Chapter 424 Night Raiders

Almost at the moment when the Astrologer was injured and fell to the ground, the Eye of Illusion and the instant spell guided by Duncan flew out of his hands and rushed straight into the dense forest where the shadow was attacking.

The attack speed of Arcane Storm and Magic Missiles is extremely fast, and they are small-area coverage attacks. They are most effective against enemies that are in a sneak attack or hiding state.

The sound of the magic bombardment echoed in the dense forest. After the smoke and dust from the shattered trees and splashed soil settled, the expected enemy's true form was not seen.

A young refugee guide rushed to the astrologer, bent down and tried to lift her up and drag her into the makeshift tent to take shelter. Then another dark shadow attacked silently from another direction.

Almost in the blink of an eye, the black shadow pierced through the young guide's chest. The force was so great that it directly sent him flying and nailed him to a thick tree trunk next to the campfire.

The people gathered around the fire only then saw clearly the weapon used by the other party -

It turned out to be a thick and long crystal thorn as black as ink!
Blake and White also quickly completed the preparations for the spell. They raised their hands and threw out a dark green kingfisher from their sleeves. The birds flew around the exploration team, spraying a large amount of thick and insoluble plague fog along the way.

This was originally a plague spell that the necromancer was good at. Now it was used to isolate the enemies hiding in the dark, and it could have a certain effect. No matter which direction the enemy rushed out from the dense forest, they would inevitably need to pass through the fog wall constructed by the plague.

The Eye of Illusion rubbed his hands together and was about to bend down and press the ground to cast a force field spell when three distorted human-shaped shadows slowly appeared in the dense forest in the night, almost making him forget to cast the spell and stand there in a daze.

The enemies who walked straight through the fog of corruption and came into the range of the camp's firelight were not the demon ascendants or evil orc priests they had expected, but three "weirdos" whose bodies were no different from those of normal humans and whose bodies were wrapped in some kind of strange shells. The shells covering their bodies were dark in color, with a dull and uneven surface. It was a stretch to call them armor. It was more like a layer of swollen biological skin, wrapping them tightly from head to toe, with only the joints slightly bulging and twisted.

The strangest thing is the protective helmet on their heads. The front of their facial features is inlaid with a whole piece of dark black crystal covering their face. Extending to the sides of their ears are two dark red sacs, which are contracting and expanding rhythmically with their breathing.

The strange man carried a rusty metal cylinder on his back, and two dirty leather tubes extended from the cylinder and connected to their wrists. As one of them raised his hand and pointed, an extremely thick black liquid spurted out from his wrist. The moment it came into contact with the air, it immediately condensed into a slender and sharp black crystal thorn.

They used this thing as a weapon and launched a silent sneak attack from the dense forest!

The slender black thorn attacked the Eye of Illusion standing in the front, but suddenly changed direction in the next second, piercing straight into the ground and turning into a pool of black water... The pupils of the Eye of Illusion were swirling with silver-white, and it was using force field magic to change the direction of the crystal thorn's impact.

Duncan's entire body of bones erupted with a violent metallic friction sound, and in just over ten seconds, he transformed into a giant werewolf more than three meters tall. Two long metal blades suddenly extended from his back on his originally hairy ribs and waist. The lower half of his body was completely replaced by mechanical animal feet instead of flesh and blood limbs, and his knees were strangely bent backwards, similar to the toe structure of scaly animals.

As the wolf-shaped wizard rushed towards the enemy, the Eye of Illusion immediately turned around and shouted to the two ordinary guides, "Take the astrologer to the airship pod!"

At the same time, the shapeshifter, who was experienced in combat, had already knocked an enemy away with great force. He twisted his sturdy mechanical lower limbs on the spot, turned around and spread out the long metal blade under his ribs, and directly slashed across the side of another enemy, accurately cutting off the leather tube connecting the cylinder on his back and his wrist.

He discerned the enemy's method for unleashing the black crystal spikes and intended to directly sever the source of this silent hidden weapon. Thick black water gushed out onto the ground. The Eye of Illusion didn't possess the ability to instantly cast an illusion, but his combined force field and arcane skills were not to be underestimated. A rapidly rotating transparent cyclone condensed in his palm, connecting with several pieces of rubble rising from the ground around him. It whirled like a bullet, blasting towards the enemy.

Duncan, transformed into a werewolf, leaped up and stepped heavily on a thick tree trunk. He twisted his waist, turned around, and swung his sword from top to bottom, cutting the enemy's shoulder and neck with great force, but it did not directly chop off the opponent's head wrapped in the crystal mask as expected.

The sharp long blade made of enchanted metal and phantom copper actually scratched a shallow dent on the opponent's shell, but it was as ineffective as a blunt weapon cutting tough leather.

He was momentarily stunned when he suddenly heard the Eye of Illusion shout a warning, "Teacher, get out of the way!"

The werewolf wizard subconsciously bent down and lowered his head, kicked his legs hard and slid several meters away. A row of tiny black crystal thorns as dense as rain fell from the sky and hit the place where he had just stopped.

Duncan looked carefully and found that the black pus that had just been cut off by him and flowed to the ground had suddenly floated in the air and suddenly launched a sneak attack on him under the control of an enemy.

Silently and without a trace... not even the slightest magical fluctuation could be detected, and even its speed was as fast as a bullet fired from a magic gun. If his companions had not warned him in advance, he would not have been able to dodge it no matter how experienced he was in combat.

What made Duncan's back feel even colder was... the mottled black liquid that accidentally splashed onto his body during the battle had turned into thin steel needles at some point, and was drilling into his body like a living thing.

Unless the entire body is transformed into a solid enchanted metal prosthesis... there is no way to resist this strange black crystal thorn!

The enemy in the middle shook his wrist, and the black liquid that flew out turned into a long whip as flexible as a poisonous snake. The Eye of Illusion raised his palms downwards and flipped up the originally soft soil. Instantly, it solidified into a solid stone slab and flew up, blocking the attacking black whip.

Dust rose as the stone slab shattered. The last enemy who had not made a move clasped his hands together and made use of a spear made of black water, and rushed towards the side and rear of the Eye of Illusion, which was manipulating the stone slab to resist. He stumbled after taking two steps, and subconsciously looked back with his head covered by the crystal mask. He found that the guide who had been nailed to death on the tree by the black crystal at the beginning of the battle had suddenly come back to life. He lay on the ground with red eyes and a dead look on his face, hugging his legs tightly.

The strange man shook his hands, and the Black Water Spear immediately transformed into a sword. He twisted his hands and swung it downwards, ready to chop off the zombie's arms and head...

The zombie's skin suddenly turned blue and swelled, and it exploded with a bang - Michelle, who was hiding nearby, detonated the corpse explosion seed that she had planted in advance on the zombie she was controlling.

The knife-wielding enemy was blown away by the corpse explosion and disappeared into the dense forest.

Michelle, who had been hiding behind the tent, stood up, muttering a spell. He was about to "gather" his "comrades" who had been blown to pieces of flesh and bones, and then he would cover himself with a layer of flesh and blood armor...

Suddenly, a black thorn shot out from the dense forest, pierced through his shoulder and pierced into the tent behind him. Michel, whose shoulder was pierced instantly, fell on his back and blood gushed out from the huge wound.
