Chapter 704 Hard Fight
As the artillery fired the first shot in retaliation against the alien race, the Fireborn, who had been inexplicably severely wounded, was carried back to the command post by Stormwalker Matthews Willie.

The reason he wasn't sent directly to the field medical center in the underground bunker was because his injury was so strange and unusual. He had only glanced at the enemy's position from a distance of nearly ten miles, and in an instant, all the abundant magic power in his body was drained away. Then, as if he had been attacked by a mental spell, he completely lost control of his body and couldn't even maintain his flight state... He almost fell headlong from a height of nearly a hundred meters and was smashed into a bloody pulp.

"What happened? How was Colonel Horton injured?"

After the counterattack officially began, the command post was already bustling with noise and activity. When a powerful spellcaster from a high-ranking military officer was helped in, everyone was stunned... Losing a high-ranking officer right at the start of the battle was certainly not a good omen.

Stormwalker frowned and answered uncertainly, "I don't know either. He just glanced at the enemy's location with his True Sight and was then ambushed... When I saved him, I could sense that his mana was instantly drained, and he went straight into exhaustion."

If it originated from some undiscovered, unique hidden weapon of the Lizardmen, and the Fire Mage's body had no wounds or scars, Matthews, a fellow high-level battle mage, had never seen anything like it before and could only preliminarily conclude that he had suffered an unknown mental attack.

Although Vaughn was also a high-level bloodline warrior who had awakened his talent, he was completely ignorant about spellcasters. To make matters worse, at this critical moment, the legendary chief Dawson returned to the capital city of Starfire, leaving only a dozen or so high-level battle mages from the Evil Moon Mountains at the front line... None of them were research spellcasters with more theoretical experience, so they had no way of judging his injuries.

Fortunately, after hastily gulping down two doses of Moonlight Elixir to nourish his soul, the Son of Flame finally let out a painful groan and slowly woke up, his body convulsing. "Ugh... my brain, my brain was almost turned into mush!"

After catching his breath, he suddenly came to his senses... He raised his trembling arm and grabbed Matthews, urgently saying, "Notify all the high-ranking officers still on the front lines... Do not, do not attempt to use magic to probe the enemy's formation! They... there is a terrifying monster among them, a bizarre being that can lock onto observers from a distance and launch an instantaneous attack!"

Vaughn nodded solemnly, walked to the side without hesitation, picked up the communicator, and prepared to give the order.

The command post door was suddenly kicked open from the outside, and two disheveled junior officers rushed in with bewildered expressions.

"Commander, a monster suddenly appeared in the enemy army... a monster with a completely red body. That thing has the ability to fly, just like the winged ones, and it charged towards our position without any warning!"

"What are we waiting for? Activate the anti-aircraft beams and intercept it immediately!"

"The beam weapon of the early warning front... we simply can't deal with it. This thing... its flight speed is astonishing. We... we've tried every possible method but we still can't lock onto the target!"

Vaughn was both shocked and furious. Before he could even speak, Stormwalker understood their precarious situation, nodded to him, and turned to leave the command post without hesitation.

When ordinary soldiers and magical weapons are unable to cope with the sudden appearance of powerful enemy individuals, it is time for these high-level battle mages to shoulder their responsibilities.

……

The crystalline red lizard-man monster roared straight towards the Ice Sea Base, instantly crossing the three heavily guarded ground defenses. With a speed that even high-level spellcasters could hardly match, it easily dodged all the beam weapons fired at it.

Similarly, it seemed to be aware of the power of the weapons in the hands of these mortal soldiers, and dared not slow down or stop to launch an attack. However, just hovering over the base was enough to exert enough pressure and deterrence on the human soldiers below.

The artillery positions in the rear continued to fire, recklessly unleashing thousands of shells at the approaching enemy. The dozen or so conch beasts at the forefront could not withstand the fierce bombardment and collapsed and crumbled on the ice.

The alien creature clearly recognized the Northern Army's greatest strength, and after only a slight pause, it quickly changed direction and sped towards the area where the artillery was located.

The base's forward command post was conveniently located on the route it had to take.

As a crucial target, the brain and heart of the army, the Northern Army naturally wouldn't relax its tight defenses. Although the beam weapons had lost their effectiveness, dozens of airships quickly took off and hovered directly in front of it. The alien monster, however, showed no fear... As it approached the airship defense line, it suddenly gained altitude, avoiding the oncoming net of light, and then raised its hand, unleashing a thick bolt of red lightning that struck one of the airships, completely detonating it.

The two high-ranking officers sensed the danger in advance and managed to escape the vehicle, which had exploded due to damage to its power core, at the last minute. They hovered in the air using only their own abilities and rushed towards the enemy without hesitation.

The target then made a nimble aerial turn, slipping through the gap between the two airships without making any additional movements. Yet, it immediately caused the airships to seem to lose all kinetic energy, their power cores overloaded and started smoking, causing them to plummet erratically towards the ground.

Two more high-ranking individuals emerged from the airship and, together with their former colleagues, blocked its path from the front and back. Several instantaneous spells shot out, completely enveloping its figure in mid-air.

As expected, the shockwaves caused by the mixing of several elemental magics did not occur... The high-level spells that struck his body were like a few small pebbles thrown into a deep pool, without even producing a tiny ripple, and simply vanished without a sound.

More high-level battle mages arrived, led by Stormwalker, and more than ten of them surrounded the strange enemy in front of them.

The frost tornado unleashed by the frost mage rose from the ground, and with the help of the biting cold wind, it completely enveloped the aerial battlefield. Most of the elemental spellcasters in the team quickly condensed their signature creative attack spells, and the invisible magical fluctuations caused the space itself to distort slightly.

Two high-ring scorching fire spells were launched first, heading straight for the target... followed closely by several arcane shockwaves, some even containing faint force field magic fluctuations, clearly a backup plan hidden in the shadows.

The alien creature's flight path was slightly affected by the frost tornado. Although it managed to dodge the first few waves of attacks, it was ultimately hit directly by an overwhelming barrage of magic.

The energy turbulence triggered by the magic explosion surged relentlessly, and the violent fluctuations rapidly spread outwards... forcing several nearby spellcasters to retreat quickly to avoid it.

"It couldn't dodge so many attacks... No matter how strong its strange, crystal-red shell was, it should have been shattered directly."

With this level of cluster spellcasting, the target should theoretically be completely obliterated, leaving not even a trace of a corpse.

Stormwalker let out a long sigh of relief and looked down at the ground... Soldiers were gathered near the crashed airship, trying to pry open the twisted and deformed metal pods in an attempt to rescue the few mid-level mages who might be alive.

The interception operation, which involved deploying all the high-ranking mages on duty at the base, went relatively smoothly. However, during the battle, he inadvertently made eye contact with the monster's single eye on its chest for less than half a second—

Even now, I still feel a tremor in my mind, and the abundant magical power within me seems to be showing signs of becoming uncontrollable.

This is the information His Majesty and his men extracted from the winged captives... Are these truly powerful evolved beings among the Lizardmen?

Quickly regaining his composure, Matthews raised his hand to call to his companions who were still standing in the air, preparing to regroup and return to the ground.

But suddenly, a spatial rift was torn open in the airspace where the enemy had just been.

The strange, crimson figure reappeared, and before anyone could react, the red crystals covering its entire body trembled violently, and thousands of deep red plasmas erupted, enveloping the four unsuspecting high-level beings around it.
