Industrial Revolution of the Mage Lords

Chapter 21 The Legacy of the Ancient Mage

Chapter 21 The Legacy of the Ancient Mage

The remains of the stone tower in the huge pit are covered with vines and moss.

After the fall, it was shattered by the violent impact. The entire stone tower was quite large, and the base area was almost as large as the main building of Harvey's small manor.

Such buildings usually have a main exit in and out of the wizard tower at the base.

Harvey operated the reconnaissance eye and carefully observed around the base of the stone tower.

Sure enough, on the back of the stone tower base, a heavy stone door that was broken in the middle fell to the side, revealing a dark and deep entrance.

Maintaining the Reconnaissance Eye requires ensuring the refraction of light, so Harvey cannot manipulate it to enter the stone door.

The alchemy beast is large in size and cannot move in this narrow space where the structure is obviously broken due to collapse.

I can only go down and find out for myself.

Putting away the detection magic, Harvey looked up and warned Pierce who was on alert, then called Reiner over.

Let Reiner carry him and climb down to the bottom of the pit.

"Sir, let me go in first, and you just follow behind." Reiner was not afraid to explore this unknown space.

He skillfully ignited the "scorching ray" weapon on his arm, slightly bent his body, and entered the dark stone door.

Harvey followed closely behind, holding the activated Illuminating Magic Stone in his hand.

The space at the bottom of the stone tower is very small, so you don't need too much light to see everything.

The broken and collapsed walls are covered with smooth-edged holes, which must have been used to install shelves or wooden stairs in the past.

But these things have obviously decayed and disappeared.

After walking only a dozen steps, they encountered a huge collapsed stone beam. There was a gap below that Harvey could barely bend over to pass through.

Reiner could only crawl on his knees to cross.

The space behind the stone beam suddenly opened up, and it seemed that the damage here was not serious.

There were collapsed stone statues everywhere, broken pieces of crystal containers piled up in the corners, and books that had rotted away to the point that only leather covers remained. Harvey picked up a book gently, and the pages inside turned into powder.

Some of the wreckage that looked like metal instruments were also rusted like mud and would break into pieces with a slight squeeze.

This should be a study or a magic laboratory.

Harvey looked at the scene in front of him and felt that the existence of this wizard tower could probably be traced back to the Dragon War more than 400 years ago.

I just don't know how such a huge wizard tower was built in such a desolate and remote area.

What type and level of ancient spellcaster is its owner?

Because of some changes or accidents, this place was abandoned and left to be buried in the dust of history and time.

Harvey and Reiner used the light to search the room as best they could.

"Hey! Sir, look at the ceiling!" Reiner had the advantage of height and noticed the top of his head.

Harvey looked up and saw several irregular holes with something embedded in them on the stone wall at the top of the room.

He stepped on Reiner's shoulder to get a closer look.

They turned out to be dull, oval-shaped metal ores.

Harvey carefully pried one off with a dagger. It felt heavy in his hand, cool and smooth to the touch.

"What kind of metal is this? It's quite heavy and seems to be very dense."

Regardless of all that, Harvey decided to pry them all off first and take them back to study them slowly.

Reiner carried Harvey and worked hard for a while, harvesting seven or eight of these strange metal ores, all of which were put into Reiner's tough and durable leather bag.

After searching for a while and finding nothing, Harvey had no choice but to decide to leave and return to the ground.

Just as he stepped onto the broken stone beam and was about to bend down to cross it.

He vaguely heard a shout, which seemed to have a slight echo, but was intermittent and difficult to distinguish.

Harvey's hair stood on end. He immediately asked Reiner to recheck the walls around the room, carefully observing whether there were any hidden rooms or traps. He took out a magic stone, ready to cast a spell at any time.

Not long after, the shouting sounded again, this time it was much clearer, as if it came from deep under his feet.

Harvey subconsciously jumped back, his back hitting Reiner's hard chest armor, and he grimaced in pain.

"Is there a secret room under this room? Is there someone inside, calling for help?"

Harvey felt cold sweats breaking out. How could this be possible? This ancient wizard tower had existed for at least four hundred years and was located deep in the wasteland on the northern slope of Jackdaw Ridge. Apart from himself who discovered it by accident, who else could have arrived here?
"Help me... help me..."

The cry for help continued, becoming clearer and clearer, and Harvey was sure it was indeed coming from the ground beneath his feet.

Reiner held a crackling welding torch and stood in front of Harvey. The leaky mouth and metal jaw on the skull trembled up and down, making a terrifying giggling sound.

"Sir, there's a ghost here! Let's run!"

Harvey swallowed and stretched out his foot to brush away the dust and debris that had accumulated on the ground.

A square cellar cover was revealed, with a round depression on it. It should be the door knocker for opening the cover, but unfortunately it had rusted away long ago.

Reiner also stomped on the cover with his foot, making a dull thud.

"It's empty down there, my lord."

Harvey nodded, calming down. "Find a way to open it, Reiner."

Reiner squatted down and stretched out his metal arm, trying to pick at the gap in the cover, but it didn't move at all.

The stone cover opens from the bottom up and should have additional fixings at the bottom.

Seeing that he couldn't pry it open, Reiner simply clenched his fist and punched the cover hard.

There was a loud bang! A cloud of fine dust rose up throughout the room.

A small crack appeared in the stone slab.

Reiner didn't stop and continued to swing his metal fist, hitting the stone slab with powerful punches.

After swinging dozens of punches, there was finally a crisp cracking sound, and the stone cover shattered into several pieces and fell into the dark cellar.

Harvey threw another magic stone of illumination into the cellar and watched it fall to the ground and roll a few times, illuminating part of the dark space.

"Sir, I'll go down and take a look first." After Reiner waited for Harvey to nod in agreement, he immediately jumped into the cellar.

"How is it? Reiner, did you find anything?" Harvey felt a little anxious and leaned his head out to call out to Reiner who had jumped down.

But got no response.

"Oh no! Is there a well-preserved magic trap in this cellar?" Harvey's heart tightened and he immediately climbed the edge of the cellar entrance and jumped in.

As soon as he landed and stood up, he found Reiner's tall figure standing not far away with his back to him, motionless.

Harvey walked closer holding a light source and looked forward following the light magic stone in Reiner's hand.

Like Reiner, he was stunned in an instant.

It was a huge, crystal clear, pale yellow amber ore embedded in the wall.

The scary thing is that there is something in this huge transparent piece of amber.

It was wrapped in a slender human-shaped shadow, which could be barely distinguished through the crystal. The human-shaped figure had closed eyes, a pale face that was lifelike, and slightly twisted limbs. It seemed that he was still struggling hard to escape from the amber crystal.

"Is he... is he still alive?" Reiner finally came to his senses and asked tremblingly.

"I don't know either." Harvey murmured, and subconsciously placed his palm on the surface of the amber crystal. A warm touch came from the palm of his hand.

"help me!"

The voice came out from the amber crystal again.

Harvey looked up and saw the twisted figure trapped inside, his eyes originally closed.

Now it's open...
