Chapter 562: Fight to the Death and Total Annihilation

There was a loud bang!

Benny was knocked back several times by the shock wave of the explosion. In the chaos, warm and fishy liquid sprayed all over his head and face. When he opened his eyes, the left arm of the observer who was pressing on him was empty at the shoulder. The entire arm was gone.

There were two other soldiers in the bunker who were unable to dodge and were hit directly by the red lightning that shot in from the observation port. Without even having time to scream, they were blown into charred pieces of flesh and blood, and sticky and smelly blood splattered everywhere. The originally narrow observation port was directly broken open, becoming a huge gap that was open enough for people to crawl out.

It's the Red Lizardmen! Red Lizardmen that have grown wings and can fly! Not only do they wield blackwater weapons and spear attacks, they can also manipulate and unleash terrifying red lightning!

The young observer opened his mouth in his arms, and a bunch of fine pink blood foam came out of his mouth, but he couldn't utter a word.

Benny felt his brain congested with blood... He couldn't panic! He gritted his teeth and dragged the observer to the corner of the ice castle, approaching the blasted gap again.

"The fortifications have been destroyed! All soldiers, take cover! Ignore the targets still in the sky, and fire back at the enemies that have landed on the ground!"

Two more swift lightning bolts struck, directly blowing up half of the top of the ice castle. Huge and heavy ice bricks fell down with a rumble, burying several soldiers hiding in the corner.

Benny took advantage of the gap after the other party released the red light, exchanged a quick look with an old soldier, and at the same time half-crouched, raised his gun and aimed. Two bullets flew straight to the other party's chest from the left and right. The cross-shooting left him no time to dodge in the air, and he was shot and fell to the ground.

Having lost the cover of the top of the ice castle, the Winged Lizardmen no longer tried to land on the ground to launch an attack. Instead, they sent a team to fly at low altitude, continuously dropping crystal thorns and spears around the damaged fortifications, forcing the garrisoned soldiers to constantly change their cover and positions to avoid a double attack from the ground and air.

Fortunately, the veterans led by Benny were not afraid. Relying on their rich combat experience and accurate marksmanship, they fought and dealt with the enemy in the fortress corridors half buried under the ice and the ruins of damaged fortifications.

Once the demon lizardmen tried to force their way forward and engage in close combat, they would immediately be suppressed by a wave of fierce firepower organized by the soldiers, forcing them to flap their wings and take off again, or glide back on their wings... For a moment, the entire battle suddenly fell into a strange stalemate, and both sides seemed to be unable to do anything to the other side.

With a crisp click, Benny broke off the empty magazine again and reached for his waist as if by habit... Broken! Only the last magazine was left!

He looked for help at the veterans beside him, but before he could say anything... he noticed that the others also had miserable expressions on their faces.

Everyone's ammunition supplies are running low!
He raised his foot and hooked the belt of a dead soldier, slowly dragged him into the bunker trench, and reached out to touch his waist...as expected, it was empty.

A veteran, huddled behind an icicle not far behind him, fired a shot, forcing back the enemy overhead. He hummed at Benny, "Boss, stop searching! We've already checked the ammunition on those unfortunate guys." Benny gritted his teeth unwillingly and turned, "Surround the collapsed fortifications and retreat to the western corridor. Hold that...that's where the alchemy communicator is."

The only part of the Ice Castle outpost where soldiers conduct daily activities and observe enemy situations is protruding from the ground. On the left and right sides, a narrow downward-sloping corridor is dug. One side connects to a deeper pit buried completely under the ice for storing supplies, while the other side leads to a pit for placing alchemical communicators and for night rest.

An additional horizontal bunker trench was opened between the two pits. After the first floor of the fortress was blown down by the lizardmen, most of the soldiers were concentrated in this trench to fight with the enemy. They had to guard the only two remaining downward entrances to prevent the lizardmen from directly invading the interior of the fortress.

As the number of casualties gradually increased, the signalmen who had been standing in front of the communicator and repeatedly requesting reinforcements had to pick up their weapons and join the defense. Only then did Benny suddenly realize... they had been fighting with this group of enemies that fell from the sky for nearly an hour.

Why haven't the reinforcements from the surrounding scouting forts arrived yet? The ground troops can march less than ten miles in an hour, so they should be here by now, right?
A horrible thought suddenly flashed through his mind... Could it be that they were not the only reconnaissance post that was attacked?
Could it be that these winged lizardmen, who are capable of flying and are agile and flexible, are launching a simultaneous attack on multiple surrounding ice castle outposts?
The base headquarters probably couldn't respond to all the distress signals. Even if they sent the most agile airship team, they might not be able to...

While he was thinking, he was a little distracted. An enemy in the air took advantage of Benny's slowness and suddenly dived down. A thick black crystal shield condensed in front of him, and he tried to squeeze in through the gap in the bunker trench.

We must not let these monsters engage in close combat with them!

Without any orders, several soldiers raised their long spears with bayonets already installed, shouted in unison and lunged forward... As the sharp-edged sabers pierced the enemy's waist and abdomen, the opponent's black shield in front of his body also changed its shape in an instant, condensing into a bunch of extremely sharp black thorns, which scattered directly towards the surrounding soldiers.

There was no way to avoid the close-range black thorn shooting. After the three soldiers groaned miserably, they were pierced through the bodies by the black thorns and nailed to the wall of the trench. Blood gushed out rapidly from their damaged bodies, and the entire trench was filled with a strong smell of blood.

Benny quickly came to his senses, raised his gun again and shot another lizard man in the head who was about to follow his companions' example and dive towards him. However, the black crystal spear that the other party threw out still grazed his shoulder. The huge impact force caused the weapon in his hand to fall out of his hand, and he fell directly into the tunnel.

Just when he thought the following enemy was about to raise his hand to finish him off, a blazing white beam of light came hurtling from the distant sky, piercing straight through the body of an airborne enemy, splitting it in two, and then continued to move forward... and then hit the second target again.

This is not the power that an ordinary sniper-type magic gun can create!
This is... this is the Magic Barrett that can only be controlled by spellcasters and bloodline warriors!
Benny felt his blood surge up, and his body was filled with an inexplicable strength again. He took the hemostatic ointment thrown by the medic and pressed it on the wound on his shoulder. He stood up tremblingly and looked in the direction of the base camp.

In the distant sky, hundreds of airships... were rushing towards their location in a mighty manner.
