Industrial Revolution of the Mage Lords
Chapter 14 Silent Hunting Game
Chapter 14 Silent Hunting Game
As the sun sets, the entire mountain range is dyed with a thin layer of golden light.
Harvey took Reiner and walked at the foot of the Raven Ridge, taking one step deep and one step shallow.
"Sir, isn't it too dangerous for just the two of us to go and strangle that group of evil orcs' outpost?"
Reiner was holding four thin metal chains in his hands, with the four eight-legged alchemical beasts that Harvey had named "Wolf Spiders" tied to the front end.
He would also reach out from time to time to grab Harvey, who was always tripped by the vines.
"It's indeed troublesome because we are not familiar with the mountain roads, but we are going for a surprise attack, not a head-on confrontation, so our chances of winning are very high," Harvey analyzed breathlessly.
"Besides, we also brought wolf spiders with us. This will be a good opportunity to test the combat capabilities of these new guys."
Reiner nodded, tightened his grip on the chain, and said firmly, "Don't worry, sir. I will stand in front of you no matter what."
The wolf spider has a strong ability to track in the wild. The two followed the wolf spider's guidance all the way, gradually moving from the foot of the mountain to the depths of the mountainside.
The sky has gradually darkened.
In a small valley not far away, two bright flames illuminated the sky.
Seven or eight evil orcs with hideous faces were either squatting beside the fire, tearing at pieces of meat, or half lying on the ground, roaring and communicating loudly.
"This half-human, half-beast creature is so ugly!" Harvey and Reiner hid behind a rock far away and looked out to observe.
"Reiner, give instructions to the wolf spiders first, and then let them out to lure the enemy." The other side had a lot of people, and Harvey decided to find a way to disperse them and then defeat them one by one.
This was his first time fighting as a spellcaster since graduating from the Undead Academy. After all, he was a research-oriented spellcaster and not as experienced as a combat mage.
Reiner nodded, pulled the chain in his hand, and completed the command exchange with the wolf spider, which was also an alchemical creature.
Then he untied the wolf spiders' metal chains and watched them quickly disperse and disappear silently into the night.
……
An evil orc squatting by the fire to eat swallowed the half-cooked piece of meat in his hand with a huff and puff, sucking his fingers with lingering satisfaction.
It suddenly stood up, took two steps, and then lifted the hem of its dirty and greasy leather apron, preparing to squat down.
Seeing this, another evil orc lying not far away roared loudly, picked up a fist-sized stone and threw it at him.
The other evil orcs also roared, as if accusing it of defecating in public and affecting other people's appetite.
The evil orc who was hit by the stone whimpered twice and walked reluctantly towards the bushes outside the range of the firelight.
After a burst of gurgling excretion sounds, the evil beastman picked up a handful of dead leaves from the ground and rubbed his bare buttocks with them.
He stood up contentedly.
Suddenly I felt something hovering above my head, as if it had been staring at it for a long time.
The evil orc subconsciously looked up and saw a huge black shadow, with eight thick, slightly reflective legs sliding down from the sky.
She pounced on his face and knocked him to the ground with a thud.
With a barely audible sound, the bushes returned to calm.
The night wind blew, and a faint smell of blood came into the air. The evil orc lying on the ground twitched his nose and stood up alertly.
The bushes rustled, and a figure staggered out of the darkness towards the fire.
The evil orc who stood up and was on guard shouted loudly while holding the bone spear, but received no response.
All the evil beastmen gathered their gazes, waiting for the figure to walk into the range of the firelight.
Only then did we discover that its head was broken beyond recognition, with a huge through wound running from the face to the back of the head, and through the wound we could vaguely see the shattered brain matter inside.
A tall and strong evil orc, holding a stone axe, walked fearlessly to the orc with a broken head, raised the axe and chopped it down fiercely.
With a snap, the already shaky head of the evil orc was chopped off and fell to the ground, rolling several times.
The headless corpse twitched for a few seconds and finally fell to the ground.
Another miserable howl was heard, and everyone turned around to find that their companion standing at the back seemed to have been attacked from behind by some evil beast.
A trail of bloody struggle trailed into the dense undergrowth. An evil orc, bone spear in hand, was about to give chase, but just as he reached the edge of the bushes, a massive black shadow pounced on him from the side.
Then he rolled into the darkness.
There were fewer and fewer evil orcs still standing by the fire.
The tall evil orc, who was obviously the leader, opened his big mouth full of fangs and shouted loudly to stop his companions from chasing.
Suddenly, he felt something approaching from behind in the darkness. Without even looking back, he quickly pulled out a bone spear from his waist.
He twisted his waist and turned around, throwing the spear out suddenly. The sound of breaking air and metal colliding was heard at the same time.
when!
The bone spear hit a strangely shaped spider leg, and the huge impact force broke the metallic spider leg directly.
The bone spear also shattered into pieces.
The strange spider did not pounce forward, but quickly fled by paddling its remaining seven legs.
The evil orc leader could no longer bear it and jumped up to chase after him.
I had not chased him far when suddenly a thin figure in a black robe appeared from behind a tree, with a hood on, blending into the night.
The black-robed man had a slightly raised mouth corner under his hood and was chanting a spell silently.
A thick dark green mist gushed out from the sleeves of his robe and rushed straight towards the evil orc's face.
Ahhhhh!
The leader covered his face which was corroded and burned by the mist, screamed loudly and retreated, feeling that he had slammed into an extremely hard chest.
Before it could turn its head and open its eyes, it felt a pair of cold hands pinching its neck.
Click!
The evil orc leader's neck was twisted.
Before losing consciousness, he could vaguely see a campfire not far away.
Three identical eight-legged spider monsters were pouncing on their companions and stabbing their sharp insect legs into their bodies.
……
"Oh, poor little thing, one of its legs is broken." Reiner picked up the metal insect leg that fell on the ground and looked at the lame wolf spider lying beside him with a distressed look on his face.
"It's okay, just take it back and weld it." Harvey said nonchalantly. The joints of the wolf spider's legs seemed to be its weak points.
"Sir, do you want me to gather them all together and burn them?" Reiner looked at the corpses of the evil orcs dragged together by the wolf spiders.
Harvey laughed, "Don't bother with that, Reiner. Have you forgotten what kind of wizard I am?"
He took out the Philosopher's Stone, held it in his hand, and chanted the spell of resurrection.
A strong energy of death surged around, and even the wolf spider lying docilely beside it began to move its legs restlessly.
The corpses' joints made strange crackling sounds, and then they slowly crawled up from the ground.
Standing silently in a row, it looked quiet and terrifying.
"Well, sir, this is the first time I've seen you use necromancy." Reiner's tone was full of longing.
Harvey clapped his hands in satisfaction and used magical commands to signal the zombies to follow him.
"It's a pity that the evil beastmen can't communicate. Otherwise, if they were transformed into alchemical life forms, they would be the perfect labor force."
"More suitable than me, my lord?"
"You are different. You are a human being. Even though you have no body, you feel that you are human, and I feel that you are human too. That is it."
"But now I feel it's better to be a non-human..."
The wolf spider paddled its long legs in front to clear the way, and seven or eight bloody zombies followed quietly behind.
The two chatted all the way and slowly walked towards the town at the foot of the mountain.
In the valley, only two broken campfires were left, about to go out.
