The Uncrowned King of the Peninsula

Chapter 72 Beyond the Sea

Chapter 72 Beyond the Sea
The back door of a hotel in Seocho District, Seoul City.

Pei Yongjun parked the car on the side of the road and waited quietly. After a few minutes, he saw a slender and tall figure running out from the back door, looking around on the side of the road.

Pei Yongjun honked the horn.

The figure turned around, trotted over, opened the car door, and jumped into the car.

Her skin is fair and smooth, her facial features are beautiful, her big eyes sparkle in the night, and her long hair looks even darker and smoother when draped over her red coat.

It was Choi Sulli.

"Hurry up! Editor-in-chief, hurry up!" Her snow-white cheeks were flushed with excitement. She glanced out the car window, then turned her head to urge Pei Yongjun.

"Hey, what's going on?" Pei Yongjun started the car. "Is someone chasing you?"

"My agent came with me. I said I was drunk and needed to go to the bathroom." As she spoke, she looked at the back door of the hotel.

"So, you ran away secretly?" Pei Yongjun looked at her.

"Yes." Choi Sulli playfully stuck out her tongue, then looked at him with a nervous expression, as if she was afraid that Bae Yongjun would criticize her. "Is that okay?"

"It's really boring. He keeps looking at me and doesn't let me do anything. He even counts how much I eat. It's like being in prison." Choi Sulli pouted.

"So, just this once, okay?" She looked at Pei Yongjun and carefully raised a finger, her long eyelashes fluttering, a hint of desire in her dark pupils, "Just this once, Editor-in-Chief nim~"

"Since you said so, then..." Pei Yongjun leaned over and stared into Cui Xueli's bright eyes. Their faces were close to each other, and the gentle scent of cosmetics mixed with wisps of hot alcohol made people intoxicated.

"Then..." Choi Sulli pursed her lips nervously, her white and tender fingers half-curled against his chest, as if to keep the distance between them, but her movements were weak and powerless. "Then what?"

"Well then," Inspector Pei Yongjun pulled out the seat belt with his right arm and buckled her into the seat with a click. Then he straightened his body and took hold of the steering wheel. "Let's start the prison break."

He slammed his right foot down, the low engine sound hummed, the car shook, and then like a taut bow, it bounced out with a whoosh, pressing Choi Sulli's thin body against the backrest.

"Hold on tight! We are fugitives!"

The black Hyundai sedan left the hotel building behind in an instant and drove through the streets of Seoul.

"Then where are we going to escape to?" Choi Sulli grabbed the handrail with her right hand, her eyes flashing with excitement.

"Escape...to the other side of the sea!"

Cars speeding across the Han River Bridge are like sailboats crossing the sea.

"Ocean!" Choi Sulli shouted towards the shimmering Han River outside the car window, a bright smile on her face, "I love you!"

"Please, too!"

"Like me!"

Pei Yongjun's profile was reflected on the car window glass, his eyes were bright.

----

On an empty hillside, Pei Yongjun stopped the car. Beside him, Cui Xueli was still holding the handrail on the car window tightly with both hands, panting heavily, as if she had not yet recovered from the fast-paced journey.

He stretched out his hand and waved it in front of her. She turned around with a hum, "Where is this?"

"I don't know either. Let's go downstairs and take a walk." Pei Yongjun pointed out the window. Under the distant hillside, the Han River flowed quietly in the moonlight.

"Okay." Choi Sulli nodded.

The two got out of the car together and stood on the gentle hillside, speechless for a moment.

Choi Sulli stood beside him, feeling like she had a lot to say, but she didn't know what to say. The scene of herself shouting at the Han River in the car suddenly flashed through her mind.

Seriously, what were you thinking? Why were you yelling like that?
She didn't know why she shouted at that time, nor did she know who she was talking to. Her heart was filled with sweet confusion, and her hands were clenched and opened behind her back.

Choi Sulli stole a glance at Bae Yongjun beside her. His sculpted profile seemed softened by the moonlight, and his deep eyes, gazing at the distant Han River, seemed to conceal a thousand thoughts.

What is editor-in-chief Nim thinking?

Choi Sulli was mesmerized for a moment.

Buzz~buzz~
Suddenly, Pei Yongjun's cell phone rang.

"Sorry," he took a look and saw that it was Jin Minxuan, whom he had never contacted since changing his contact information. "Please answer the phone."

"Yongjun Oppa!" As soon as the call was connected, Kim Minho's excited voice came out of the phone, "Great! Doosan won today! Wow!!!"

Bae Yong-jun did not go to watch the game, but gave the tickets to Kim Yong-min's family. It seems that Kim Min-min really likes baseball games.

"That's great! Thank you so much, Oppa!" Kim Min-woong was chattering on the phone. Choi Sulli, who was standing next to him, heard the cute female voice and couldn't help but glance at his phone.

"You're welcome. If you like any show, just tell me."

"Yeah! Thank you! We're going home now. My dad asked me to ask Oppa if you want to join us for a midnight snack. Jimin-unnie is here too!"

"I won't go tonight, have fun."

"Okay then, thank you, Yongjun-oppa! Hmm?"

A different voice came on the line, "This is Jimin, thank you for the tickets."

It was Liu Zhimin's gentle and dignified voice.

"You're welcome."

Pei Yongjun thanked him and hung up the phone.

Turning around, Choi Sulli, who was secretly glancing at him, quickly turned her head away, staring at the surface of the Han River, pretending that she had done nothing.

Pei Yongjun also pretended to know nothing and looked at the Han River in the distance, "Well, let's continue watching."

"Oh, okay." Choi Sulli responded nervously.

Pei Yongjun laughed.

"Editor-in-Chief..." She turned her head and pouted, her expression aggrieved and cute. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have eavesdropped."

Pei Yongjun gradually stopped laughing. "She's Uncle Rongmin's daughter, Jin Minyue. You might meet her in the future."

"Uncle Rongmin's daughter?" Cui Xueli was stunned. "I saw her?"

"She is now a trainee at SM."

"Is that so?" She nodded, a longing look on her face. "Looking back now, although my time as a trainee was hard, I was also very happy."

"Why? Aren't you happy only after your debut?" Pei Yongjun asked.

"I'm very happy to debut, but..." Choi Sulli paused, her expression darkening slightly.

"Teacher Lee Soo-man always says that idols are the dreams of their fans," she whispered, "so only by being perfect in everything you say and do can you be loved by everyone."

"Listen to what the company says and do what it says. Be a good boy and don't ask why. Then everyone will like you."

"It seems to be true," Choi Sulli muttered to herself, "If you don't behave, you will be scolded."
