Monster Hunter: I can hear the monsters' thoughts

Chapter 5 The reason why Canglanxing is mute has been found!
I thought I could just follow the map without having to think, but now it seems I still need to put a little effort in...
Kevin scratched his head, his nonchalant expression slightly restrained, and he began to observe his surroundings carefully.
If a high-ranking hunter, a guild elite from East Dorma, couldn't even complete a one-star gathering commission like this, people would laugh at him if the news got out!
The sunlight shines through the treetops, forming beams of light in the forest. The ground is covered with red leaves of varying shades. When the north wind blows, any possible footprints are covered.
But for an experienced and skilled hunter, this level of tracking traces was not difficult at all. Kevin just took a quick glance and walked to a clearing in the woods. He looked up at the tiny scratches on the branches above, then bent down to dig up the fallen leaves on the surface, grabbed a handful of black soil from the bottom, and sniffed it carefully.
"There's a smell of wood ash and a faint warmth. There was a fire here not long ago."
The image of a large monster that can breathe fire, such as a fire dragon, flashed through Kevin's mind. He shook his head. There was no pungent smell of sulfur, and it was impossible for such a monster to run to such a place to dig a beehive, and it was even more impossible for it to leave no conspicuous traces.
Could it be a group of Felynx in the wild?
Kevin had a headache. If those little guys took all the honey in this area, what would he take back to hand in the commission?
Well, let’s search around again. If I really can’t find any honey, I’ll just go and buy it from the Felyne tribe that has collected honey!
Half an hour later.
Kevin scratched his helmet frantically. In this short period of time, he had found traces of at least four beehives, but without exception, they had all been taken by "Elu Cat".
Oh my god, when did Felyne start liking honey so much?
Kevin gave up searching for the hive and followed it based on the various traces left by "Elu Cat" inadvertently.
Broken dead branches, bent red leaves, these inconspicuous traces gradually led Kevin to a reed marsh where lightning bugs were flying everywhere.
Pushing aside a clump of reeds in front of him, Kevin's attention was attracted by the bonfire burning beside the lake. To be more precise, it was the figure beside the bonfire dressed in clothes woven from leaves and vines that attracted his attention.
Judging from the body shape, it is not Elu or Melu as previously speculated, but more like a human.
The reason why I didn't confirm it directly but used the word "like"... Well, normal humans shouldn't wear such uncomfortable and defenseless clothes when going out in the wild, right?
Under Kevin's strange gaze, the man skillfully skewered a few sashimi fish on wooden sticks and began to grill them. From time to time, he would use a green-bristled brush to dip into the honeycomb piled next to him and brush a layer of shiny honey on the surface of the grilled fish.
"This guy is really careless... He's unarmed, and he's not afraid that the scent will attract nearby monsters?"
Kevin wiped the saliva from the corner of his mouth, stood up, and prepared to go up and talk.
After a brief observation and judgment, he was able to remove the initial word "like". This was a somewhat strange person, and he should try to communicate with him and buy the honey.
Just as he stood up, he felt a slight vibration under his feet and Kevin's face suddenly changed.
There's a large monster approaching! This guy is in danger!
The tremors were approaching rapidly, and Kevin had no time to think. He rushed forward across the campfire and at the same time took off the sword and shield on his back with extremely swift movements. He held the sword in his left hand and hung the shield on his right arm. Just standing there, he exuded a calm and reliable aura.
Kevin narrowed his eyes and stared at the blue beast that quickly rushed out of the jungle. He felt a little relieved. He turned his head halfway and spoke in an urging tone.
"Hey! Stop grilling the fish! I'll hold this blue bear beast back, get out of here!"
Lin Lin, holding a branch in each hand, was enjoying the grilling when he suddenly felt a gust of wind. A tall hunter appeared before him, knife in hand, confronting Xiong Er, who had come after the scent. Xiong Er was the name Lin Lin had given the blue bear beast, as its gluttonous, sleepy, and somewhat foolish personality was truly fitting. The passing hunter he'd been longing for appeared before him, and Lin Lin's first reaction was naturally joy. But the next moment, realizing what had happened, his expression changed.
"Holy crap! Wait a minute! This is Xiong Er, my friend!"
Kevin heard what the man behind him said, but although the tone was quite rapid, he could not understand it at all. It was not the hunter language commonly used throughout the continent. Maybe he was worried about his own safety?
Kevin felt a little warmed in his heart. The blue bear beast opposite him, sensing hostility, had already stood up, raised its claws and roared intimidatingly, but he still had the mind to respond to the person behind him.
"Don't worry, a mere Blue Bear Beast can't hurt me, just run!"
"No, big brother! You didn't understand me..."
Lin Lin was halfway through his words when he suddenly got stuck. It was not until now that he realized that the language the other party was speaking was not Chinese, but he understood the meaning completely without any hindrance.
Damn! We don’t speak the same language! I can’t explain it clearly!
Lin Lin quickly grabbed the grilled fish in his hand and rushed out, bypassing Kevin who was blocking his way and inserting himself in the middle of the confrontation between the two sides.
First, he threw the grilled fish to Xiong Er, then quickly turned to the hunter and waved his hands, interspersed with various gestures.
"I, it, my friend! Safe!"
Kevin looked at Lin Lin, who was wearing strange plant clothes and gesturing constantly, and uttered a few incomprehensible syllables from his mouth from time to time, in confusion. He also saw that the blue bear beast that had just pretended to be ferocious ignored him and was now squatting on the ground and chewing fish. He felt that the worldview he had built up over more than ten years of hunting career was completely shattered.
"Hmm...I must have drunk too much of the ghost medicine. I'm hallucinating?"
Kevin took two steps back to ensure that he would not be suddenly attacked by the Blue Bear Beast, and then remounted the sword and shield on his back.
He saw that with his action, the strange man opposite him obviously breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, the man quickly walked to the campfire, picked up two grilled fish, and handed one of them to Kevin, still speaking in an incomprehensible but rhythmic language.
"Oh my god, big brother, you finally understand. I was so scared... Come on, big brother! Try the grilled fish I just made! It would be so nice if everyone could get along!"
Kevin hesitated for a moment, glanced strangely at the blue bear beast on the other side who was holding the grilled fish and chewing it, but finally took the grilled fish.
He was not afraid of the heat and bit off half of the grilled fish in one bite, chewing it with a happy expression.
"Gudu"
Kevin's Adam's apple rolled, and he gave Lin Lin a thumbs-up. "Brother, your cooking skills are really impressive!"
After a pause, he added cautiously, "Uh... you should be able to understand what I'm saying, right?"
Lin Lin curled his lips, wanting to say something, but finally nodded silently.
Seeing the dawn of leaving the wilderness for the first time and meeting humans in this world for the first time were obviously two happy things, but why were his feelings so complicated?
PS: If you can understand the monsters' thoughts, it would be great if you can also understand hunter language.
