Stop it, Kreacher," Sirius had never been so gentle to Kreacher before, "Don't punish yourself anymore, we will destroy this locket."
"Really?" Kreacher couldn't believe it. "I tried everything but failed."
"We have Dumbledore and Weiss," Sirius pointed at them, "not just this locket, we will destroy Voldemort once and for all, and avenge Regulus, James, Lily, and all those who have suffered."
"You didn't lie to me?" Kreacher looked at Sirius eagerly.
"I thought you could bear witness," Wes added.
Kreacher nodded eagerly and agreed.
In the basement of the Black mansion, members of the Order of the Phoenix gathered here.
Weiss had just finished drawing the last stroke of a complex alchemical array, and the entire formation was emitting a faint glow.
"that's it."
Weiss stood at the edge of the alchemy array, took a deep breath, and then activated the alchemy array.
With a faint humming sound, the air in the entire basement seemed to vibrate. Marvolo Gaunt's ring and Slytherin's locket were placed in the center of the alchemy circle. Under the gaze of everyone, they began to slowly rotate, emitting a strange halo.
