Chapter 156 Who am I?
I was born on the shore of a large lake with lush grass.

When I broke through the eggshell and opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the misty white clouds in the sky and the swaying reeds on both sides.

Watching the clouds rolling in the sky and listening to the wind blowing through the reeds, this peaceful and harmonious scenery makes me feel very peaceful in my heart.

Driven by instinct, I opened my mouth and let out a childish chirp. I knew it wouldn't be long before my mother heard my voice and protected me - but she didn't.

So I looked around and saw the eggshell fragments all around me, and I realized that I was the last one born among my brothers and sisters.

Young animals need the protection of their relatives. I didn’t see my father - this is normal. My genes tell me that all males will live alone away from the tribe after they reach adulthood. I didn’t see my mother either - maybe she had an accident, but my genes tell me that this is not a desperate situation. I can find the "aunts" in the tribe and seek shelter from them.

So I left the nest and shuttled through the reeds. When I was thirsty, I drank some lake water on the spot. When I was hungry, I looked for shells and snails under the mud and sand. But my favorite was a kind of goldfish with bulging eyes. Not only did it taste much better than those shellfish and snails, but after eating it, the bubbles I blew with my lubricant would splash sparks when they burst. It was really amazing!

The lake where I was born is very large. Although everyone in the tribe lives here, they all leave a certain amount of space between each other for hunting. So when I found the first "aunt", it had been three days since I was born.

When I saw "Auntie", I happily opened my mouth and blew out a string of bubbles made of lubricant, hoping that "Auntie" would accept me as a member of the family.

However, things did not develop as I expected. After seeing me, "Auntie" looked very confused. Her eyes seemed to be wondering whether I was one of her kind.

After seeing the sparks that ignited when the bubble I blew out burst, the "Auntie's" eyes changed in a way that I couldn't understand. Instead of accepting me, it blew out a particularly large bubble, which knocked me over.

Well, maybe this "auntie" has too many children at home and is not very willing to feed another mouth.

I was not discouraged. I left this "aunt's" territory and found another "aunt".

Unfortunately, the answer was still a rejection.

Try again, refuse again...

I don't know how far I walked, but I still couldn't fit in with any family. After being rejected without exception, I looked at my reflection on the lake and finally realized that my body color was different from theirs. My fins were purple, not cherry pink. Their bubbles did not emit sparks after bursting, and they did not have the same control over the bubbles they created as when they were playing.

It turns out that they and I are not of the same race...

As I found more and more new families, my body grew a little bit bigger, and the color difference that was not noticeable at first became more and more obvious. The movements they made to drive me away also became bigger and bigger, and occasionally I would be attacked by my own kind when foraging... No, they already regarded me as an alien.

I finally decided to leave.

I decided to find a new lake to live in, away from my fellow tribesmen who treated me as an alien.

It was only after I left the original lake that I suddenly realized that compared to the hostility of those pink and tender fellows, the outside world was full of dangers. The various monsters I encountered were almost all much larger than me, and without exception, they all regarded me as a snack.

I kept running, trying to get back to the lake I'd come from. But after being chased twice by an orange monster with a long, sickle-like tail, I was exhausted and couldn't find my way home. I kept moving forward, hoping to find a place to stay. I don't know how many days had passed. I was starving and my scales were dry. Fortunately, there's always a way out. Today, I finally found a water source and was able to survive!

I carefully explored the surroundings and found nothing unusual, so I cautiously approached the edge of the pool.

But I didn't notice that in the middle of the pool, the piece of thing covered with green algae that looked like driftwood was actually an extremely huge monster!

I wanted to run, but my hungry body had no strength. Even my attempt to secrete synovial fluid to help me escape failed due to the lack of water in my dry body. No miracle happened and I was swallowed by that terrifying guy in one gulp.

The darkness, the suffocation, the friction and squeezing of the sand and gravel brought me excruciating pain. I had long been in despair, but I never thought that the final death would come so slowly, and the torture it brought me was even more painful.

My whole body was in so much pain that I was almost numb. Just when I was groggy and thought that everything was over, I felt dizzy again.

The air entered my nasal cavity, bringing a hint of life. Was I... being vomited out?

I opened my eyes weakly, and my almost exhausted body made my pupils strain for a long time before I could see the scene in front of me clearly. It was a brown monster, stretching out its sharp claws towards me, wanting to eat me.

I had just escaped from the frog's mouth and entered a human nest. Although I had no strength to resist, the glimmer of hope called "life" still urged me to struggle hard.

Live!
Somehow, when the brown monster saw me struggling hard, it retracted its outstretched claws. Was it scared by me?

I couldn't help but relax subconsciously, and then an endless wave of fatigue surged up, almost drowning me completely. Before my eyelids finally closed, I saw the brown shadow reach out to me again, and it seemed that there was something in his hand...

it's all over……

I completely lost consciousness.

……

A kind of moisture, different from the vapor from the lake, entered my body with my breathing. My consciousness gradually revived. A turbid voice seemed to be transmitted from another world. I couldn't understand it at all, but it seemed like they were having a conversation.

As I regained consciousness, the burning pain all over my body broke through the shield of my brain and penetrated into my consciousness. It hurt so much!
However, compared to the numbness that almost completely wiped out my entire body before I fell into a coma, this kind of pain suddenly made me realize that I was still alive.

The water mist with a hint of bitter fragrance continued to enter the body through the breath, bringing a hint of coolness to the body. Wherever the coolness passed, the originally unbearable pain was reduced a lot, which made me feel a lot more relaxed.

What's wrong with me?
I opened my eyes and found myself in a emerald mist, with the brown figure not far away.
