Traveling back thirty years to Conan, intercepting Princess Eri
Chapter 671 Tiger poison does not eat its seeds
The group toured Mito Shinzo's bedroom and collection room, where Mito Shinzo's room was kept extremely tidy.
The group carefully examined every corner, but found no clues related to the case.
When Lin Xiuyi walked out of the collection room, she glanced at her watch and saw that it was already past ten o'clock.
After a moment's hesitation, he turned to Ikenami Goji and said, "We should go to the hospital. Even if Mito Shinzo was really unconscious, he should have woken up by now."
"We wonder what kind of surprise he will bring us after he wakes up."
……
Led by Mrs. Akutagawa, the group arrived at a private hospital near the Mito family home.
This is an eight-story modern building with a clean off-white exterior and glass curtain walls that reflect dazzling light in the afternoon sun.
The hospital entrance is marked with a gold-plated sign that reads "Osaka Central General Hospital," making it look more like a luxury hotel than an ordinary medical institution.
“This is a hospital invested in by the Mito family,” Mrs. Akutagawa explained in a low voice. “The master has his own floor and medical team here.”
The lobby was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and the floor was as smooth as a mirror, reflecting the shadow of the crystal chandelier on the ceiling.
Several nurses in uniforms hurried past pushing medical carts, the wheels making a regular "gurgling" sound on the floor.
Upon seeing Mrs. Akutagawa, the nurse behind the reception desk immediately bowed respectfully, clearly very familiar with this housekeeper of the Mito family.
"How is Mr. Mito?" Mrs. Akutagawa asked.
“Mr. Shinzo has woken up,” the young nurse said, flipping through the logbook. “He regained consciousness about fifteen minutes ago. The doctor just finished the examination.”
Takeshi Ikenami stepped forward and showed his police badge: "We are police officers, and we need to see the attending physician."
"Please wait a moment." The nurse dialed the internal phone.
A few minutes later, a middle-aged doctor wearing a white coat and gold-rimmed glasses rushed over.
His name tag read "Attending Physician Fujita Akira," and his hair was neatly combed, but the fine beads of sweat on his forehead betrayed his nervousness.
"Dr. Fujita," Takeshi Ikenami asked directly, "what is the specific cause of Mr. Shinzo Mito's coma?"
Dr. Fujita adjusted his glasses and said cautiously, "Well... we did a full examination, including a brain CT scan, an electrocardiogram, and blood tests, but we didn't find any organic lesions."
"From a medical perspective, it may be a temporary fainting caused by a strong emotional shock. Fright, sadness, and excessive grief can all lead to this situation."
"So, you can't determine the specific reason?" Hattori Heizo interjected.
“You could say that,” Dr. Fujita said, wiping his brow. “A person’s mental state can sometimes trigger physiological reactions, which is not uncommon in medicine.”
"Mr. Shinzo is old and has suffered the blow of his son's death, so it is possible that he would have such a reaction."
Lin Xiuyi sneered inwardly. This explanation was watertight, both justifying his coma and leaving no room for doubt.
Either the doctor's skills are truly limited, or... he received a bribe from the Mito family.
As a well-known wealthy man in Osaka, Shinzo Mito naturally stayed in the best private room in the hospital. The room was spacious and bright, decorated like a suite in a five-star hotel, with not only a private bathroom and a reception area, but also a set of valuable mahogany furniture.
The group stopped outside the ward.
Hideaki Hayashi, Takeshi Ikenami, and Heizo Hattori gathered around the glass window of the ward and peered inside.
On the hospital bed lay Shinzo Mito, dressed in a blue and white hospital gown, his face pale.
He stared blankly at the ceiling, tears still clinging to the corners of his eyes, sobbing softly as he murmured his son's name intermittently: "Falcon... my son... how could you be so foolish..."
His appearance was haggard and sorrowful, and anyone who saw him couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
“The patient’s condition is indeed not good,” Dr. Fujita said in a low voice. “From a medical point of view, I do not recommend prolonged visits. What he needs now is rest, not to be questioned by the police.”
Takeshi Ikenami frowned: "But we have important questions to ask."
“At least please control the time,” the doctor insisted. “Emotional excitement is a huge burden on his heart.”
Standing at the back of the crowd, Ikebane Shizuka saw this scene through the glass and couldn't help but sigh softly, her tone tinged with emotion.
"They say even tigers don't eat their cubs. Even if Mito Hayato really did something to wrong him, he was still his own son. Now that a parent is burying their child, Mito Shinzo must be heartbroken."
As soon as she finished speaking, Lin Xiuyi next to her shook her head slightly and said sarcastically in a low voice, "There are so many of us walking all the way down the corridor with such loud footsteps. Even if he was really immersed in grief, he should have heard the noise by now. He has plenty of time to prepare if he wants to put on an act in front of us."
"Hey!" Ikenami Shizuka frowned in displeasure and gently nudged Hayashi Hideaki. "Why do you always think the worst of people? Mr. Mito is so heartbroken, can't you say something nice?"
"I'm just stating the facts," Lin Xiuyi said calmly, shrugging.
"Stop it."
Takeshi Ikenami turned around and glared at the two people huddled together whispering, then said irritably,
"This is a hospital, so be mindful of your appearance. Lin, Hattori, you two come in with me, the rest of you wait outside."
After giving his instructions, he took a deep breath and pushed open the door to the ward.
Ikenami Takeshi went in first, followed closely by Hayashi Hideichi and Hattori Heizo.
Outside the ward, Shizuka Ikenami, Yuko Kawada, and the others could only helplessly stop and watch as the ward door was closed again.
In the hospital room, Shinzo Mito heard the door open, but seemed completely oblivious.
He remained in that position, staring blankly at the ceiling, muttering Mito Jun's name, and occasionally letting out a sob.
Takeshi Ikenami walked to the bedside, cleared his throat, and tried to make his tone as gentle as possible: "Mr. Mito, excuse me. We are from the Osaka Police Headquarters. We are here today to inquire about some circumstances surrounding the death of your son, Mito Hayato..."
He had only spoken halfway when Mito Shinzo, lying on the hospital bed, suddenly raised his head as if a switch had been flipped, staring at Ikenami Takeshi with bloodshot eyes.
The next second, he opened his mouth and let out a heart-wrenching cry: "My falcon! Why did you have to do this! Daddy is so sorry!"
The cries were so heart-wrenching that they made one's eardrums ache.
Mito Shinzo cried and pounded on the edge of the hospital bed, looking as if she were in unbearable pain... (End of Chapter)
